Heavy rainfall also forced the closure of several underpasses and roads in DHA and other parts of the city due to waterlogging, while traffic was diverted through alternative routes. Earlier, two teenage brothers lost their lives when their motorcycle skidded on a rain-soaked road near Lahore while traveling toward Kasur. Officials attributed the accident to slippery road conditions and urged motorists, particularly motorcyclists, to reduce speed, wear helmets, and avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rainfall. Meanwhile, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa recorded 22 deaths and 23 injuries in rain-related incidents. The victims included men, women, and several children. The province also suffered damage to 37 houses, with eight completely destroyed and the remaining partially damaged. The affected districts include Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Bajaur, Swabi, and several others. The K-P PDMA stated that rescue teams, district administrations, and emergency services are working together to provide relief and assistance to affected families. Although river water levels currently remain within normal limits, authorities have placed all districts on high alert due to forecasts of continued heavy rainfall. The Pakistan Meteorological Department has warned that another spell of widespread rain is expected across Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Kashmir over the next 24 hours. Officials fear urban flooding, flash floods in local streams, and landslides in hilly regions such as Murree and Galiyat. Local authorities in Gansu have warned residents to remain alert because unstable hillsides and saturated ground could trigger additional landslides, particularly around Dingxi and nearby districts. The government also plans to provide guidance to parents and caregivers on meeting the nutritional needs of children living with HIV. Health experts believe that proper nutrition plays a critical role in strengthening immunity and supporting the effectiveness of treatment. Medical experts said children infected with HIV require 10 to 20 percent more energy and protein than healthy children of the same age.     Dera Ismail Khan: Police in the City Circle arrested an alleged inter-provincial robber and his accomplice in an injured condition following an exchange of fire during a police operation. According to police, DSP City Syed Sagheer Gillani received information that an alleged inter-provincial robber was travelling with an accomplice from Peshawar to Punjab via Dera Ismail Khan. Acting on the tip-off, the DSP, along with a police contingent, set up a checkpoint at Sheikh Yousaf Chowk. Police said that when officers signalled a suspicious vehicle to stop, one of the occupants allegedly opened fire on DSP Gillani with a pistol instead of complying. Police returned fire, injuring both suspects. Their vehicle reportedly went out of control, veered off the road and crashed into a nearby wall. After the exchange of fire ended, police searched the vehicle and identified the injured suspects as Safdar Ali and his accomplice, Ahsan, son of Sajjad, a resident of Faisalabad. According to the police spokesperson, the two suspects were wanted by police in Punjab and Dera Ismail Khan in connection with 51 serious criminal cases, including murder, robbery, theft and illegal arms trafficking. Police further stated that the suspects were also wanted in robbery and theft cases registered at City, Town and Paharpur police stations in Dera Ismail Khan. The injured suspects were taken to hospital for medical treatment after the completion of legal formalities, while further investigation is underway. Meanwhile, District Police Officer (DPO) Dera Ismail Khan commended the police team for the successful operation, stating that indiscriminate action against criminal elements would continue and that every possible measure would be taken to maintain peace and security in the district.
