“I had to chime in as this brought back memories. My dad had one with factory 4 speed and (at least) front disc brakes. Can’t remember the rears. Factory silver with a vinyl roof. That 4 speed was a LONG throw so it took a while to get there. A lot of axle hop. I always thought it would make a great sleeper hotrod with a bit of engine & suspension work. I had no idea how rare the factory options were. Who knew?”

“Always loved these. I am the person responsible for that front cover photo of Hemmings Muscle Machines. I was the editor of that magazine at the time. That Mopar issue was a ton of work, but satisfying. Beautiful example of when Chrysler actually built cars. Today, just the Pacifica.”

“@volvoracer9 – That is an excellent question. The guy who created this went to great lengths to make it accurate. As far as I have found, everything is correct except the brakes/wheels/hubs. A true MC850 will have 4 bolt wheels and hubs with a different front brake caliper. I put on adjustable Spax shocks but the original Koni shocks come with it. Engine and head are correct for MC850 as is the entire interior including the rear seat which is basically cushions on top of a storage bin. Club…”

Yes, the engine produced 430 HP at 5200 RPM’s but Chevy failed to mention it produced
Over 550 HP at 6200 RPM’s
The “low” HP published at a time when insurance companies were taking a close look at high performance cars”

“Oil control system- As 928 engines evolved from 16V to 32V,and from 4.5 to 5.4 liters, two issues cropped up. First, the oil drainback channels through the block did not change in size, and second, between the high output of the oil pump and the sheer volume of the 32V heads, sustained high rpm could lead to the heads accumulating excess oil-up to 2.5 quarts per side, more than half the total engine oil fill.
