“What an auction. This car was purchased by my grandfather from the AE collection years back, then sold to our neighbor when he passed. The family is excited to have it back!!!”

“When these were first introduced into the UK in late 1974 Porsche GB Ltd would not allow anyone to test drive one without first having been driven by and vetted by 11 time Le Mans competitor and race driver Nick Faure. Nick is known as Mr. Porsche and is a guru of the marque. (As an aside, Nick co-drove my March BMW M1 Group 5 race car in the 1980s and came in from practice laps ashen faced and pronounced it the scariest car he had ever driven). An interesting and entertaining drive report can…”

This project has certainly helped me as a 15T Blackhawk mechanic to pick up aviation terminolgy easier. I wouldn’t have had the start I did without your help. My projects started small LOL, but have gotten bigger over the years. If anyone has any remaining questions, feel free to ask. Happy to see this car go to a good owner, but I’m happy to drive it around to car shows and…”

“The Lexus LS430 was built at the moment when the pursuit of perfection and the economics of mass production briefly coincided. That window has closed; it may not open again in our lifetime. And so these cars matter—not for what they are worth in dollars, but for what they prove: that it was possible, that once, for six years in a factory in Tahara, Japan, human beings got as close to perfect as human beings have ever got in the building of a motorcar. And then they stopped, and we moved on……”

“Cars were built a la carte in those days. Note that the window sticker lists it as a “sold car,” meaning that it was ordered by the customer in advance, and built by the factory to his specifications. B-body Plymouths used completely different sheet metal and wheelbases between 2 door and 4 door models in those years, with these 2 doors having a very high style. The guy probably just wanted a stripper 2 door which was a common configuration in earlier years. I remember an older gentleman in our…”

This is the perfect opportunity for a higher volume dealership, museum, or someone looking to jump all in on this business with benchmark level equipment. I started out in the automotive field in the 1990s detailing cars. I learned very quickly that a cheap rotary polisher, shop vac or carpet extractor was just a…”

“This car always stuck out with ONE simple metric that I read back when it was being tested… 50mph to 75mph, it beat out the Testarossa and Porsche Carrera 4.
I think we know a hybrid RAV4 today could probably do this, but in period it blew my socks off to know this.
May this Swedish Testarossa be enjoyed for many more years. GLWTA”

“The Dark Toreador Red color on these always looked good. With the matching grill and the dual exhaust set itself apart from it’s Grand Marquis and Crown Vic parents. Matched with a few good options like the trunk organizer and heated seats this is a great example of a car that all of us would buy 10 times over given the chance to go back 20 years and walk into a new car dealership! “My favorite auction of the year.
My very first car was precisely this, but in tan and minus the Cragars. Served me well throughout college and for a cross-country drive to Southern California after college. Raced a Mazda RX-7 across approximately 100 miles of the desert Southwest, with my 10-speed bike strapped to the roof rack. I pulled away from him on the flat stretches and he caught and passed me in the mountain curves. Eventually my 440 needed gas and he didn’t. Good times.

“I had a new Pinto and within a year I found a deal on a proto turbocharger set-up from a well-known Detroit area tuner. It was comparatively crude to this one without an intercooler and lots of lag. But once it spooled up, it was pretty impressive. I recall keeping pace with a 340 Duster in 2nd and 3rd gear which had the other driver wondering “WTF?!” But the tubing to the intake was a long way from the relocated carburetor and in cold weather it was really hard to start because that long…”

As he fishtailed down the road, the four of us would slide around on that metal flooring – back and forth, back and forth smashing into each other and the sides. Laughing all the way!!!!!!!! Probably not the safest thing to do, but we survived. – GLWA”
