    “Where was I in ‘’62?
Shopping for my first new car ..In those golden years of American muscle cars my choices were daunting …Chevy 409/409, Ford 406/405, Pontiac 421/405, Dodge/Plymouth 413/420.
I ruled out the Mopars for their very quirky looks. Our family car was a ‘60 Bonneville convertible so I was leaning toward the Pontiac but my local dealer was reluctant to sell me what was considered an all out race car. After much haggling I ordered a 421/405 SD but it was late summer and…”

“What a nice old car, I love survivors – they are 10x harder to find than a restored example, and this one, in THE most desirable closed body style; a Club Sedan with the blind quarter panels, is fantastic ! As the owner of a very similar ‘36 Packard – also in original paint, pinstripe and plating, but a convertible coupe, I can certainly appreciate this one, and I love it with the black wall tires, tho I’d look for some one size larger. Was there ever a radio installed ? Doesn’t appear to…”

“I love brown cars, probs because my mom’s car when I was a kid was a 1970 Tobacco Brown MB 250 base model. No A/C, but it did have a sunroof. I learned how to drive in that car by driving it across the USA when we moved from Cleveland to Colorado Springs in 1977 on a learner’s permit. CB radio keeping contact with my dad in the 1970 Ford Country Squire pulling the Argosy 26′ travel trailer. Memories baby, that’s what cars are.”

“Hello BaT universe! I am the owner, craftsman, artist of this X-34 Landspeeder tribute vehicle. Since I couldn’t acquire the real one from that galaxy far, far away, (the import/transport fees would have been “astronomical”) I decided to build one to commemorate the upcoming 50th earthly anniversary of this iconic movie vehicle. I am looking forward to all the comments, questions, and bids.”

“When I scroll BaT, I’ve always held out hope I’d come across two cars: my dad’s ‘66 E Type, and this car. I sold this car to the current seller. Bought when I was 14, restored it, drove it through high school and into young married life. Sold it when I was broke with a growing family to support. Broke my heart to sell it, but clearly I sold to the right individual. Car looks absolutely amazing. I’ll start the bidding with the last sale price…”

Rod unfortunately is no longer with us but there is a lot more info on his legendary existence.
with that being said, i invite anyone who knew or knew of Harold Allen and or his talents to share any stats and stories with us and the same with Rod?

“I was building a large garage for a customer back in ‘87 or ‘88. I was just finishing up the lighting and up pulls an enclosed transport.
The driver opens the doors and proceeds to offload a brand new GNX and a Turbo TA.
They still sit in that garage to this day.”

“The 991 GT3T reigns supreme. Many folks say the 992 is superior. When you sit in a 992 you stare into the soulless abyss of darkened computer screens.
I don’t care how good a 911 is if it makes me feel like I’m at work staring at a computer screen!”

“I figured it was about time I got a GS – having grown up with DS’s starting in 1962 when my late father, the first industrial hygienist in the US, brought home, a 58 DS 19 – the early series which was as complicated as they could get. Funny thing was it was a trade-in at a Studebaker dealers shop in Salt Lake City Utah, the middle of nowhere back then. but dad, although a chemist, had a hankering for mechanical stuff and built large gasoline powered model airplanes when he was a kid.

The new owners will have both a show piece and an amazing coach. In the rv world these coaches in well preserved form are showstoppers.”

“Great to see such an excellent example of the car that reset the standard of what to expect from a small car. Not enough people understand how the Accord raised the bar for attractive design and basic equipment. The rustproofing material is most typical of any car sold in western Pennsylvania, where salt use and rust were commonplace… probably instrumental in keeping this car on the road and on your screen today. “I daily drove a very similar example for about a year and 13,000 miles – same year, 6 speed, RWD, ZSP, no nav.
I still think about it ALL the time. Out of the 20+ BMWs I’ve owned (including *four other E91s*, that one was one of my favorites and by far my favorite E91.
IMO, the miles aren’t that scary. Do the clutch/flywheel, but you shouldn’t have any other notable issues otherwise. A 3 stage manifold would be a nice add-on as well. This car is also pretty close to a stripper spec…”

“I had a ’68 for almost 20 years. I personally feel that the early SWB is the loveliest iteration of the 911, ever: cleanest lines, sublime, reductive design. 1968 has a bunch of “year-only” features that make it extra cool. Good luck to whoever wins this beauty and whatever you do afterwards, update this car to carrera chain tensioners immediately. It’s an easy upgrade and will save your engine when the original tensioners fail, which they definitely will. Awesome car!”
