    Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has urged Arab and Islamic countries to stand together to protect Al-Aqsa Mosque and defend the rights of the Palestinian people amid the worsening situation in occupied Jerusalem and the West Bank. Speaking at a ministerial meeting on Jerusalem in Amman, Jordan, Dar said Muslim nations must adopt a united and coordinated approach to preserve the sanctity of Jerusalem’s holy sites. He stressed that immediate action is needed to stop violations at Al-Aqsa Mosque and maintain the site’s historical and legal status. Dar said the international community must ensure unrestricted access to Jerusalem’s holy places and prevent any attempts to alter their religious or historical character. He added that continued Israeli actions threaten regional stability and undermine prospects for a lasting peace. The foreign minister strongly opposed Israeli settlement expansion, annexation efforts, forced displacement of Palestinians and demographic changes in the occupied territories, including East Jerusalem. He said such measures violate international law and several United Nations Security Council resolutions. He also called for the complete implementation of the Gaza peace plan and all relevant UN resolutions. Dar welcomed diplomatic efforts by the United States, Egypt, Qatar and Türkiye, expressing hope that all parties would honour their commitments and move the peace process forward. Referring to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Dar said the ceasefire had brought limited relief, but conditions remained critical. He noted that millions of Palestinians continue to face severe food shortages, displacement and insecurity despite recent progress. Dar urged Muslim countries to strengthen diplomatic efforts to ensure international protection for Palestinians and hold those responsible for violations of international law accountable. He said justice and respect for international law are essential for achieving sustainable peace. Reaffirming Pakistan’s longstanding support for Palestine, Dar said Israel has no sovereignty over occupied East Jerusalem or its Islamic and Christian holy sites. He reiterated Pakistan’s support for the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital. The minister also warned that continued attacks on religious sites could inflame tensions across the Muslim world and increase the risk of wider regional conflict. The ministerial meeting concluded with a joint declaration by Arab and Muslim foreign ministers announcing the creation of a permanent mechanism to document Israeli violations in Jerusalem and at its Islamic and Christian holy sites. The mechanism will include a media platform to record incidents involving worshippers and religious sites and present documented evidence before international organisations and the global community. The declaration reaffirmed that East Jerusalem remains an occupied territory and rejected all unilateral measures aimed at changing its legal or demographic status. It also stressed that a two-state solution remains the only viable path to lasting peace in the region. On the sidelines of the meeting, Dar held separate discussions with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Türkiye, Jordan and Somalia. The meetings focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation, reviewing regional developments and coordinating diplomatic efforts on the Palestinian issue.

      Fans of Landman have plenty to look forward to as the Paramount+ drama moves toward its highly anticipated third season. The Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace-created series has officially been renewed, and recent updates suggest that the next chapter of the hit oil drama is taking shape. Paramount+ confirmed the renewal in December 2025 after Landman delivered strong viewing numbers for the streaming service. The third season will continue to be executive produced by Sheridan, Wallace, David C. Glasser and several other members of the creative team.  The biggest question for viewers has been when the new episodes will arrive. Paramount+ has confirmed that season 3 is coming, but the streamer has not announced an official premiere date. Its own update notes that both previous seasons launched in November, although that pattern does not guarantee the same release window for the new season.  Production timing has also become an important part of the conversation. Earlier expectations pointed toward a quicker return, but reports indicate that filming has been pushed later than initially anticipated. That has raised the possibility that viewers may have to wait until 2027 rather than seeing the season in late 2026.  There is, however, plenty of story left to explore. Season 2 ended with major changes for Billy Bob Thornton’s Tommy Norris. After being pushed out of M-Tex, Tommy joined forces with his son Cooper and Danny Morrell to establish a new oil business. At the same time, Demi Moore’s Cami became an increasingly powerful figure at M-Tex, setting the stage for a new professional rivalry.  Thornton is expected to return as Tommy, while other familiar faces are also likely to continue their stories. Tommy is no longer simply trying to survive inside someone else’s oil empire. He is now building something of his own, while facing new business dangers and complicated family relationships. For now, fans will have to remain patient for an official premiere announcement. What is clear is that Landman is not going anywhere. With Paramount+ backing another season and the story entering a completely new phase, season 3 could become one of the show’s biggest chapters yet.

    Pakistan has sought stronger support from the United States to improve its access to international capital markets, strengthen foreign exchange reserves and enhance its sovereign credit ratings as part of its broader strategy to accelerate economic growth and attract foreign investment. Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb discussed these priorities during a meeting with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent in Washington. The meeting focused on Pakistan’s economic progress, financial reforms and opportunities to deepen economic cooperation between the two countries. During the talks, Aurangzeb briefed the US treasury secretary on Pakistan’s improving economic outlook. He said the country has successfully moved beyond the phase of macroeconomic stabilization and is now entering a period focused on sustainable, export-led growth. He noted that ongoing structural reforms and prudent fiscal management have helped improve economic stability and restore investor confidence. The finance minister also highlighted the challenges posed by regional geopolitical tensions. He said instability in the region has affected Pakistan’s economy and continues to create uncertainty for trade, investment and financial markets. He emphasized that stronger international cooperation would help Pakistan maintain economic stability despite these external challenges. Aurangzeb requested greater US support to help Pakistan improve access to international capital markets. He said easier access to global financing would strengthen the country’s financial position, increase foreign exchange reserves and improve sovereign credit ratings, making Pakistan more attractive to international investors. The two sides also discussed ways to expand bilateral economic cooperation. They reviewed opportunities to increase US investment in Pakistan and explored prospects for advancing strategic development and investment projects that could strengthen economic ties between the two countries. Both governments reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing economic relations, promoting investment and supporting initiatives aimed at expanding trade and long-term financial cooperation. Separately, Aurangzeb held a virtual meeting from Washington with senior representatives of international banking consortia participating in Pakistan’s Global Medium-Term Note Programme and International Sukuk Programme. The meeting marked the beginning of a strategic partnership with selected international financial institutions that will assist Pakistan in raising funds from global capital markets through both conventional bonds and Islamic financing instruments. The banking consortia have been appointed for a three-year period and will support future sovereign bond and Sukuk issuances whenever the government decides to enter international financial markets in line with its financing strategy. Officials said Pakistan’s return to international capital markets has become more feasible due to significant improvements in the country’s macroeconomic environment. Continued fiscal discipline, stronger external financial buffers, better debt management and ongoing structural reforms have improved investor confidence and strengthened Pakistan’s economic credibility. Government officials believe these improvements have also contributed to better market sentiment, with international investors showing growing confidence in Pakistan’s economic reforms and long-term growth prospects.

    Karachi crime remains high in July

    The Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) has released its latest crime statistics for Karachi, showing a significant number of killings, extortion cases, mobile-phone thefts and vehicle-related crimes during July. According to the CPLC data, 40 people lost their lives in different incidents across the city during the month. The figures also showed that extortion remained a concern, with 18 cases of bhata khori reported in July. Street crime continued to affect residents, particularly through mobile-phone and motorcycle theft. The CPLC recorded 1,846 mobile phones stolen across Karachi during the month, highlighting the continued risk faced by citizens while travelling or moving through public places. Vehicle-related offences also remained a major challenge. Criminals stole 110 vehicles in July, while 12 cars were snatched from citizens. The figures indicate that vehicle owners continued to face the threat of both theft and armed or forced snatching. Motorcycles accounted for the largest share of vehicle-related crime. The CPLC recorded 2,648 motorcycle thefts during July, while criminals snatched 492 motorcycles from citizens. The latest figures reflect the scale of crime reported across Karachi during the month, with motorcycles, mobile phones and vehicles remaining frequent targets. The data also highlights continued concerns over public safety, particularly in relation to street crime and property offences. The CPLC regularly compiles crime data from across the city to provide an overview of reported criminal activity. The July figures are likely to keep the focus on law-and-order conditions in Karachi and the need for stronger measures to protect citizens and their property.
