“I owned two 1976 Trans Ams back in the ’80s and ’90s: a 400 4spd and a 455 4spd. They are really special cars. I often notice TA owners leave the shaker hood scoops sealed, and I wonder why. It takes a few minutes to remove the plate and the intake noise completely changes the driving experience and adds some power. My friends would ask me to get on it just so they could hear the roar from the shaker scoop which sounded like it would suck in animals and small children if they were too close.…”

“The previous owner was a good friend of mine that has now gone to the garage in the sky. Seeing this brings up some great memories and I like to think he’s watching the auction from above. This was his final sale before he passed, he was pretty much in his last days during the auction. I was so pleased the auction went so well for him at the time. One final time at BAT and he hit it out of the park! Love ya an miss ya Joe!
And to the next owner of this amazing rig…congrats in advance,…”

“Long ago,(Y2Kish) my parents owned a small apt complex where a 85 year old lady was a long time tenant. She had a Fairlane almost identical to this, but a coupe, with an automatic. And she patronized a muffler shop with a sense of humor. I hope they didn’t charge her too much for making it sound almost exactly like a GT350. Braaaap!
The dog dish hubcaps found both here and on Mrs. Nitzkowski’s Fairlane reminded me of her Humane Society bumper sticker. “It’s OK if my dog is driving.…”

“I went through the police academy in one of these back in 1997. No Crown Vic could out run or out maneuver this car when we played cops and robbers on the obstacle course. It was hands down a superior car in terms of handling and horsepower. Every time I see one I’m taken back to the driving portion of the academy. Fond memories.”

“Love that area of Wisconsin. Two of my three nephews live in Madison now – gorgeous city. We visited often when I was a kid and Pop was into camping with the Starcraft. Made many a stop at Wisconsin Dells and remember it just as you describe! Sincere condolences on the passing of your mother (and untimely/early passage of your father). It reminded me this morning to cherish whatever time I have left with the Beehive. Have a blast with the Honda – another wonderful memory machine for me – and…”

“Nobody paid much attention when the old Dodge arrived.
A 1970 Dodge Polara Police Pursuit sedan painted in authentic black and white with a 440 Magnum under the hood wasn’t exactly subtle. Long, square-jawed, and purposeful, it looked ready to issue citations despite having been retired for decades. Still, at Fort Stockton’s annual Classic Car Roundup, it found itself parked between a candy-apple red Corvette and a turquoise Thunderbird convertible. Compared to chrome and tailfins, an old…”

I want to thank the team at BaT for bringing us so far. It is amazing to cross the quarter million auctions milestone together.
And a big thank you to the @1600veloce team for helping us mark the occasion with this beautiful 288. Anthony gets so much well-deserved credit, but it takes the whole team there to do the amazing things they do.

@bringatrailer Randy I want to thank you for all the support and the fun ideas we have bounced off each other all these years. This listing like any listing, can be a bumper for an MG to a Halo Ferrari. It all belongs here. The best site, the best community.

I still have my 35th anniversary 5 speed version, and it remains a pleasure to drive unlike most crude live axle domestics of the era.”
