Woman killed, 70 injured in Karachi aerial firing

Pakistan is celebrating its 79th Independence Day with national spirit and enthusiasm. However, celebrations in Karachi turned tragic as aerial firing was reported in several parts of the city.

The firing began soon after midnight. Police had issued strict warnings against the use of firearms during Independence Day celebrations.

Despite the warnings, gunshots were heard from different areas of Karachi. Rescue authorities said that a woman was killed after being struck by a bullet fired from an unidentified direction.

At least 70 other people were injured in the incidents. The injured included women and children.

Rescue officials said the victims suffered injuries after stray bullets hit them during the aerial firing. Some people were also injured amid the rush and celebrations that followed midnight.

The injured were immediately shifted to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. They were taken to Jinnah Hospital, Civil Hospital and Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Medical teams received the injured and provided them with emergency treatment. The condition of the victims was not immediately clear.

Aerial firing is repeatedly reported during major celebrations in Karachi despite warnings from law enforcement authorities. Police have often urged citizens to avoid firing weapons into the air because bullets can travel long distances before falling and can seriously injure or kill people.

The latest incident has once again raised concerns about the enforcement of restrictions on aerial firing during public celebrations.

Authorities have urged citizens to celebrate Independence Day responsibly and avoid any activity that could put other people’s lives at risk.

The incident also highlights the dangers faced by families and children who take part in Independence Day celebrations in different parts of the city.

Amitabh Bachchan and Parveen Babi’s complicated bond revisited

Amitabh Bachchan and Parveen Babi were among the most popular on-screen pairs of their era. Their chemistry was widely appreciated, particularly in films such as Deewaar and Kaala Patthar. The two actors developed a friendship while working together, but their relationship later became surrounded by speculation and controversy. At the time, rumours circulated that Amitabh and Parveen were romantically involved, despite Amitabh being married to actress Jaya Bachchan. However, these claims were never established as fact. Reports suggested that Amitabh eventually distanced himself from Parveen, something she reportedly found difficult to accept. Parveen later made disturbing allegations against Amitabh in an interview with a magazine. She claimed that he was an international gangster who wanted to harm her and alleged that his associates had kidnapped her. She further claimed that she had been taken to an island, where she believed doctors performed surgery on her and placed a transmitter or electronic chip beneath her ear. Her allegations attracted considerable attention, but they were later understood in the context of her deteriorating mental health. Parveen had been diagnosed with schizophrenia, a serious mental health condition that can affect a person’s perception, thoughts and behaviour. Amitabh subsequently addressed her claims and explained that her illness had caused her to become extremely fearful of other people and experience delusions and hallucinations. Despite the painful circumstances surrounding their past, another emotional episode involving Parveen occurred years later when she unexpectedly encountered her former boyfriend, actor Kabir Bedi. The meeting took place at a hotel in 2004, approximately a year before Parveen’s death. Kabir later recalled the encounter during a conversation with Siddharth Kannan. According to his recollection, he approached Parveen and greeted her warmly. However, she responded with visible sadness and spoke about how people believed she was mentally unwell. Kabir tried to reassure her, but the conversation reportedly took an emotional turn. He remembered seeing a sudden change in her expression, reflecting the difficult state she appeared to be in at the time. The meeting left a lasting impression on him, particularly because he had known Parveen closely during their relationship years earlier. Parveen Babi’s life and career remain a complicated chapter in Bollywood history. She rose to extraordinary fame during the 1970s and became one of the industry’s most recognisable actresses. Yet, behind her glamorous public image, she struggled with serious mental health difficulties and increasing isolation. Her story has continued to generate discussion because of the contrast between her remarkable success as an actress and the personal struggles she experienced later in life. Her relationships with prominent actors, including Amitabh Bachchan and Kabir Bedi, have also remained subjects of public interest, although many claims surrounding her personal life were based on rumours and accounts that cannot always be independently verified.

Mandy Moore reveals if she wants to expand her fam…

Mandy Moore has officially answered the question of whether she and her husband, Taylor Goldsmith, plan to expand their family. The This Is Us star, 42, already shares three children with Goldsmith: sons August “Gus,” 5, and Oscar “Ozzie,” 3, and daughter Louise “Lou,” who is 23 months old. In a recent interview, Moore made it clear that their family of five is now complete. (Us) “We are absolutely done and so grateful for our family,” Moore said, explaining that she and Goldsmith are enjoying this stage of parenthood and trying to savor the small moments. Moore admitted that seeing pregnancy announcements on social media can still bring up complicated feelings. She joked that her Instagram feed now seems filled with pregnant people, which makes her realize that pregnancy will not be part of her future again. At the same time, she said she is simply too tired to imagine starting over with another baby. After having three children in three and a half years, Moore appears ready to embrace a new chapter rather than return to the newborn stage. For the actress, there is also something bittersweet about watching her youngest child, Lou, grow up. She recently reflected on reaching milestones that signal the end of the baby years, including moving away from diapers, bottles and a crib. Moore described the transition as exciting but emotional. Her family is entering what she called “uncharted territory,” as the children become more independent and develop their own personalities. (E! Online) The actress has also been candid about the physical and emotional impact of having three children so close together. Earlier this year, she shared an honest look at her postpartum body, acknowledging the changes that came after three pregnancies in just three and a half years. (People.com) Moore previously revealed that she had undergone an unsuccessful round of IVF before unexpectedly becoming pregnant naturally with Lou. She had considered IVF partly because she wanted the possibility of creating more space between pregnancies as she got older. (The Express Tribune) Now, however, Moore appears confident that she and Goldsmith have reached the right place for their family. Rather than focusing on having another baby, the actress is choosing to appreciate the children she already has. With Gus, Ozzie and Lou growing quickly, Moore is embracing the next stage of motherhood with gratitude. For Moore and Goldsmith, the baby chapter may be closing—but their family story is continuing to grow in new ways.

It is directed by Haseeb Hassan, who has built a strong reputation for handling ensemble productions with care and precision, and is produced by Six Sigma and Next Level Entertainment. The cast assembled for Rutba is a genuinely impressive one, bringing together Mehwish Hayat, Hiba Bukhari, Saif Ali Khan, Zahid Ahmed, Talha Chahour and others in what promises to be a story of considerable scope. Rain continues across Sindh

Intermittent rain continues to affect several parts of Sindh, including Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Tharparkar, Badin, Thatta and Sujawal, bringing relief from the heat but also causing water accumulation in low-lying areas. In Mirpurkhas, persistent rainfall has flooded several low-lying localities, with rainwater entering homes and creating difficulties for residents. Residents have faced electricity outages as efforts continue to address the technical issue and restore the supply. Weather conditions remain unsettled across southern and southeastern Sindh, where rain-bearing clouds continue to dominate the region. Further rainfall is possible in several areas as the weather system remains active. In Karachi, light rain and drizzle were reported in several parts of the city, including Quaidabad, Malir and Gulistan-e-Johar. The showers brought cooler conditions to some localities, while residents in other areas continued to experience cloudy and humid weather. Authorities and local administrations are monitoring the situation, particularly in low-lying areas where continued rainfall could lead to further water accumulation and temporary disruption to daily life.
