Pakistan Peoples Party Senator Sherry Rehman has criticised India’s water policies, accusing New Delhi of using the flood situation as a tool of “water aggression” against Pakistan.

In a statement, Sherry Rehman said India was adopting a contradictory approach by threatening to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty while also releasing floodwater towards Pakistan.

She claimed that India opened the gates of the Salal Dam, putting millions of Pakistanis at risk of flooding. She stressed that river water management should be handled responsibly and should not become a source of conflict between the two countries.

The senator said India’s alleged failure to provide timely information about water flows had created uncertainty, particularly regarding the flow of the Chenab River.

She warned that sudden changes in the river’s water levels could affect Pakistan’s irrigation system and agriculture. The Chenab River supports millions of acres of farmland in Punjab, and any unexpected increase or decrease in water flow could damage crops and impact farmers’ livelihoods.

Sherry Rehman said Pakistan’s agricultural economy depends heavily on the proper management of river systems. She added that uncertain water policies could increase risks for farmers and create challenges for the country’s water security.

She urged India to respect existing water agreements and follow international commitments. She said western rivers under the Indus Waters Treaty cannot be diverted, stored, or transferred in a manner that affects Pakistan’s water supply.

    Veteran writer and director Hafeez Tahir, the creator of the iconic Pakistani fantasy television series Ainak Wala Jin, has strongly criticised the makers of the recently released AI-generated film adaptation, alleging that his original work was used without his permission. The AI-based adaptation was released in cinemas earlier this month, prompting Tahir to share a video on Instagram in which he expressed his disappointment and urged the public to spread awareness about what he described as the unauthorised use of his creation. In the caption accompanying the video, he referred to the matter as “daylight robbery.” Speaking directly to viewers, Tahir asserted that Ainak Wala Jin was entirely his original creation. “Today I am very angry because my life’s work, Ainak Wala Jin, is being taken and its name is being used in an AI-generated film that has been released in theatres. I’d like to tell you all that this is my idea, my concept, my creation,” he said. The veteran filmmaker further explained his role in developing the beloved television series. “I am the concept writer. I created the name, I directed it and made a quality serial,” Tahir stated. He added that he later sold the rights to a private television channel, which, according to him, continues to benefit from the show’s popularity by attracting millions of views through YouTube uploads. Tahir also alleged that neither the filmmaker nor the cinema releasing the AI adaptation sought his approval before using the title and concept. “Neither the filmmaker nor the cinema that released the film sought my permission,” he claimed. The creator further criticised the heavy reliance on artificial intelligence in the adaptation, arguing that it stripped away the originality and emotional appeal of the classic television series. “To take a series and base it on AI is to ruin an iconic idea. They’ve changed the appearance of the characters and destroyed them,” he said. They have changed the original characters, their voices and replaced them with AI-generated music. In this way, they have ruined such a beautiful idea.” Concluding his statement, Tahir suggested he may pursue legal action over the matter. “Now tell me, should we stay quiet or move forward and take legal action?” he asked. The video drew significant attention online, with many fans supporting Tahir and expressing concern over the use of artificial intelligence to recreate a cherished Pakistani television classic without the creator’s involvement.     Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: A terrorist attack on a joint police checkpost in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Tank district has resulted in the martyrdom of 15 people, including 14 security personnel, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The military’s media wing said the attack took place early Friday and was carried out by militants identified as Fitna-al-Khawarij, a term used by authorities for members of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). ISPR said the attackers attempted to breach the checkpost’s perimeter, but their efforts were swiftly stopped by security forces. The personnel deployed at the post responded with courage and professionalism, engaging the attackers and killing 15 militants. According to the statement, after the failed attempt to enter the checkpost, the attackers rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the perimeter wall. The powerful blast caused severe damage to the infrastructure and resulted in the martyrdom of 15 individuals, including 12 soldiers, two police officers, and a government official from the former forest department. A sanitisation operation is currently underway in the area to locate and eliminate any remaining terrorists. ISPR said security forces and law enforcement agencies will continue counterterrorism operations under the Azm-e-Istehkam strategy to eliminate terrorism from the country. The military’s media wing paid tribute to the sacrifices of security personnel, stating that their sacrifices strengthen Pakistan’s resolve to protect the nation. The attack comes amid increased militant activity in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Security forces have recently conducted operations in Bannu and surrounding areas, where several militants were killed during intelligence-based operations. Authorities say efforts are continuing to dismantle terrorist networks and prevent further attacks against security personnel and civilians.
