Samsung’s Galaxy A58 cameras could look a little too familiar
The first major details concerning the Samsung Galaxy A58 have leaked online, and they’re not exactly filling us with enthusiasm.
Samsung’s next mid-range phone, and the follow-up to the Samsung Galaxy A57, has appeared on a Dutch website – specifically with reference to its camera capabilities.
GalaxyClub claims to have learned that the Galaxy A58 will pack a 50Mp main camera, a 12Mp ultra-wide, a 5Mp macro, and a 12MP front camera.
Sound familiar? Yes, that’s the exact same as the current A57, suggesting Samsung is making no changes to the hardware. But not all hope is lost yet.

Minimal upgrades could be paired with a price rise
The only saving grace for the Galaxy A58 is that GalaxyClub hasn’t revealed the specific sensors it’ll use. So there’s still a chance that some of them are bigger or otherwise better than before. However, it seems unlikely in the current climate.
As the report points out, though, this would mean the reuse of a pretty ancient camera system. That 5Mp macro camera – always the most useless of supplementary snappers – made its debut in the Samsung Galaxy A51 way back in 2020.
That’s all we know about the Galaxy A58 right now ahead of its likely spring launch. Our biggest question, other than the kind of upgrades we can expect, is whether Samsung will raise the price of its lead mid-ranger yet further.
The Galaxy A57 launched at £529/$549.99 in April (already hiked compared to the A56), before being increased to £599/$599.99 a few months later. There’s certainly no indication that the AI-driven memory component crisis is easing.
It’ll almost certainly remain cheap enough for us to consider it a mid-range phone (anything up to £700/$700 at launch qualifies), but it’s no longer the value proposition it once was.
