Global crude oil prices climbed by more than $2 per barrel in the latest trading session, as a decline in US crude inventories boosted market sentiment and supported prices.

According to Reuters, the rise came after traders responded to signs of tighter oil supplies in the United States. A drop in crude stockpiles often signals stronger demand or reduced availability, which can encourage investors to push prices higher.

Oil prices had fallen in the previous session after tensions between Washington and Tehran showed signs of easing temporarily. However, the market regained momentum in the latest session as supply concerns returned to focus.

Brent crude futures gained $2.71, or 3.2%, to reach $86.80 per barrel. Meanwhile, US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures rose $2.26, or 3.4%, to trade at $81.95 per barrel.

Market participants continue to closely monitor developments in the Middle East, particularly any changes in US-Iran relations, as well as global supply conditions. Any renewed tensions in the region could further affect oil markets because of the Middle East’s importance to global energy supplies.

Analysts also expect traders to keep an eye on upcoming inventory data and broader demand trends. A combination of falling stockpiles, geopolitical uncertainty and concerns over supply could continue to create volatility in international oil prices in the coming sessions.

He said the appropriate legal and constitutional forum was available for any political party that wished to challenge the election process. According to Rana Sanaullah, the PPP had adopted a narrative of election rigging from the very beginning instead of waiting for the electoral process to conclude. He maintained that if the party had evidence, it should submit it to the Election Commission for investigation rather than relying on unverified videos and public statements.

The PSNI also confirmed that a comprehensive policing plan has been prepared in anticipation of potential demonstrations at the venues. Police stressed that while peaceful protest is a protected right, public safety and the rights of others must also be respected. A PSNI spokesperson said: “The right to freedom of speech and peaceful assembly are fundamental human rights. They are protected in law and allow individuals to engage in peaceful protest.” The spokesperson added: “However, these rights are limited by the need to uphold the rights of others, protect public health and safety, minimise disruption to normal life and by the need to prevent and detect crime.” Police further warned that action would be taken if any protest crossed legal boundaries or created an unacceptable impact on others. The spokesperson said: “If the Police Service identifies potential criminal offences, or unacceptable impact on the rights of others, we will take lawful and proportionate action.” Despite the controversy surrounding the series, Cricket Ireland has indicated that preparations will continue as planned, with organisers focused on ensuring the matches are staged in a safe and secure environment. The governing body has not announced any changes to the schedule. The five-match ODI series will begin at Bready Cricket Club, which will host the opening two matches before the action shifts to Stormont for the remaining three fixtures.
