Actor Bilal Qureshi expressed empathy, writing simply: “I can feel the pain of this generation, here and there.” Rapper Talha Anjum addressed the protesters directly in an Instagram Story, telling them he had great respect for their resilience and understood their frustration, urging them to stay strong. From within India’s own entertainment industry, the response has been equally vocal. Salman Khan shared a childhood photograph of himself in a school uniform on Instagram, describing the protests as a peaceful movement for educational reform and expressing sadness at the violent turn some demonstrations had taken. He called the issue of paper leaks a very serious one and urged that the movement stay focused on education rather than be pulled into political territory. Alia Bhatt praised the students’ determination in a heartfelt post, describing them as the generation that will shape India’s future and calling their persistence both heartbreaking and hopeful in equal measure. Preity Zinta also voiced support for the students’ demands while cautioning that peaceful demonstrations should not be taken over by what she described as anti-national elements. She additionally called on the Indian government to begin meaningful dialogue with activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on an indefinite hunger strike since the protests began. Rakhi Sawant expressed support and questioned the treatment students had faced during the demonstrations. Other Bollywood names who had already lent their voices to the movement included Diljit Dosanjh, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Shabana Azmi, Pooja Bhatt, Arijit Singh, actor Imran Khan and Zeenat Aman. Not all celebrities have spoken out, and the silence of some has drawn its own kind of scrutiny. A fan page dedicated to Katrina Kaif reportedly shut down, citing disappointment over her decision not to comment on the protests, a reminder that on certain issues, staying quiet is itself read as a statement by an audience that is watching closely.

Transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney has responded after US President Donald Trump mentioned her several times during his speech at the rescheduled White House Correspondents’ Dinner, saying she was surprised to remain a topic of conversation years after her controversial Bud Light partnership. Mulvaney addressed the remarks in a TikTok video, where she congratulated CNN correspondent Kaitlan Collins before responding to Trump’s comments. The White House Correspondents’ Dinner, originally scheduled for April, was postponed after a gunman opened fire while the event was underway. During his speech on Friday, Trump congratulated CNN White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins on receiving a journalism award before joking about her success and comparing her to Mulvaney. Trump said, “I thought Kaitlan had really made it big with a major new sponsorship, but then I informed her that it wasn’t her on the Bud Light can, it was Dylan Mulvaney.” He went on to criticise Mulvaney’s 2023 promotional campaign with Bud Light, adding, “Dylan Mulvaney cost Bud Light $35 billion in market cap. That was the worst commercial ever made by the way, for those few people who want to hear that. Most people don’t care, but I would. I wouldn’t want to hire Dylan any time soon.” According to the report, Trump later shared an edited image on social media that placed Kaitlan Collins’ face onto Mulvaney’s body from the Bud Light advertisement, further extending the joke beyond the dinner. Pakistan’s first Miss Universe, Erica Robin, used Independence Day to highlight an urgent issue facing children across the country, urging parents to take stronger measures to protect them from sexual abuse. In a message shared on social media, Robin said that while Independence Day is a time to celebrate Pakistan, the occasion should also be used to speak about serious social problems. She said recent reports of violence and abuse involving children were deeply disturbing and required greater awareness among families. Robin offered parents three key suggestions for protecting their children. First, she urged parents not to assume that children are automatically safe with relatives or other people they know. She said families should remain aware of who has regular access to their children, regardless of whether the child is a boy or a girl. Her second recommendation was to teach children about personal boundaries. Robin said children should understand that their bodies belong to them and that they have the right to refuse unwanted physical contact. Parents, she stressed, should never force children to hug, kiss or show affection to another person if they are uncomfortable. Robin identified open communication as the most important step. She encouraged parents to create an environment where children can speak freely about anything that makes them uncomfortable or frightened. She also advised parents to pay attention to sudden changes in a child’s behaviour, particularly when the child appears uneasy around a particular person. The model urged parents to share these lessons with others and work collectively to create an environment where children feel safe, respected and heard. Her message comes amid continuing concerns over child abuse in Pakistan. More than 1,900 cases of child abuse were reported across the country during the first half of the year, according to data cited in the report. Several recent cases have intensified public concern. In Karachi, police arrested a 17-year-old relative after the father of a young girl reported that she had gone out with him to buy something and later returned unconscious after being sexually assaulted. Earlier, the deaths of two young girls in Karachi and Sargodha also sparked outrage. Police investigations into both cases involved allegations of sexual violence, while several suspects were detained in connection with the incidents.
