Understanding the GTO Collection, from 1600Veloce
This flock of Goats comes from @1600veloce, who has gathered a tidy quintet of well-outfitted first- and second-generation Pontiacs for us. The two first-generation GTOs are offered with no reserve, a tastefully modified ’65 convertible and a ’67 hardtop in an interesting and unusual color scheme. The second-generation offerings are all four-speed Ram Air cars from 1970 that have been refurbished and will run as Premium auctions: an Orbit Orange Judge Ram Air III convertible, a white Judge Ram Air III coupe, and a black Judge Ram Air IV coupe acting as the capstone of the collection. Auctions will begin on Monday, May 18, and links to the respective listings will be added as they go live.

A preview of the cars included in the GTO Collection continues below. Be sure to follow @1600veloce to receive updates when new auctions post.
Tri-Power 435-Equipped 1965 Pontiac GTO Convertible 4-Speed

This first-generation convertible comes to us well-equipped with power steering and brakes, a power top, air conditioning, and some additional muscle in the form of a replacement 421ci V8 that has been enlarged to 435ci and further hopped up with a Tri-Power setup, Kauffman Racing cylinder heads, strengthened internals, and long-tube headers. Backing this up is a rebuilt Muncie M21 four-speed. The car came from the factory in Capri Gold and black vinyl, and the body and interior were refurbished around 2010. This will be a no-reserve auction.
1967 Pontiac GTO Hardtop Coupe

This was the last year for the stacked-light, GTO which had undergone substantial visual updates in its first generation. The Coke-bottle styling of this hardtop coupe stands out in Montego Cream with a pinstripe running down the beltline. Bucket seats are trimmed in gold vinyl, giving the car a bit of a Vatican vibe. PHS documentation confirms that it left the factory in this scheme, optioned with power steering, power brakes, a center console, a push-button radio, and air conditioning. Under the hood is a 400ci V8 mated to a three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic transmission. This GTO is also being offered at no reserve.
1970 Pontiac GTO Judge Ram Air III Convertible 4-Speed

The Ram Air III package gave a breath of fresh air to the second-gen GTO, while a 1970 restyling brought narrower grilles to the one-piece Endura nose. This car was delivered to Canada in Orbit Orange over saddle vinyl when new, and received a rotisserie refurbishment in 2007 at the hands of John Kane of Pontiac restoration specialists JJJ Enterprises in Pennsylvania. Muscle car goodies include a 400ci V8, a Muncie four-speed, and a Safe-T-Track differential as well as a hood tach, a Hurst shifter, Rally II wheels, and a rear spoiler. Factory equipment is listed on the 1970 customs invoice and the included Protect-O-Plate.
1970 Pontiac GTO Judge 400 Ram Air III 4-Speed

Here we have another Judge, this one purchased new in Pennsylvania in 1970. Pennsylvania is a state with arguably more than its fair share of barns, one of which is where this car ended up parked for many years. It was rescued and refurbished around 2009, and the process was documented in photos. It has recently been given the once-over by 1600veloce, and gleams in high-contrast white over black.
1970 Pontiac GTO Judge Ram Air IV 4-Speed

Pontiac’s Ram Air package was unlike the Rocky franchise in that they stopped where they should have—with IV. Ram Air IV, while only nominally more powerful than Ram Air III on paper, was an entirely different beast, with larger, round-port heads, a higher-flow aluminum intake manifold, and a high-lift “041” camshaft and accompanying heavy-duty valvetrain. These motors were rated at 370 horsepower by the factory, though the actual number is thought to be a good bit higher. Fittingly, many were raced in their day, and this car like many others was fitted with a factory replacement block at some point. It features the Judge package, a Muncie four-speed manual gearbox, and a Safe-T-Track differential. Other amenities include 14″ Rally II wheels, power steering, and power-assisted front disc brakes. A rotisserie restoration was performed in the late 2000s.
