Shahid Afridi and Shaheen Celebrate Aliyar’s Birthday Bash

Shahid Afridi is one of Pakistan’s most celebrated sports personalities, and his family has remained a familiar name in the public eye over the years. From cricket achievements to family milestones, the Afridis often attract attention from fans who enjoy getting a glimpse into their lives away from the cricket field.

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has always shared a close bond with his family, and his role as a grandfather has given fans another reason to follow his personal moments. His daughter’s husband, Shaheen Shah Afridi, is also one of Pakistan’s most prominent cricketers. The left-arm fast bowler has established himself as an important figure in international cricket and enjoys a huge following both in Pakistan and abroad.

Shaheen is married to Shahid Afridi’s daughter, Ansha Afridi, and the couple welcomed their first child, a son named Aliyar. Since becoming parents, Shaheen and Ansha have occasionally shared glimpses of their little boy with their followers. Although they generally keep many aspects of his life private, special occasions have allowed fans to see some of the family’s happiest moments.

Aliyar recently celebrated a special birthday, and his family made the occasion memorable with a fun jungle-themed celebration. The colourful theme added a playful touch to the gathering, creating a cheerful setting for the little one’s big day. Family celebrations such as these have become especially meaningful for the Afridis, as Aliyar holds a special place in the hearts of his grandparents and parents.

Shahid Afridi also joined in the celebrations and shared photographs from the occasion. The former cricketer appeared to be enjoying the special family gathering, giving fans a glimpse of the birthday festivities. As a grandfather, Afridi has often shown his affection for the younger members of his family, and Aliyar is clearly one of the most cherished little members of the Afridi household.

Shaheen Afridi also shared moments from the celebration, allowing followers to see more of the joyful occasion. The pictures captured the warm family atmosphere surrounding Aliyar’s birthday and highlighted the happiness shared by everyone who came together to celebrate.

The jungle-inspired decorations gave the birthday a fun and playful character, making it a fitting theme for a young child. From the decorations to the family photographs, every detail reflected the effort put into making Aliyar’s special day memorable.

For fans, the celebration was also an opportunity to see a more personal side of the famous cricket family. Shahid Afridi is widely known for his remarkable cricket career, while Shaheen continues to represent Pakistan on the international stage. However, moments like Aliyar’s birthday offer a glimpse into their lives as a family rather than as sporting celebrities.

Aliyar’s arrival has added another generation to the well-known Afridi family, and his special occasions are naturally celebrated with plenty of love and excitement. With both his grandfather and father sharing moments from his birthday, the jungle-themed celebration quickly became a sweet family highlight.

As fans continue to follow Shahid and Shaheen Afridi’s cricket journeys, they are equally interested in the family milestones that bring them closer to their supporters. Aliyar’s birthday was one such occasion, filled with family love, cheerful decorations and memorable moments.

Ariana Grande sues hackers over unreleased music

Ariana Grande has taken legal action against those responsible for years of music leaks, filing a lawsuit against two unidentified individuals she alleges hacked into the private digital accounts of photographers and producers within her inner circle and walked away with hundreds of unreleased songs, behind-the-scenes photographs, and private video and audio recordings from her creative process. The complaint, filed on Monday, July 27, paints a picture of sustained and deliberate theft that stretches back years. According to the filing, the stolen material was never intended for public consumption and was subsequently sold on the dark web, turning the private moments of Grande’s creative life into a commodity traded without her knowledge or consent. The scale of what was taken is considerable. “In 2023 alone, 45 unreleased songs belonging to Ms. Grande were hacked, stolen, and leaked by Defendants,” the complaint alleged. “Since her music debut in 2011, hundreds of similar leaks have taken place.” The cumulative picture that emerges is of an artist who has spent over a decade watching work she had not chosen to release being stripped from her and shared with the world on someone else’s timeline. Grande is also asking the court to assist in identifying the individuals behind the alleged cyberattacks, suggesting that the full extent of who is responsible remains under investigation. A source close to the singer framed the lawsuit in terms that extended beyond her own situation. “The lawsuit is intended to serve as a deterrent against future acts of this nature, not only targeting Ariana, but also the many artists who have faced similar invasions of their privacy and theft of their creative work,” the source told People magazine. “Artists deserve the right to control how and when their art is shared with the world. The unlawful theft and distribution of creative work undermines that right and should not be tolerated.” The lawsuit carries a particular irony given what Grande herself said publicly years before it became reality. While promoting Eternal Sunshine on the Zach Sang Show, she had reacted to the viral leak of Fantasize with a warning that now sounds entirely prophetic. “We were, before I left for Wicked, a few studio sessions that I did which are all over TikTok, thank you so much, I’ll see you in jail. Literally,” she had said. She described the leaked material as having been written for a separate television project and was unambiguous about her feelings toward those responsible. “These pirates, crooks, illegal!” she said. For Grande, the filing of this lawsuit is a statement that the theft of an artist’s creative work is not a victimless act. It is an invasion, and she intends to hold those responsible accountable for it.

Hepatitis screening made mandatory for Islamabad e…

The federal government has decided to launch mandatory hepatitis screening for all government employees in Islamabad. Employees working in federal ministries will also be required to undergo screening. The move is part of the government’s efforts to detect hepatitis cases at an early stage and provide timely treatment. According to sources in the Ministry of Health, the screening will be conducted under the Prime Minister’s Hepatitis Programme. The programme aims to identify people infected with hepatitis and connect them with free diagnostic and treatment facilities. Employees who test positive during the initial screening will be referred for a PCR test. The PCR test will be provided free of cost under the programme. The government will also provide free medicines to patients after completion of the PCR testing process. The initiative is intended to reduce the financial burden on patients and ensure that those diagnosed with hepatitis receive proper treatment. The Prime Minister’s Hepatitis Programme has a total allocation of Rs67 billion. The funds will be used for screening, diagnostic tests, treatment and other measures aimed at controlling the spread of hepatitis. Free hepatitis screening is already being conducted at different locations across Islamabad. The government plans to expand the screening process to federal government employees as part of the wider programme. Sources said more than 50,000 hepatitis screening kits have already been purchased. The kits will be used to screen employees and identify suspected cases. Machinery for PCR testing has also been installed at the National Institutes of Health in Islamabad. The facility will help process tests for people who are found positive during the initial screening. Health authorities are focusing on early diagnosis because many hepatitis patients may not show clear symptoms in the initial stages. Regular screening can help identify infections before they cause serious health complications. The mandatory screening of government employees is therefore being seen as an important step in strengthening hepatitis prevention and treatment efforts in the federal capital.

New CCTV footage emerges in Mir Raza Ali murder in…

A significant development has emerged in the investigation into the murder of Mir Raza Ali, a young resident of Karachi’s PECHS area, as police continue to gather evidence and analyze new surveillance footage to determine the circumstances surrounding the case. According to investigators, a newly obtained CCTV recording shows Mir Raza Ali walking along a street shortly before the incident. During the footage, he appears to remove a glowing object from his pocket and throw it away while continuing on foot. Police believe the object seen in the video is likely to be a mobile phone, although forensic analysis is still underway to confirm its identity. Officials said a local resident had earlier informed police about the location where a mobile phone was found. The spot reportedly matches the location visible in the CCTV footage where the illuminated object was discarded, strengthening investigators’ efforts to establish a timeline of events. Police have since collected additional evidence from the area where the phone was recovered. Investigators are examining the location for forensic clues that may help determine what happened before the victim’s death and whether anyone else was present at the scene. Authorities also confirmed that more CCTV footage tracing Mir Raza Ali’s movements has been obtained from nearby locations. The investigation team is carrying out a detailed technical and forensic examination of these recordings to reconstruct the victim’s final movements and identify any individuals who may have come into contact with him. Law enforcement officials said the investigation remains active and that all available evidence is being carefully reviewed. Detectives are comparing CCTV footage, forensic findings, witness statements, and digital evidence to establish a clearer picture of the events leading up to the murder. Police have not yet announced any arrests or identified suspects in connection with the case. They emphasized that multiple aspects of the investigation are being examined and that conclusions will only be drawn after all evidence has been thoroughly analyzed. The emergence of the latest CCTV footage is considered an important development because it may help investigators verify key details of the victim’s movements before the incident. However, officials cautioned that the investigation is still in progress, and no final determination has been made regarding the significance of the recovered mobile phone or its possible connection to the crime. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to pursuing every lead and using forensic and technical analysis to ensure that those responsible for Mir Raza Ali’s death are identified and brought to justice.

Pakistan’s Abdullah Iqbal makes history in UEFA Champions League

STOCKHOLM: Pakistani international Abdullah Iqbal has achieved a major milestone in the country’s football history by becoming the first Pakistan national team player to feature in a UEFA Champions League qualifying match. The historic moment came when the defender made his debut for Swedish club Mjällby AIF during their UEFA Champions League qualifying fixture against Gibraltar’s Lincoln Red Imps on Tuesday. Iqbal entered the match in the 62nd minute, marking a landmark achievement for both his career and Pakistani football. His appearance places him among a select group of Pakistani footballers to compete on one of Europe’s biggest club football stages. The 26-year-old has become an important figure for Pakistan’s national team in recent years and is widely regarded as one of the country’s most accomplished overseas-based footballers. His Champions League qualifying debut is expected to inspire young footballers in Pakistan, where the sport has been striving for greater international recognition. Although Pakistani-origin footballer Atta Hussain previously played in UEFA Champions League qualifiers, he had not yet represented Pakistan at the international level at the time. Abdullah Iqbal is therefore the first player to achieve the milestone after officially representing the Pakistan national team. Football fans across Pakistan celebrated the achievement on social media, describing it as another proud moment for the country’s growing presence in international football. Many supporters praised Iqbal’s dedication and expressed hope that his success would encourage more Pakistani players to pursue professional careers in Europe. The achievement also highlights the increasing impact of overseas-based Pakistani footballers, who continue to strengthen the national team with experience gained in competitive European leagues. While Abdullah Iqbal’s appearance came in the qualifying rounds rather than the Champions League group stage, it remains a historic first for Pakistan and another sign of the country’s gradual progress on the international football scene. His landmark debut is expected to inspire the next generation of Pakistani footballers dreaming of competing at the highest level of European club football.

PSX opens higher as KSE-100 index gains over 500 points

KARACHI: Buying activity dominated trading at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Thursday, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index rising more than 500 points during the early session. At around 9:45am, the benchmark index was trading at 180,864.26 points, recording an increase of 553.05 points, or 0.31%, from the previous close. The positive trend reflected renewed investor interest in several major sectors. Strong activity was witnessed in cement, commercial banking, fertiliser, oil marketing companies (OMCs) and power generation stocks. Several index-heavy companies also contributed to the upward movement. HUBCO, Fauji Fertilizer Company (FFC), MCB Bank, National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and United Bank Limited (UBL) were among the stocks trading in positive territory during the early hours. The latest gains come after the stock market staged a recovery in the previous session. On Wednesday, the PSX rebounded as investors returned to buying after two consecutive sessions of profit-taking. Market sentiment also improved toward the end of Wednesday’s trading session following reports regarding an extension of the US-Iran ceasefire, which helped ease some concerns among investors about geopolitical developments and their potential impact on regional markets. The KSE-100 Index ultimately closed Wednesday’s session at 180,311.22 points. Global markets provide positive cues The positive momentum at the domestic bourse was also supported by a broadly upbeat trend in Asian equity markets. Asian stocks advanced on Thursday after fresh US inflation data broadly matched market expectations. The figures reduced some expectations of an immediate tightening move by the US Federal Reserve and provided support to investor sentiment. MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan rose 0.97%, while South Korea’s benchmark market climbed sharply, gaining 4.4%. Japan’s Nikkei index also advanced 1.86%. US stock futures remained relatively stable, with S&P 500 E-mini futures up 0.02% during the Asian trading session. US inflation remains in focus According to data released on Wednesday, US consumer prices increased by 0.1% in July, broadly matching economists’ expectations. The modest increase in consumer prices has lowered expectations of an immediate interest-rate hike by the Federal Reserve. Market participants are closely monitoring inflation figures as they assess the central bank’s next policy move. According to CME Group’s FedWatch tool, financial markets were pricing in around a 40% probability of a rate hike next month, down from approximately 54% a week earlier. Oil prices remain near $80 Meanwhile, international oil prices remained close to the $80-per-barrel level, as diplomatic efforts between Washington and Tehran remained unresolved. Developments in oil prices remain important for Pakistan’s economy and financial markets because changes in global crude prices can influence the country’s import bill, inflation outlook, exchange-rate pressures and corporate earnings. Investors at the PSX are expected to closely monitor both domestic economic developments and international market cues as trading progresses on Thursday.
