Security forces eliminate militants in KP intellig…

Security forces have intensified intelligence-based operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the past two months, resulting in the killing of multiple militants and the destruction of several militant hideouts, according to security sources.

The operations were conducted under Operation 11 Gurj, which is aimed at dismantling militant networks and preventing terrorist activities in the province. During the campaign, security forces carried out a series of targeted raids based on intelligence reports in different districts.

According to the sources, several militants were killed during these operations, while their hideouts were successfully destroyed. The forces also apprehended a number of suspected facilitators believed to have been providing logistical and operational support to militant groups.

Security personnel recovered a large quantity of weapons, ammunition and other military equipment during the raids. Officials said the seized material was intended to be used in future terrorist attacks.

One of the major operations was conducted in the Shakro area of Bajaur district, where security forces targeted militant hideouts after receiving credible intelligence. Reports indicated that several militants were killed, while others sustained injuries during the operation.

The forces also located and destroyed multiple improvised explosive devices (IEDs) found in the area. Officials said eliminating these explosives helped prevent potential attacks and improved the safety of local residents.

Ground troops, supported by quadcopter surveillance, were used throughout the operations to identify militant positions and monitor movements before launching precise strikes. Security officials said the use of modern surveillance technology enhanced the effectiveness of the operations and reduced risks to security personnel.

According to security sources, the operations form part of an ongoing campaign to eliminate militant infrastructure, disrupt terrorist networks and strengthen peace and stability across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Authorities reiterated that intelligence-based operations will continue until all militant elements are dismantled and the security situation is fully brought under control.

Benjamin Netanyahu rejects Donald Trump’s 15-point peace plan for Gaza amidst high-stakes diplomatic rift

A high-stakes rift has emerged between Washington and Jerusalem following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s explicit rejection of Donald Trump’s 15-point proposal for Gaza, with Israel insisting on maintaining a military presence until Hamas is fully disarmed. Under the framework put forward by Trump’s Board of Peace last month, terms were outlined for the reduction or withdrawal of military personnel and weapons across specified zones. Hamas responded by stating that relinquishing its arsenal remains conditional upon Israel ending all forms of aggression and withdrawing its forces from Gaza entirely. Despite an agreement reached last October to pause hostilities in the territory, Israeli strikes inside Gaza have continued. Addressing a cabinet meeting on Sunday, Netanyahu stated that Israel rejects the 15-point document. He stressed that the Israeli military will not execute any troop withdrawals until Hamas undergoes genuine disarmament, adding that forces will continue to counter active threats to safeguard personnel and citizens. Although Trump previously hailed the initiative as a major milestone toward lasting regional stability after Hamas indicated acceptance of a demilitarisation strategy, Netanyahu emphasised that disarmament must precede any Israeli pullback, warning against what he described as a fictitious disarmament process. Netanyahu is engaged in crucial discussions with American officials regarding next steps, marking another hurdle for Trump’s Gaza peace initiative originally unveiled in September last year. The proposed plan centres on establishing a Board of Peace tasked with overseeing the demilitarisation of Hamas, supervising the exit of Israeli troops, and directing reconstruction efforts throughout Gaza.

Ammad Ali honoured with KP youth excellence award …

HARIPUR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has honoured Ammad Ali, founder and Chief Executive Officer of RankingGrow, with the Youth Excellence Award for his contributions to youth development, digital skills training and efforts to create greater opportunities for young people, particularly those living in underserved areas of the province. The award was presented by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Taj Muhammad Khan Tarand during a ceremony organised by the Directorate of Youth Affairs to mark International Youth Day. Ali founded RankingGrow, a digital marketing and IT services company that has been involved in initiatives aimed at equipping young people with practical digital skills and improving their access to professional training and employment opportunities. Through RankingGrow and other youth-focused initiatives, Ali has supported training programmes, workshops and community-based activities in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. These programmes have particularly targeted areas where young people have fewer opportunities to access modern technology, professional education, career guidance and exposure to the digital industry. The training initiatives have focused on practical and market-oriented skills that can help young people become financially independent and participate in the growing digital economy. Areas covered by these programmes include digital marketing, search engine optimisation, social media marketing, graphic design, video editing, web development, artificial intelligence, freelancing and entrepreneurship. The programmes aim to bridge the gap between traditional education and the skills increasingly demanded by employers and clients in the digital marketplace. By providing young people with relevant technical and professional skills, the initiatives seek to help participants explore employment opportunities, start freelancing careers or establish their own businesses. Ali has also received recognition for his work on other occasions. He was previously awarded the Pride of Pakistan Award under the patronage of the President of Pakistan in acknowledgement of his services and contributions. In addition, he has received other recognitions for his efforts in youth empowerment, digital skills development and community-oriented initiatives. Speaking at the award ceremony, Ali said the recognition would encourage him and his team to expand their efforts to provide young people with skills that are relevant to the changing job market. He expressed his commitment to continuing initiatives that can help young people gain access to professional opportunities and participate more effectively in the digital economy. Ali emphasised the importance of ensuring that young people from smaller cities and underserved communities are not left behind as digital technology continues to transform the employment landscape. According to him, access to digital skills and professional opportunities should not be limited to young people living in major urban centres. The Youth Excellence Award also highlights the growing importance of cooperation between government institutions, private-sector organisations and community-led initiatives in addressing challenges related to youth employment, entrepreneurship and skills development. With Khyber Pakhtunkhwa having a large and growing youth population, initiatives focused on digital education and employable skills can provide young people with alternative pathways to employment and entrepreneurship. The recognition of Ali’s work reflects the contribution of such initiatives towards creating opportunities for young people and strengthening their participation in the province’s economic and social development.

Woman killed as 11kV power line falls in Lahore

A tragic accident claimed the life of a woman in Lahore on Wednesday after an 11-kilovolt (11kV) high-voltage electricity wire snapped and fell on her near Sheikh Hospital in the city’s Muslim Town area, officials said. According to rescue authorities, the woman was walking along the roadside with her young daughter when the live power line suddenly collapsed, causing a powerful electric shock. She suffered severe burns and died at the scene before emergency responders could provide medical assistance. Rescue teams rushed to the area immediately after receiving reports of the incident. However, officials were unable to recover the victim’s body until electricity to the damaged line was disconnected due to the danger posed by the live 11kV wire. Fortunately, the woman’s daughter escaped the incident unharmed despite being with her at the time of the accident. Witnesses described the child’s survival as miraculous, saying she narrowly avoided contact with the live cable. Authorities promptly informed the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO), which dispatched technical teams to disconnect the power supply and remove the damaged wires. Rescue personnel and police remained at the scene while engineers worked to secure the area and prevent further danger to pedestrians and motorists. Police have launched an investigation to determine what caused the high-voltage line to fall. Officials will examine whether recent weather conditions, aging infrastructure, or a technical fault contributed to the incident. The victim’s identity has not yet been officially released, and her body will be shifted for legal formalities once the area is declared safe. The incident has once again raised serious concerns over the safety and maintenance of electrical infrastructure in densely populated urban areas. Residents urged authorities to conduct immediate inspections of overhead power lines to prevent similar tragedies. Emergency officials also advised the public to stay away from fallen electrical wires and report such hazards immediately, warning that even wires lying on the ground can remain live and extremely dangerous until disconnected by utility workers.

Pipeline blast disrupts gas supply across Balochis…

QUETTA: Gas supplies to Quetta and several areas of Balochistan were suspended on Thursday after an explosion damaged a major gas pipeline in the Bolan region. Officials said the blast occurred near Gokurt. An 18-inch-diameter pipeline was damaged by an explosive device near its valve assembly. The damaged facility is located around 800 metres from the National Highway. The explosion disrupted gas supplies to Quetta, Kolpur, Mach, Mastung, Kalat, Pishin and Ziarat. Flames reportedly emerged from the damaged pipeline shortly after the blast. The area was secured to prevent further danger and allow authorities to inspect the site. The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) said repair teams would be sent to the location after security clearance is granted. Engineers and technical teams will assess the damage first. Restoration work will begin after the site is declared safe. The company has not yet announced when gas supplies will be fully restored. The suspension has caused concern among residents and businesses in the affected areas. Many households depend on the gas network for cooking and other daily needs. Businesses and commercial establishments may also face difficulties if the disruption continues for an extended period. Security authorities have started investigating the explosion. Officials are also examining the circumstances surrounding the damage to the pipeline. The incident highlights continuing security concerns surrounding energy infrastructure in Balochistan. Gas pipelines in the province have previously been targeted in similar attacks. A similar incident was reported in Balochistan earlier this year. In March, an 18-inch gas pipeline near the Western Bypass in Harnai’s Akhtarabad area was damaged in an explosion. Explosives had reportedly been planted beneath the pipeline. The blast destroyed a significant section of the infrastructure and disrupted gas supplies to several areas. The earlier incident affected parts of Quetta and upper Balochistan. Several localities, including Airport Road, Nawan Kali, Jinnah Town, Hazarganji, Kuchlak, Pishin and Ziarat, experienced disruptions. The March explosion also caused a major fire. Large flames were seen rising from the damaged pipeline, creating panic among people living nearby. Authorities are continuing their investigation into Thursday’s blast. Security officials will also determine the extent of the damage and assess the measures required to protect the pipeline network.
