Samsung confirms these Galaxy phones will get Android 17 this year

Samsung users are always among the first to receive a new Android update. Well, after Google’s own Pixel smartphones, of course. In recent weeks, a number of devices have already received One UI 9 (Samsung’s custom version of Android 17).

However, the situation for the remaining Samsung models was unclear. The Galaxy A series, in particular, has been left out so far, even though it accounts for a huge proportion of Samsung users (although this apparently hasn’t stopped Samsung from planning to reduce production next year).

Now, an official statement from Samsung Japan has finally shed light on how the rollout of Android 17 will proceed. This was reported by website 9to5Google. According to the statement, a number of Samsung smartphones will receive the update by December at the latest.

Here is the full list of all models, which includes tablets as well as smartphones:

  • Galaxy S26/Plus/Ultra
  • Galaxy S25/Ultra
  • Galaxy S24/Ultra
  • Galaxy S24 FE
  • Galaxy S23/Ultra
  • Galaxy Z Fold 7
  • Galaxy Z Flip 7
  • Galaxy Z Fold 6
  • Galaxy Z Flip 6
  • Galaxy Z Fold 5
  • Galaxy Z Flip 5
  • Galaxy A57
  • Galaxy A55
  • Galaxy A54
  • Galaxy A36
  • Galaxy A25
  • Galaxy Tab S11/Ultra
  • Galaxy Tab S10/Plus/Ultra
  • Galaxy Tab S10 FE/Plus
  • Galaxy Tab S10 Lite
  • Galaxy Tab S9/Plus/Ultra
  • Galaxy Tab S9 FE/Plus
  • Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024)
  • Galaxy Tab A11
  • Galaxy Tab A11 Plus/5G
  • Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro

It’s striking that even here, a number of smartphones are still missing. However, the information released relates only to models that are sold in Japan. Bear in mind that some mid-range and entry-level models are released in Japan, but not all of them.

That means the list is incomplete when it comes to the European market. But at least it provides a rough guide to Samsung’s plans. Special editions such as the Galaxy S23 FE are not expected to receive One UI 9 or Android 17 until next year.

If you want to know which smartphones are eligible for Android 17 overall, we’ve rounded up the full list.

On top of models that will receive the update this year, and those expected to receive it in 2027, there are also some Samsung mobiles that will be excluded from the update cycle. Their software support will end with One UI 8.5, even though they will continue to receive security updates. You can find out in our dedicated article which models will miss out on the upgrade.
