“Even after more than 50 years, this is really all the car a person needs, for just daily driving, as well as the more spirited moments when we enjoy the wonderful invention that the automobile is. The color combination could not be better. The mechanicals are so pure and honest. The condition is fantastic. A true example of the automobile’s gold age, just before the heavy hands of polticians began to mess everything up. GLWTA.”

“My late friend Joe Sheppard competed against Fangio at Sebring in 57. Joe was driving a Lotus Eleven and won the under 1500 cc class. His co-driver was Lotus founder Colin Chapman. Joe said you could feel the 450S coming up to pass long before you could see it. I hope you have great success with your auction.”

“2005 was a big year for modern Mopar when the Daimler merger enabled the Hemi truck engine swap into a previous generation Mercedes RWD chassis. The Magnum was so unexpected in the industry it was classified as an SUV. I stalked my local dealers in order to take out the first 300C Hemi in town for an extended test drive. I don’t think anyone anticipated the decades of twists and turns in front of the basic package that surprisingly (to me) continued with strong sales to the point it busted…”

“As a young couple we had a 1964 122sw from Massachusetts was which perfect given my tip income as a student & bartender. We ran it until the 225,000 mile mark and sold it for more than we paid for it. This restoration corrects for all of my Volvos obsolescence or weaknesses; larger engine; better fuel delivery; rust remediation, nice interior and respectable paint job. This one is a keeper! Thanks for posting.”

“What a lovely, and well driven example! Tasteful mods, and miles and miles of future enjoyment for the next lucky owner. I’ve owned my 97 C4S for 15 years, she just rolled 135k, up from 63k at acquisition. These cars are just such an experience, just so immensely satisfying to drive…and to own.

“I’m the previous owner of this rig. We used it primarily as a rolling billboard for our RV Campground… had our logo on the side. Really drew attention. I can tell you it really drove better than I expected, several hundred miles freeway and highway with no issues. I did add LT tires on the back as well as the booster shocks to help with rocking/swaying. It’s much lighter than it looks, when i bought it three of us picked it up by hand and loaded it on a trailer.”

“Clearly this was an emotional purchase. This is SAAB Number 19 for me, started with 3 cylinder 2 cycles, a pile of 99’s including a 78 Turbo, and then on to the 900s. My wife converted from GM to SAAB with an 83 Turbo before we were married then a 87 Turbo that we brought both daughters home from the hospital in. Daughters still driving 9-3’s we bought them in high school.
My wife really really wanted this car, so as a good husband I had to get it done.”

“On vacation in Europe with my parents in 1965 we were in traffic next to a Ferrari similar to this. Have a vague recollection of the paler blue metallic, a far stronger impression as the traffic cleared was the howl as it disappeared down the road.
My father didn’t give chase in our Austin 1100.”

Yes, the engine produced 430 HP at 5200 RPM’s but Chevy failed to mention it produced
Over 550 HP at 6200 RPM’s
The “low” HP published at a time when insurance companies were taking a close look at high performance cars”

“Oil control system- As 928 engines evolved from 16V to 32V,and from 4.5 to 5.4 liters, two issues cropped up. First, the oil drainback channels through the block did not change in size, and second, between the high output of the oil pump and the sheer volume of the 32V heads, sustained high rpm could lead to the heads accumulating excess oil-up to 2.5 quarts per side, more than half the total engine oil fill. This A) limited the amount of oil near the pickup, and B) interfered with…”

“The Shelby Shadows are the one Whittier issue I never owned. But I did have a Shadow ES 4dr with the VNT Turbo lV which is even more rare. The variable nozzle turbo was magic, with low RPM response and torque to match the top end. It was also brave of Garrett to put a dynamic turbo housing into a production car with the vicious heat cycle. Mine grenaded when fortunately I was able to find a complete new one off the shelf.
