Oil prices fall over $4 after Trump halts planned Iran strikes

Global oil prices recorded a significant decline after US President Donald Trump announced that the United States would halt its planned military strikes on Iran, easing concerns over a potential escalation in the Middle East and reducing fears of disruptions to global energy supplies.

In international trading, crude oil prices fell by more than $4 per barrel as investors reacted positively to the announcement, leading to a broad sell-off in oil futures.

Brent crude, the international benchmark for oil prices, dropped by $4.08 to settle at $83.85 per barrel. Meanwhile, US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude declined by $4.01, bringing its price down to $80.66 per barrel.

Market analysts said the sharp decline reflected improving investor confidence after the reduction in geopolitical tensions between Washington and Tehran. The possibility of avoiding direct military confrontation eased concerns about supply disruptions from one of the world’s most strategically important oil-producing regions.

The Middle East plays a critical role in global energy markets, and any signs of conflict involving Iran often trigger volatility in crude oil prices. Investors closely monitor developments in the region due to the importance of key shipping routes, including the Strait of Hormuz, through which a significant portion of the world’s oil exports passes.

Last month, oil prices surged by more than 20 percent after renewed US military action against Iran and reports that Tehran-backed forces targeted several oil tankers near Oman. Those incidents heightened fears of supply interruptions, driving both Brent and WTI crude to their highest levels in months.

With the latest announcement from President Trump, traders have shifted their focus toward the possibility of improved regional stability. However, energy market experts caution that oil prices are likely to remain volatile, as any renewed geopolitical tensions or disruptions to oil transportation routes could quickly reverse the recent decline.

Jon Hamm and Anna Osceola expecting their first child together

Jon Hamm and Anna Osceola are entering an exciting new chapter as they prepare to welcome their first child together. The couple, who have been married for two years, recently sparked pregnancy reports after Osceola was spotted showing off what appeared to be a growing baby bump during a beach outing in the Hamptons. The 38-year-old actress enjoyed a relaxing day by the water with her 55-year-old husband, who appeared equally happy to spend quality time with her. Osceola was photographed wearing a dark green bikini that highlighted her growing belly. She appeared to be enjoying the summer weather as she took a dip in the ocean before spending more time with Hamm on the beach. The actor was seen wearing shorts as he stayed close to his wife and appeared to help care for her during their outing. If confirmed, the pregnancy would mark a major milestone for the couple, particularly because Hamm has previously spoken openly about not being certain that he wanted to become a father. In a 2008 interview, when Hamm was 35 and in a relationship with actress Jennifer Westfeldt, the actor admitted that having children was not necessarily part of the future he had imagined for himself. He explained that although many of his friends were starting families, he was unsure whether parenthood was something he wanted. Hamm also reflected on how a person’s family background could influence their views on having children. At the time, he said he had not firmly decided either way and was still uncertain about whether parenthood would be the right path for him. His perspective appeared to change significantly after meeting Osceola. Jon Hamm and Anna Osceola’s relationship Hamm and Osceola first crossed paths in 2015 while working together on the final season of the popular television series Mad Men. Although they met several years earlier, their relationship did not become romantic immediately. The pair were first linked romantically in 2017 before their relationship became more serious and they were publicly confirmed as a couple in 2020. In 2022, Hamm and Osceola made their red-carpet debut together at an Oscars viewing event. Around the same period, Hamm opened up about how his relationship with Osceola had changed his outlook on marriage and family. The actor previously revealed that being with Osceola helped him discover a different kind of happiness and made him reconsider some of his earlier thoughts about marriage and having children. Hamm and Osceola announced their engagement in February 2023. Just a few months later, they exchanged vows in June at Anderson Canyon in Big Sur, California. The location held special meaning for the couple because it was also where they had first met while filming Mad Men. Now, with reports of their first baby on the way, the couple appear to be preparing for one of the biggest changes in their relationship yet. Their journey from co-stars to partners and eventually husband and wife has already marked several important milestones, and parenthood could soon become their newest chapter.

Three Pakistanis killed in Houthi attack on Red Sea commercial vessel

At least three Pakistani nationals were killed and another sustained injuries after Houthi forces attacked a commercial vessel in the Red Sea, according to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. The incident has raised fresh concerns over the safety of Pakistani nationals working aboard commercial ships and the wider security of one of the world’s most important maritime trade routes. Dar confirmed the deaths on Wednesday and strongly condemned the attack, saying that targeting a civilian commercial vessel posed a serious threat to maritime security and international navigation. In a statement posted on X, the deputy prime minister said Pakistan rejected attacks on non-combatant commercial shipping, warning that such incidents put innocent lives at risk and amounted to a violation of international law. He said attacks of this nature could also disrupt freedom of navigation and create further risks for international trade passing through the Red Sea. Pakistan contacts Saudi, Yemen authorities Dar said the Pakistani government was coordinating with Saudi authorities and the internationally recognised government of Yemen to establish further details surrounding the attack. He also instructed the Pakistani embassy in Riyadh to remain in close contact with the relevant authorities and take all necessary steps regarding the deceased Pakistani nationals. The embassy has been directed to facilitate the recovery and repatriation of the victims’ remains to Pakistan, while efforts are also underway to ensure that the injured Pakistani receives all possible assistance. The foreign minister said Islamabad was closely monitoring developments and would maintain contact with the concerned authorities as more information emerged. Islamabad raises concern over Red Sea security Pakistan has repeatedly expressed concern over attacks and threats against commercial shipping in the Red Sea, particularly amid growing instability across the Middle East. On July 22, the Foreign Office warned that continued threats to maritime traffic could undermine freedom of navigation, weaken the rules-based international maritime order and disrupt global commerce. The following day, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia agreed to strengthen coordination aimed at supporting regional peace and security and ensuring the continued movement of legitimate commercial shipping through the Red Sea. The understanding was reached during a telephone conversation between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman. During the conversation, Sharif strongly condemned Houthi attacks targeting Saudi oil tankers operating in the Red Sea and reiterated Pakistan’s concerns over the potential consequences for regional stability and international trade. Makkah defence pact adds regional dimension The latest attack also comes against the backdrop of growing security cooperation between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye. The three countries recently signed the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, establishing a collective security arrangement under which an armed attack against one member would be treated as an attack against all three. Dar has described the agreement as defensive in character, stressing that its objective is to contribute to peace, stability and prosperity rather than escalate regional tensions. Naqvi visits Iran amid diplomatic efforts The latest Red Sea incident occurred as Pakistan stepped up diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions in the wider Middle East. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is currently in Iran, where he held meetings with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. During his meeting with Pezeshkian, Naqvi conveyed a special message from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, according to sources. Sources said Naqvi also briefed the Iranian president about the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement and discussed regional security developments. Pakistan and Qatar have been involved in diplomatic efforts to help de-escalate the conflict, which has resulted in thousands of deaths, particularly in Iran and Lebanon, following US and Israeli attacks on Iran on February 28. Shipping attacks fuel fears over global trade The latest violence comes as tensions surrounding critical maritime routes remain elevated. The United States and Houthi forces reported separate attacks involving shipping on Tuesday, adding to concerns that diplomatic efforts to end the broader Middle East conflict could face further obstacles. The Gulf of Oman and the Red Sea are strategically important waterways, with the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea serving as major routes for global energy and commercial shipments. Any prolonged disruption to these routes could increase transportation costs, affect energy markets and create further pressure on international supply chains. Iran has reiterated that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed unless Washington accepts its conditions, adding to uncertainty surrounding the future of maritime traffic through the strategically vital waterway. Despite the worsening security environment, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said on Tuesday that the United States and Iran were moving closer to a possible agreement. Speaking to Bloomberg News, Asif said recent developments suggested that negotiations could again be moving in the direction of a peace arrangement. Qatar, which has also been involved in mediation efforts, has said discussions concerning the management of maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz had reached an advanced stage.

Commuters traveling from Nazimabad will be able to reach their destinations through Lasbela, Garden, and Nishtar Road. Similarly, traffic coming from Liaquatabad will be diverted at Lasbela Chowk toward Nazimabad No. 10. The Karachi Traffic Police have appealed to the public for patience and cooperation, emphasizing that the temporary restrictions are necessary to ensure the safe and peaceful conduct of the central Chehlum procession while minimizing disruption to daily life.

Khawaja Asif accuses PTI of supporting PPP candida…

Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has claimed that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supported candidates of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) during the recent elections. He alleged that in several constituencies, it appeared that both political parties had made joint efforts to influence the electoral outcome. Khawaja Asif stated that there were visible signs of cooperation between PTI and PPP in certain areas. According to him, the political activities and election strategies of both parties suggested that they were working together against other candidates. However, he did not provide specific evidence to support his claim. The Defence Minister said that he had been observing elections in Azad Kashmir for the past 55 years and had witnessed many political developments over different periods. He described the current election as significant, particularly because voter participation in urban areas was higher compared to previous elections. Khawaja Asif praised the efforts of his party’s workers, saying that they had worked hard during the election campaign. He claimed that the increased voter turnout in cities reflected greater public engagement and interest in the electoral process. He stated that urban areas recorded a turnout of more than 45 percent, describing it as an important achievement. According to Asif, the higher participation rate demonstrated that voters had actively participated in the democratic process and responded positively to his party’s campaign efforts. While discussing the performance of the Pakistan Peoples Party, Khawaja Asif claimed that the party’s popularity had declined among voters. He pointed out that the PPP had last won an election from the city in 1970, suggesting that the party had lost much of its previous political influence in the region. Asif argued that the current political landscape in Azad Kashmir was different from previous decades. He suggested that changing voter preferences and recent electoral trends indicated that political support for traditional parties had shifted over time. The Defence Minister’s remarks came amid political debate following the Azad Kashmir elections, where opposition parties raised concerns about the fairness of the electoral process. The PPP and other opposition groups have alleged irregularities, while government representatives have defended the transparency of the elections. Khawaja Asif maintained that his party’s success was the result of extensive political efforts and public support. He credited party workers for their dedication and said that the election outcome reflected the changing political dynamics of the region. The allegations regarding PTI’s support for PPP candidates have added another layer to the ongoing political discussions. Both PTI and PPP have their own positions regarding the election process, and any claims of coordination between them remain a subject of political debate. As the political situation develops, statements from different parties are expected to continue shaping discussions about the election results, voter trends, and the future direction of politics in Azad Kashmir.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day star Jacob Batalon revea…

Jacob Batalon is shining a spotlight on one of the most talked-about additions to Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The actor, who reprises his beloved role as Ned Leeds, recently opened up about the film’s innovative “Spidey Tracker” and explained why the feature perfectly reflects his character’s personality. Speaking to People magazine, Batalon shared that Ned’s intelligence has always been one of his defining qualities, making the new technology a natural extension of his journey.  “I think what’s really cool about Ned is that they never really lost his intelligence,” Batalon said during the interview. Since making his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Spider-Man: Homecoming, Ned has been known as Peter Parker’s trusted “guy in the chair,” using his technical skills to help Spider-Man behind the scenes. Even after the emotional events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the latest film continues to showcase Ned’s sharp mind in a fresh and exciting way.  In Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Ned develops the Spidey Tracker, an app designed to help locate Spider-Man across New York City. Ironically, because of Doctor Strange’s memory spell in No Way Home, Ned no longer remembers that Peter Parker is Spider-Man. As a result, he unknowingly spends his time tracking his former best friend without realizing their shared history. The emotional twist adds another layer to the character while staying true to the franchise’s ongoing storyline.  Beyond its role in the movie, the Spidey Tracker has also become a real-world experience for fans. Sony Pictures and Samsung partnered to launch an interactive version of the tracker, allowing fans to follow Spider-Man-themed events, explore global sightings, and connect with the film’s promotional campaign. Batalon praised the collaboration, saying Samsung’s foldable devices fit perfectly with Ned’s tech-loving personality and made the fictional app feel even more believable.  The actor also reflected on how much the Spider-Man franchise has meant to him over the past decade. Batalon expressed gratitude for growing alongside Tom Holland and Zendaya, describing his co-stars as family. He said the films not only shaped his career but also allowed him to build lasting friendships both on and off the screen.  Ned has long been a fan favorite because of his humor, loyalty, and intelligence, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day continues to build on those strengths. Rather than changing who the character is, the new film gives him another opportunity to showcase the skills that audiences have loved since 2017. With the Spidey Tracker serving as both a clever story element and an engaging fan experience, Batalon believes the feature captures everything that makes Ned special. As Spider-Man: Brand New Day continues its successful theatrical run, Batalon’s latest comments offer fans a deeper appreciation for one of the franchise’s most relatable characters. His enthusiasm for Ned’s evolution suggests there is still plenty of room for the character to grow in future Marvel adventures.
