SEA – ART – CRAFT festival to open in Cha Am from 8-10 May
The first SEA – ART – CRAFT festival will take place in Cha Am from May 8-10, bringing together music, art, food and community products from four provinces in the Lower Central Provinces Cluster 2.
The event will be held at the Cha Am Beach viewpoint in Phetchaburi and is open to the public free of charge.
A press conference was held on April 30 on the beach in front of Long Beach Hotel in Cha Am to announce details of the event, which is part of the International Cultural, Artistic and Craft Project of Phetchamut-Kiri.
The project involves Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Samut Sakhon and Samut Songkhram, and aims to promote the area’s tourism potential to a wider audience.
The press conference was attended by Wanphen Mangsri, Deputy Governor of Phetchaburi; Preeda Sukjai, Deputy Governor of Prachuap Khiri Khan; Pimrak Lakthong, Tourism and Sports Officer for Samut Songkhram; Phanphimon Chayajitchayawat, Tourism and Sports Officer for Samut Sakhon; and Maka Phuchinda, Tourism and Sports Officer for Phetchaburi.
Also attending were Duangjai Khumsaat, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Phetchaburi Office; Wasan Kittikul, President of the Thai Hotels Association Western Chapter; government officials, members of the media, local residents and tourists.
Festival to combine sea, art and local crafts
Wanphen said Phetchaburi, as the main host province, had worked with the three other provinces to organise the event under the concept of “SEA – ART – CRAFT”.
She said the concept brings together local identity and resources, including the sea, art and handicrafts, to create a new tourism experience.
Activities during the three-day festival will include contemporary art exhibitions, outdoor sculptures and workshops by traditional Phetchaburi artisans.
There will also be booths selling community products, local food and fresh seafood from the four provinces, along with a cooking competition using ingredients from the area.
Other highlights will include beachside live music, cultural performances, a light and sound show, a balloon show and concerts by KLEAR, LOSERPOP and Scrubb.
Organisers said the SEA – ART – CRAFT festival is intended to support the regional tourism economy, generate income for local communities and promote the Lower Central Provinces Cluster 2 as a quality tourism destination.
