“A 1952 220A Cabriolet was my daily driver in the early 1970s. When decades later I drove past a billboard depicting a painted one on Sunset Blvd, I did a u-turn to see what it was about. It advertised the Hiro Yamagata exhibit at Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery running from Sept 13 thru Oct 23, 1994. I was at the opening, chatted with Mr Yamagata, and marveled that I was seeing more 220As in one room than I had seen in my entire life.
I asked him why he chose this car to paint. He replied…”

“This is the car that convinced me just why fulvias were rally champions. Having known the owner for a while you can rest assured that this particular example was treated with both love and care.
Having had a chance to drive it down a curvy road or two, it’s mechanically perfect and just a hoot to drive as well.
The gorgeous color doesn’t hurt either.”

These photographs show RT3-468 during Phil’s ownership wearing its California Cooler livery and add another documented chapter to the car’s history and provenance. It has been a real pleasure reconnecting with Phil after all these years and…”

“A fun piece of history surfaced this morning thanks to Will at C&N Motor Cars, which operates out of the former Lamborghini of Ohio facility. Will worked there as a teenager and came across our auction, recognized the car, and sent us this photo of what he believes to be this very LP640 when it was new at Lamborghini of Ohio.
The history certainly lines up. As shown on the Carfax, Nelson Auto Group in Marysville, Ohio, was the original selling dealer, and was associated with Lamborghini…”

“I was a brand new California Highway Patrol officer in 1986, and one evening I was playing with our newly installed radar unit in my patrol car when I saw a pair of closely spaced headlamps coming up behind me on state Route 134 in the Eagle Rock area. We had all practiced estimating speeds, but the best estimate I could make was “way over 100 mph.” My radar lit up with a speed of 135 and dropping fast as the bike came up behind me. I threw the old Diplomat with the thundering 318 into…”

“Wow! If your drove this in 1966 you were a very successful owner-operator with great taste! That’s an extra long WB too meant for specialized loads. I watched the videos to see any sign of power steering so only Armstrong steering? My family was in the trucking business (in many aspects) and worked at a Kenworth store in NJ in the clean up bay. Much like old vs modern pickup trucks, they had evolved from bare bones working vehicles to modern, comfortable places to be. GLWTA #keepontruckin”

“Thanks P 38. I went to college driving a new R1 with air-conditioning. And automatic. I dated.my wife in a red Avanti. Married in 1965 and sold the Avanti get a car with a bench seat for our daughter’ s car seat. I have known where my original car is but have tried unsuccessfully for 30 years to buy it. When this car came along, I said what the heck. I’m excited to have a supercharged car and relieve some old memories. That is a lot of what the old car hobby is about.”

“I grew up in my family’s Pontiac dealership that opened in 1967. Crazy about high performance Firebirds & GTOs, especially the rare & special round port cars. From RAII in 1968 (356 cars), RAIV in 68 & 69 (1808 cars), 455 H.O. in 71 & 72 (5037 cars) and the last of the Mohicans, SD-455 in 73 & 74 (1296 cars). With over 4000 Pontiac dealerships back then most never acquired a single super duty during the two years of production. They were insanely hard to get. Our store…”

“Jimmy Don Ventura had owned enough unusual automobiles over the years to believe he understood the public. He’d driven a lime-green AMC Gremlin, a Triumph Spitfire that leaked oil with the determination of an East Texas mosquito, and a Plymouth Barracuda that had once stranded him in front of the Dairy Twin during the lunch rush. Every one of them had attracted comments, questions, and unsolicited mechanical advice from complete strangers.
