“This takes me right back to the ’90s. If you didn’t have a B16 or B18 swap, you wanted one. B16s, B18s, Frankenstein builds this is exactly what we were doing back then. Very cool.”
“These early GM hardtops (Buick and Oldsmobile also had this roofline on certain models in 1949) are both rare and a landmark design. Great proportions. Glad to see one on the market.”
A few of the comments that stood out to us yesterday:
“A 1952 220A Cabriolet was my daily driver in the early 1970s. When decades later I drove past a billboard depicting a painted one on Sunset Blvd, I did a u-turn to see what it was about. It advertised the Hiro Yamagata exhibit at Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery running from Sept 13 thru Oct 23, 1994. I was at the opening, chatted with Mr Yamagata, and marveled that I was seeing more 220As in one room than I had seen in my entire life.
I asked him why he chose this car to paint. He replied…”

“This is the car that convinced me just why fulvias were rally champions. Having known the owner for a while you can rest assured that this particular example was treated with both love and care.
Having had a chance to drive it down a curvy road or two, it’s mechanically perfect and just a hoot to drive as well.
The gorgeous color doesn’t hurt either.”

“Nice original car! Not too many still have T3 headlights that haven’t been restored to concours standards, so that says something about the originality.
Regarding the engine, from what I understand, very few 57s had 265s. The engine stamp would be good info to have. As a July built 283 4v, it should be something like T710FC (I had a Baltimore built 57 that predated this by about a week and it’s engine was T703F).”

“Sometimes I look on BaT and find a listing I was not expecting. First what a beautiful one off car. With an interesting history from the beginning factory special order. It has everything I want from a vintage sports car. GLWTA.”

“My son was racing our Datsun roadster in D Production one of the times Paul ran in the same class at Daytona. He wandered up to our crew working on our roadsturd. His crew had sent him to borrow a multimeter. He would just show up and pay the late regristration fees so everyones crew wouldn’t be packed with “crew” there just to catch a look at him as a star. I think he enjoyed just being one of us club racers. Very pleasant to talk to. He wasn’t in a hurry to get back to his crew who might have…”

A few of the comments that stood out to us yesterday:
“@hmondragon1 when these awesome Marauders were introduced I was working for Ford and had the pleasure of using one as a loaner from Ford Motor Company for a few weeks. It was an unbelievable car and I drove it all around Southern California and to Vegas and back. It felt like I was driving a hot rodded couch! Although I was looking for a new ride at the time, I ended out buying a 2003 Mach 1 which I also love to death.
My wife and I both love this car, but as we all have experienced, she said I…”

“I worked for AMC/Renault during development of this vehicle. Renault engineers would trailer them out to MIS (where I worked) and we would run top speed over and over and over after component and tuning changes. I don’t recall the top speed. I do remember that they would huddle around and discuss the current results and then ask us to make a change – then they would look at me and say, ‘encore, s’il vous plait”. It was a dirty job but someone had to do it.”

“Great spot on the 2022 gearbox oil typo.
Our technicians during that time and during 2023 and 2021 records are all former trained factory Lamborghini guys. You can look them up!
As you can see both Motul and Lucas gear oil was used in 2021 and 2023, so I am very confident this is a “ShopWare” typo.
Our software system in the shop was very clunky until recently.
The former owner was very fussy, this is one of the best 1996-1997 Diablo Roadster examples we have seen. The car was…”

“Gleaming Black shows off so well MG’s first “envelope body”. It’s often said that a black car is the hardest to do right and the toughest to keep clean, but when both are done to this level the result is quietly stunning.
This car looks to be Very Well done in every respect.”

“Fun looking D1.
Nice modifications, and it appears that the seller has had a lot of fun while keeping it in fine running shape. Though lots of miles, I bet that the next owner can get years more use if they stay on top of issues as they arise.
A five speed, a 300Tdi engine, and a first series Disco….what’s not to like?”
