Kriti Sanon urges people to prioritise mental health

Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon has opened up about the importance of mental and emotional well-being, urging people to pay as much attention to their minds as they do to their physical health.

The National Award-winning actress reflected on how her experiences while working on films such as Mimi and Do Patti changed her perspective on acting and the emotional impact of portraying complex characters. According to Kriti, she once believed that the characters she played remained confined to the world of cinema and did not have any lasting effect on her personal life. However, her experiences with these two films made her realise that characters can leave an unconscious emotional impact on actors.

Kriti explained that the effect of a demanding role does not always become apparent immediately. Sometimes, an actor may complete filming and only begin noticing emotional changes several days later. She said that a character can continue to influence a person’s mood, behaviour and thoughts even after the cameras stop rolling.

The actress said this experience taught her the importance of consciously separating herself from the characters she portrays. While actors are expected to completely immerse themselves in their roles, Kriti believes that it is equally important to know when to step away from the emotional world created for a film.

She also recalled times when she was personally dealing with difficult or emotionally challenging situations while having to continue working on a comedy project. Despite going through personal struggles, she still had to portray cheerful and entertaining characters in front of the camera.

Kriti pointed out that actors repeatedly draw upon their own emotions while performing. They have to access different feelings and sometimes revisit difficult emotional spaces to make their performances believable. Because of this, she believes that maintaining good mental and emotional health should be an important part of an actor’s life.

The actress encouraged people to find healthy ways of managing their emotions and maintaining mental balance. She suggested practices such as meditation, therapy and other activities that help individuals feel mentally grounded and emotionally stable.

Kriti also shared that she personally turns to meditation from time to time and finds it beneficial. For her, taking a pause and reconnecting with herself helps maintain emotional balance, particularly after working on emotionally demanding projects.

Her comments highlight a broader reality of the entertainment industry, where performers are often required to move between intense emotions and different personalities within a short period of time. While professional commitment is important, Kriti believes that taking care of one’s mental health should never be overlooked.

Kriti Sanon was most recently seen alongside Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna in Cocktail 2. The actress continues to remain one of Bollywood’s prominent performers, balancing commercially successful projects with roles that require emotional depth and versatility.

Pakistanis get relief as US visa policy overturned

A US federal judge has struck down a State Department policy that suspended immigrant visa processing for applicants from Pakistan and 74 other countries. US District Judge Jeannette Vargas issued the ruling in Manhattan, finding that the policy exceeded the legal authority of Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The State Department had introduced the suspension in January, preventing consular officials from issuing immigrant visas to applicants based solely on their nationality. Judge Vargas described the policy as unlawful and said it conflicted with federal immigration law. She ruled that the law does not give the Secretary of State the authority to impose a blanket suspension on immigrant visa issuance based on an applicant’s nationality. The policy affected applicants from a wide range of countries, including Pakistan and Bangladesh in South Asia. Several countries in Latin America, the Balkans, Africa, the Middle East and the Caribbean were also included. US authorities had defended the measure by arguing that applicants from the listed countries were considered more likely to become dependent on government-funded assistance after entering the United States. The ruling came in a case brought by immigrant rights organisations, visa applicants and US citizens sponsoring family members from the affected countries. The plaintiffs challenged the State Department’s decision, arguing that the blanket suspension unlawfully restricted access to the immigrant visa process. The decision represents a legal setback for the Trump administration, which has pursued tougher immigration policies since returning to office. The administration has said its immigration measures are intended to strengthen national security and reduce pressure on public resources. Immigrant rights groups, however, have criticised several aspects of the crackdown. They have raised concerns about due process, discrimination and the treatment of ethnic minorities. The State Department had not immediately issued a response to the judge’s decision.

US expands probe into cyclospora outbreak linked to recalled lettuce

US health authorities have expanded their investigation into a multistate outbreak of cyclosporiasis after new infections were identified in four additional states. The outbreak has been linked to shredded iceberg lettuce imported from central Mexico and supplied by Taylor Farms. Officials from the US Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are continuing efforts to determine the full extent of the outbreak and trace all affected products. According to the FDA, confirmed outbreak-related cases have now been reported in nine states including Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Health officials said nearly 2,000 people have become infected with the cyclospora parasite after being exposed to food served at Taco Bell restaurants. So far, at least 98 people have required hospital treatment, although no deaths have been reported. The investigation remains active as authorities work to identify additional cases that may be connected to the contaminated lettuce. Oklahoma’s health department said it is cooperating with federal officials to determine whether more illnesses reported in the state are linked to the outbreak. Cyclosporiasis cases have been recorded in at least 41 states across the country this year. However, investigators say not every infection is connected to the current outbreak. Health officials are still examining which cases are directly linked to shredded iceberg lettuce supplied by Taylor Farms and served at Taco Bell locations. Several states have already completed preliminary reviews and found no evidence connecting their reported cases to the nationwide outbreak. Health departments in Nebraska, Rhode Island, New Mexico and Maryland said investigations have not identified a link between local infections and the recalled lettuce. Officials stressed that cyclospora infections can result from exposure to a variety of contaminated fresh produce, making each case important to investigate separately. In New Hampshire, health authorities confirmed nine infections associated with recalled Taylor Farms lettuce that had been served in the cafeteria at Cheshire Medical Center. Officials are continuing to investigate whether additional illnesses reported in the area are related to the same source. Oregon health officials also reported two infections believed to be connected to the ongoing outbreak. Both individuals had recently traveled to states included in the nationwide recall and were believed to have consumed pre-shredded lettuce associated with the investigation. North Carolina has also seen an increase in cyclosporiasis cases this year, but state health officials said the available evidence does not suggest those infections are related to the Taco Bell outbreak. Instead, investigators found that patients had commonly consumed fresh herbs such as parsley and cilantro along with lettuce, indicating different sources of exposure may be responsible. Michigan remains the state reporting the highest number of suspected infections. State officials said more than 8,000 probable cases of the intestinal illness have now been identified, with hundreds of additional cases reported within a single day. Investigators continue to monitor the situation closely as new reports are received. The outbreak prompted Taylor Farms to announce a voluntary recall of iceberg lettuce sourced from central Mexico on July 17. The recall covers products sold in grocery stores, supplied to restaurants and distributed to food service businesses across the United States. Federal health officials continue to advise consumers, restaurants and retailers not to use or serve any products included in the recall until the investigation is complete. An industry source familiar with the matter said Taylor Farms has temporarily suspended operations at the processing facility in central Mexico that US health authorities have linked to the outbreak. Officials hope the closure, combined with the product recall and continued public health monitoring, will help prevent additional infections while investigators work to identify the exact source of the contamination.

Sahibzada Farhan overtakes Abhishek Sharma to claim no. 2 in ICC T20I rankings

Pakistan’s opening batter Sahibzada Farhan has moved up to second place in the newest ICC Men’s T20I batting rankings, released on Wednesday. He has pushed past India’s Abhishek Sharma in the process. Farhan, who is 30 years old, now holds 848 rating points. That puts him just ahead of Abhishek, who slipped down to third place with 819 points. Abhishek’s drop followed a difficult stretch of form. He struggled during recent tours to Ireland, England, and Zimbabwe, and those low scores clearly took a toll on his ranking. At the very top, India’s Ishan Kishan remains untouched. He continues to hold the No. 1 spot with 910 rating points. Outside of the shakeup between Farhan and Abhishek, the rest of the top five batters stayed largely the same, with no major shifts to report. A little further down the list, India’s Tilak Varma made progress too, climbing two places to sit sixth overall. Meanwhile, England saw a small dip, as both Harry Brook and Jos Buttler each fell one spot. South Africa’s Dewald Brevis had reason to celebrate, breaking into the top 10 for the first time after advancing one position to land at 10th. Perhaps the most eye-catching move, though, belongs to a teenager. Fifteen-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi jumped an astonishing 230 places, landing at 48th with 536 points. That leap comes right after he was named player of the series during Zimbabwe’s tour, a clear sign of his rapid rise in the format. Turning to the bowlers, Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan remains comfortably at the top of the T20I bowling charts. Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed continues to hold second place, sitting on 736 points, while England’s Adil Rashid rounds out the top three. Further down the bowling table, Mohammad Nawaz stayed steady at 10th with 658 points. Fast bowler Salman Mirza also made a small gain, moving up one place to 15th. Not everyone rose, though. India’s Varun Chakaravarthy dropped three spots and fell out of the top 10 entirely. On the flip side, Australia’s Nathan Ellis had a good update, climbing into the top five bowlers with 675 rating points to his name.

The rumors gained further momentum as the two were spotted together on multiple occasions, including social media posts that showcased their time together away from the spotlight. Interest in their relationship continued to grow in September 2025 when Hoffman and Parker attended the Toronto International Film Festival to promote Poetic License. Nearly a month after Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce said their vows, sportscasters Erin Andrews and Charissa Thompson are opening up about what made the day so special. During a recent episode of their Calm Down podcast, the hosts congratulated the couple and described the celebration in glowing terms. Andrews called the night magical and admitted it stirred something in her, joking that witnessing the wedding almost made her want a similar commitment ceremony of her own. Thompson chose not to reveal too many specifics about the event but shared one reflection that stuck with her. She said watching the couple exchange vows reminded her that once you find the right person, everything else falls into place. She added that the weekend reinforced a simple truth for her, that no amount of success or wealth means much without someone to share it with. Andrews agreed with her co-host and noted that fans have been eager for details ever since the ceremony took place. She echoed Thompson’s sentiment, calling the night magical in her own words, and admitted she still feels protective of the pop star. She also revealed that she almost pushed back publicly against people spreading false claims about the wedding online, saying she was frustrated watching strangers invent stories about things that simply never happened. Looking back on the celebration, Andrews said one of her favourite parts was getting to meet people close to the couple whom she had only heard about before. She described the atmosphere as warm and effortlessly enjoyable, adding that everyone she crossed paths with was friendly and easy to be around. Swift and Kelce’s wedding capped off a whirlwind engagement that lasted less than a year. The couple exchanged vows on July 3 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, turning the iconic arena into the setting for one of the most talked-about celebrity weddings of the year. With both hosts offering a rare glimpse into the day from the perspective of guests rather than tabloids, fans now have a warmer, more personal picture of how the celebration actually unfolded, far removed from the rumours that followed it online.
