“Wow! I watched the walk around video. Brings back memories from the Series 1 I bought new in 1970 just out of college, 08877. I recognized every little detail, like the seatbelt holder clips and engine wire wraps. The only thing missing is the smell of a new car, maybe that’s there too. Incredible. Unfortunately I sold mine a couple years ago on BAT. It has a good home and hopefully will be restored someday. This car should make it close to the all time highs for an auction.”

I met Fred at Bonneville in 1963. He had set a 2-way record the previous year at 99.06 mph with his absolutely stock Corvair Monza. I had managed to go 107 mph with my stock 61 Corvair but needed bigger tires. Fred told me that Rambler Station Wagons had 15″ wheels that would fit Corvairs.
