“I did the rear disc conversion on this truck many years ago. It was done using front hubs (bolt right on) and RRC /DI rear rotors and calipers. I never liked the way Land Rover cheaped out on the factory rear Salisbury disc setup by using the narrow drive flanges with short splines that strip out easily and short spindles with narrow spaced bearings… That’s why I used to do it this way, retaining the far better wide drive flanges and longer axle spline engagement, with wet splines. “Wow! I watched the walk around video. Brings back memories from the Series 1 I bought new in 1970 just out of college, 08877. I recognized every little detail, like the seatbelt holder clips and engine wire wraps. The only thing missing is the smell of a new car, maybe that’s there too. Incredible. Unfortunately I sold mine a couple years ago on BAT. It has a good home and hopefully will be restored someday. This car should make it close to the all time highs for an auction.”

First, pay the bucks to get an expert diagnosis of the issues. The interior looks more than serviceable so just get it running right…not perfect, just safely drivable. You now have a great project (father and son?) that will constantly reward your efforts. Take your time going through the mechanical needs…then move on…”

“All of a sudden it’s 2003, I’m in my parents’ living room putting Need for Speed Underground into my Gamecube. I’ve got a Focus with green underglow and nitrous. It’s built to dominate the circuit races, but I need a better car for drifting. My dad helps me with some of the tougher races – we’re gonna watch some Monster Garage after we get a few races in.
Shoot… I might just go into my own living room now and pop the game into the Gamecube. For old time’s sake.”
