    We’re back to announce the winner for our Question of the Week, where our winner will rest on their laurels and accept a $25 credit for a hat or T-shirt from the BaT Gear Store.

    This week, we asked: What was the most ‘70s paint color of the 1970s?

    Thanks to everyone who participated! We took out our 64-color set out of Crayola Crayons and immediately went to working reviewing your answers. Varying shades of greens, browns, and golds were popular this week, but one particular color was the most-mentioned by name: Plum Crazy Purple! BaT member @Trusted_One was the first to nominate it:

    “Well, being totally colorblind (my dates thought I just had no taste in fashion!) I’m probably not the one to comment on this. But I do remember being able to see the.Plum Crazy Dodge Challenger R/T and having to put on my Ray-Ban sunglasses to tone down the pain to my eyes!”

    A Look at the LeVett Collection, from Mohr Imports

    Our friends at Mohr Imports are proud to present the LeVett Collection, a group of 15 cars assembled over six decades that reflect the tastes of the late Dennis “Denny” LeVett, an entrepreneur, investor, hotelier, and dedicated automotive enthusiast perhaps best known on the Monterey Peninsula for partnering with entertainer Doris Day to preserve the Cypress Inn, a hub for artists, actors, and enthusiasts in Carmel-by-the-Sea. LeVett was a fixture at Monterey Car Week and deeply involved in Concours for a Cause. And many of his collection of red, Italian-leaning automobiles were regularly exercised up and down 17-Mile Drive on their way to more casual events over the years.

    This Success Story comes to us from BaT member rublem, who won a 1971 Porsche 911S Targa from ECI in a November 2025 BaT auction:
    When I got the follow-up email from BaT, they weren’t the only ones to ask, “How’s ownership going?” Most people I discussed my 911S Targa with have asked me this same question, and they have been surprised to realize that I bought the car in an internet auction, sight unseen. I’ve owned a very nice ’64 Porsche 356SC coupe for a couple of years now, and with that purchase, I laid eyes on it first.

    “My first awesome car! Bought slightly used in 1993, it was the dark grey color, almost black, and I put a 1″ drop on it with 16″ Momo 5 spoke wheels. Had a killer sound system in it and absolutely loved that car. Had it stolen in Seattle and recovered a few weeks later pretty much stripped out. Just didn’t feel the same anymore so sold it for what I could and moved on to a Toyota truck. Have owned damn near every Honda since then — Odyssey, Ridgeline, Accord and 2 generations of Civic…”

    Later in the early 1960s when I worked in the Cadillac parts warehouse on Riopelle and we were surprised by the volume of spring replacement spring kits we were selling for this car.
