“Wow! Owner of touring #9 here. Hope to see a second B8 4.6 touring come to the US! If the new owner is US based, please find me. Happy to connect and provide steer on how to maintain this thing in the US. I just refreshed the hydraulic system on my car after getting it back from the BMWCCA Foundation museum.
The unique thing about the Alpina B8 touring is it’s the only e36 touring chassis that got the m3 rear subframe reinforcements welded in as well.”

“This is SW, this car belonged to me for quite a while. I purchased it as a 4 speed A/C car. It was extremely nice, straight with a beautiful undercarriage, which was the main reason I bought it. The Paint was nice but I am very picky so we disassembled it and had it blocked and resprayed. It drove amazingly well. After a few years I sold it to a friend so I wouldn’t take it apart and make it a restomod like all my others. He had a 5speed installed, drove it some but since he owns over 75 other…”

“The Dark Toreador Red color on these always looked good. With the matching grill and the dual exhaust set itself apart from it’s Grand Marquis and Crown Vic parents. Matched with a few good options like the trunk organizer and heated seats this is a great example of a car that all of us would buy 10 times over given the chance to go back 20 years and walk into a new car dealership! GLWTA”

“My favorite auction of the year.
My very first car was precisely this, but in tan and minus the Cragars. Served me well throughout college and for a cross-country drive to Southern California after college. Raced a Mazda RX-7 across approximately 100 miles of the desert Southwest, with my 10-speed bike strapped to the roof rack. I pulled away from him on the flat stretches and he caught and passed me in the mountain curves. Eventually my 440 needed gas and he didn’t. Good times.

  • Understanding sludgo’s Mile Markers: Mile 217

This is Part 2 of two-part series. Click this link to read Part 1.
The Über had just dropped me off at the McBungalow when my phone rang. Saw that it was Klaus so I picked up. Let myself into the house while he grimly gave me the bad news. As suspected, the code the TT had thrown translated to something serious. Evidently Bank 1 had reported itself rich at idle and upon inspection Klaus had discovered the strong odor of fuel in the crankcase, a sure sign of a failing mechanical fuel pump. So I’d need a new one installed toot-sweet and unfortunately that job wouldn’t be cheap. Said he couldn’t get to it right away so I had a couple days to think about what I wanted to see happen, then he cleared his throat. Coldly reminded me we were talking about a fourteen-year-old Audi with over one-hundred thirty thousand ticks on the clock that wasn’t worth throwing a lot of money at anymore. Told me that, with respect, if it were him he’d sell it as is and find a newer replacement. Something with lower miles. Something maybe still under warranty. Okey-doke, Klaus. I’ll think about it. Click.

“The first time anybody noticed the Pontiac Grand Safari outside Grounds for Divorce Cafe, most assumed it belonged to tourists who’d made a navigational error serious enough to involve prayer.
The wagon sat crooked beneath the diner sign like a grounded cruise ship from the Nixon Administration. Mesa Tan paint. Fake woodgrain peeling near the tailgate. Chrome roof rack big enough to carry sheet metal or emotional baggage. The thing looked less parked than abandoned by history.
