Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye form military pow…

According to the Global Firepower Index, the combined military capabilities of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye have become more significant following the signing of a mutual defence agreement between the three countries.

The assessment describes the agreement as more than a conventional defence arrangement, saying it represents an effort to bring the military capabilities of three major regional powers into a coordinated defence partnership.

Together, the three countries have approximately 1.4 million active military personnel, around 3,415 military aircraft, 6,046 tanks and 344 naval assets, according to the assessment.

Pakistan plays a major role in the partnership, with around 660,000 active military personnel and a nuclear capability that significantly strengthens the combined strategic deterrence of the three countries.

Türkiye contributes a strong defence industry and advanced military capabilities. It has around 192 naval assets and substantial expertise in drones, missiles, sensors and electronic warfare.

Saudi Arabia, meanwhile, provides the largest financial contribution to the partnership. Its annual defence budget is estimated at around $63.9 billion. The kingdom’s strategic geographical position also gives it considerable importance within the proposed defence partnership.

The combined annual defence spending of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye is estimated at approximately $124.4 billion.

The figures indicate that the three countries collectively possess substantial manpower, air power, land forces and naval capabilities. Their combined resources could provide the partnership with greater strategic weight in regional security matters.

The assessment also highlights the different strengths each country could bring to the alliance. Pakistan contributes significant manpower and nuclear deterrence, Türkiye offers defence technology and military-industrial capabilities, while Saudi Arabia provides substantial financial resources and strategic geographic importance.

Together, these capabilities could create a broader and more diversified defence partnership among the three countries.

Over one million evacuated as Typhoon Dolphin makes landfall in eastern China

More than one million people have been evacuated across eastern China following the landfall of Typhoon Dolphin, which struck Zhejiang province on Sunday evening packing maximum sustained winds of 150 km/h. The system slammed into Yuhuan before making a second landfall in Wenzhou shortly after, forcing emergency relocations and widespread transport shutdowns. Meteorological authorities downgraded Dolphin to a tropical storm on Monday morning, but critical warnings remain active for severe urban flooding, torrential downpours, and landslides across eastern provinces through Wednesday. The severe weather triggered massive transport disruptions, including the cancellation of 1,400 flights in Shanghai alone. In Wenzhou, officials relocated roughly 900,000 residents and opened over 1,000 emergency shelters, while Taizhou evacuated 390,000 people. In Shanghai, urban flooding submerged ground-floor businesses in high-traffic tourist areas, prompting major attractions like Disneyland and Legoland to halt operations. In Fujian province, maritime agencies suspended dozens of passenger ferry routes and shut down over 100 offshore construction projects. Search operations are underway in Wenling, Zhejiang, for a nine-year-old boy who remains missing after being swept into the sea. Chinese state media also confirmed the arrest of two individuals accused of fabricating and spreading AI-generated misinformation about storm casualties online. Before striking mainland China, the storm system intensified monsoon conditions across the region, causing eight deaths in the Philippines and injuring five elderly residents in Okinawa, Japan.

Police register kidnapping case after six-year-old…

Rawalpindi police have registered a kidnapping case after an extensive day-long search failed to locate a six-year-old girl who disappeared near Committee Chowk, prompting authorities to launch a formal criminal investigation while continuing search efforts. The missing child, identified as Hareem Umair, vanished near Landa Bazaar on Thursday morning after her family, who had travelled from Lahore to visit relatives in Rawalpindi, prepared to return home. According to police, her father, Umair Ali, realised she was missing while helping his children into the family vehicle following heavy overnight rainfall. The disappearance triggered a large-scale rescue operation led by Rescue 1122 amid concerns that the child may have been swept away by fast-flowing rainwater in the area’s drainage system. Heavy rainfall had caused stormwater drains and Nullah Leh to overflow, complicating search efforts. Rescue teams divided the search area into four sectors, covering more than four kilometres from the site of the disappearance through Bohar Bazaar Chowk, Colonel Maqbool Chowk, Liaquat Road, Gawalmandi, and extending to Moti Mahal Bridge. Officials searched both open and covered sections of the drainage network. According to Rescue 1122, two specialised water rescue teams, consisting of 12 rescuers and five emergency vehicles, participated in the operation. The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) also assisted in the search. Despite the extensive effort, no trace of the child was found before the operation was temporarily suspended after sunset due to poor visibility. Officials said the search would resume the following morning. Speaking to the media, Hareem’s father said he immediately searched nearby streets and questioned security personnel and relatives after discovering that his daughter was missing. He told police that the street was submerged under approximately one foot of rainwater at the time of the incident, leaving uncertainty over whether the child had been swept away or abducted. Following the unsuccessful search, relatives and local residents staged a protest at Bohar Bazaar Chowk, demanding intensified efforts to recover the missing girl. The demonstration continued for more than an hour before police assured protesters that every available resource would be used to continue both the investigation and the search operation. Waris Khan Police subsequently registered a First Information Report (FIR) under Section 363 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which relates to kidnapping. Authorities say both rescue operations and the criminal investigation remain ongoing as efforts continue to locate the missing child.

Dr Nabiha Ali Khan addresses Haris Khokhar’s divorce notice

Social media personality and medical professional Dr. Nabiha Ali Khan has formally addressed receiving a divorce notice from her husband, Haris Khokhar, bringing a definitive end to months of intense public speculation surrounding their fractured marriage. The couple, whose lavish wedding celebrations previously went viral across Pakistani digital platforms, found themselves at the center of overwhelming online scrutiny following rumors of a rift. Public concern intensified after Dr. Nabiha spoke candidly during a live television appearance, breaking down in tears as she detailed severe emotional distress and alleged ongoing interference from her in-laws. Confirming the latest legal developments, Dr. Nabiha acknowledged the receipt of the formal divorce notice initiated by Khokhar, stating that personal differences and mounting friction had made reconciliation impossible. She shared that despite making genuine efforts to preserve her home and prioritize family life over her professional commitments, the relationship deteriorated beyond repair. The dispute sparked a fierce online debate, particularly after Khokhar issued public statements refuting his wife’s claims. Denying allegations of mistreatment, Khokhar maintained that his family had been unfairly maligned on live broadcasts and asserted that the decision to part ways stemmed from irreconcilable personal incompatibilities rather than domestic misconduct. Responding to the ongoing media storm, Dr. Nabiha voiced deep frustration over how their private ordeal has been monetized by content creators and digital news outlets. She issued a direct plea to netizens and social media commentators, asking them to refrain from sensationalizing the dissolution of her marriage for online engagement. ”I request everyone to please stop making content out of our personal life. This is a private family matter, and turning someone’s emotional pain into social media debate is deeply unfair. I built my home with love, and despite the differences that led us here, I ask that people respect both sides and refrain from spreading further hostility.” Reflecting on the painful transition, Dr. Nabiha emphasized that while she had consistently hoped for a peaceful resolution, the legal notice officially sets the divorce process in motion. She urged her followers and the wider public to give both families the necessary space and privacy to navigate the formal legal proceedings dignifiedly without enduring further public trials on social media.
