Pakistan’s major dams reach 72% storage capa…

Pakistan’s water reserves have improved significantly, with the country’s major reservoirs now filled to 72% of their total storage capacity, according to official data released on Sunday.

The latest figures show that the combined water storage in the country’s key reservoirs has reached 9.466 million acre-feet (MAF), compared with a total storage capacity of 13.149 million acre-feet.

Officials said the improvement follows a substantial increase in water inflows across the Indus River system, with inflows significantly exceeding outflows. The higher inflow has helped replenish major dams and strengthen the country’s water reserves.

The increase in reservoir levels is expected to support irrigation needs, improve water availability for agriculture and enhance overall water management during the current season.

Authorities continue to monitor inflows and reservoir levels as the monsoon season contributes to rising water storage across the country’s major dams.

Burnt body found in Karachi car identified through…

A partially burnt body discovered inside a car in Karachi’s Surjani Town has been identified through biometric technology after an initial case of mistaken identity complicated the investigation. According to police, the body was recovered from a vehicle in Shah Beg Goth, located in Karachi’s District West. At first, investigators believed the deceased was 42-year-old Zeeshan Naz, based on documents, a mobile phone, and the vehicle found at the scene. However, when the suspected victim’s family was contacted, they identified the recovered belongings but stated that the body did not belong to their relative. The conflicting information prompted investigators to expand the scope of their inquiry. Police used biometric verification and other technical methods to establish the victim’s identity. The biometric scan confirmed that the deceased was 38-year-old Qurban Hussain, son of Ghulam Sabir Khan. After confirming the identity, police traced and contacted the victim’s family. Authorities said Qurban Hussain originally belonged to Muzaffargarh but had been living with his wife in North Karachi Sector 7-A, where he worked as a sanitation worker. His wife, Sakina Bibi, later identified the body, bringing an end to the uncertainty surrounding the victim’s identity. Police said the discovery marks significant progress in the investigation, although several questions about the case remain unanswered. Investigators are now trying to determine how the victim ended up inside the vehicle and the circumstances that led to his death. They are also searching for the individual connected to the documents and mobile phone recovered from the car, as those items do not belong to the deceased. Authorities believe tracing that person could provide important leads in the homicide investigation. Police have confirmed that a murder case is being registered, and further investigations are underway to identify those responsible. Forensic evidence, digital records, and witness statements are expected to play a key role in uncovering the sequence of events. The case highlights the importance of biometric technology in criminal investigations, particularly when victims are difficult to identify due to the condition of the body. By combining forensic techniques with technical investigations, law enforcement officials were able to establish the victim’s identity despite the initial confusion. Authorities have not yet disclosed a motive or announced any arrests. Investigators say they are pursuing multiple leads and are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward as the investigation continues.

The action was taken after inspections revealed that several businesses were operating without complying with mandatory fire safety requirements. The action was taken after inspections revealed that several businesses were operating without complying with mandatory fire safety requirements. According to officials, Deputy Commissioner South Javed Nabi Khoso submitted a report to Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi detailing enforcement measures taken against businesses found in violation of fire safety laws across the district. The report stated that the sealed shops are primarily located on the ground floor of Bilal Centre and Koh Noor Centre in Saddar. Authorities found that these commercial units failed to meet prescribed fire safety standards and were operating in conditions considered unsafe for customers and employees. The crackdown forms part of a broader campaign to improve compliance with fire prevention regulations in Karachi’s busy commercial districts. Officials have emphasized that ensuring public safety remains a top priority, particularly in crowded shopping centers where inadequate emergency measures can increase the risk of serious incidents. Following the inspection drive, Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi directed all deputy commissioners in the city to strictly enforce fire safety regulations and take action against businesses that fail to comply with legal requirements. The directive aims to improve safety standards in markets, shopping centers, and commercial buildings throughout Karachi. Fire safety regulations typically require commercial establishments to maintain functioning fire extinguishers, emergency exits, alarm systems, and other protective measures designed to reduce the risk of fire-related accidents. Authorities have warned that businesses found violating these requirements may face sealing, fines, or additional legal action until the necessary safety measures are implemented. The latest enforcement drive reflects growing efforts by the city administration to strengthen public safety following concerns over fire hazards in commercial areas. Shop owners whose businesses have been sealed will be required to address the identified deficiencies and meet the prescribed safety standards before they can resume operations. Officials have indicated that inspections will continue across Karachi to ensure compliance with fire safety laws, with similar action expected against other businesses that fail to meet the required standards. The administration has urged commercial property owners and traders to fully implement fire safety measures to avoid penalties and help create a safer environment for workers and the public.

New details emerge about Kelly Osbourne and Sid Wi…

Kelly Osbourne and Sid Wilson have reportedly ended their engagement after months of relationship challenges, bringing an end to a romance that had captured the attention of fans following their surprise engagement in 2025. According to a new report from People magazine, the television personality, 41, and the Slipknot DJ, 49, recently decided to go their separate ways after experiencing ongoing difficulties in their relationship. An insider claimed the pair had been struggling for several months before reaching the decision to end their engagement.  The couple first began dating in early 2022 after being friends for more than two decades. They welcomed their son, Sidney, later that year and announced their engagement in July 2025 during Ozzy Osbourne’s final Black Sabbath concert in Birmingham. At the time, the proposal was celebrated by family members and fans, making the reported breakup all the more surprising.  A source close to the situation told People that Osbourne “is not happy” and no longer wants unnecessary drama in her life. The insider added that she is currently prioritizing peace, focusing on raising her son, and supporting her mother, Sharon Osbourne, following the death of her father, rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, in July 2025.  In recent days, Osbourne also shared a series of emotional Instagram Stories that appeared to reference the breakup. While she did not mention Wilson by name, she spoke about protecting her son, moving forward with her life, and asked for the return of personal belongings and pets. She also appeared to reference child support, fueling further speculation about the state of their relationship. Neither Osbourne nor Wilson has publicly commented directly on the reported split.  The breakup comes during an especially emotional period for Osbourne. In addition to grieving the loss of her father, she has largely stepped away from the spotlight to focus on her family and personal well-being. Sources say the combination of grief, changing priorities, and ongoing relationship issues placed significant strain on the engagement over the past several months.  Meanwhile, Wilson has also faced professional uncertainty after reports claimed he was removed from Slipknot, although neither the band nor the musician has officially confirmed those reports. The timing has only added to speculation surrounding the former couple’s recent challenges.  Although the engagement appears to be over, both Osbourne and Wilson remain devoted parents to their young son. For now, those close to the family say Osbourne’s focus is on creating a stable environment for Sidney while taking time to heal from a series of personal hardships. While neither star has issued an official statement about the breakup, the latest reports suggest that after months of trying to make the relationship work, Kelly Osbourne and Sid Wilson have chosen separate paths as they begin a new chapter in their lives.
