“Nobody in Fort Stockton ever knew exactly where Harold and Eleanor Whitcomb were headed when they left, and after a while they stopped asking. It had become as dependable as church bells and the Dairy Twin closing at nine. Every Sunday, sometime after lunch, the old Mercury wagon would ease out of their driveway with a picnic basket tucked behind the front seat and Harold’s weathered county highway map folded neatly beside him. They never seemed to have a destination. Yet when they returned,…”

“I drove a 2012 manual Fit for three years before I lost it in a flood trying to cross an underpass. They float extremely well by the way.
It was SO much fun to drive. It fit two bikes in the back with the seats up. Storage was best. I’ve not had a similar size car since that was as enjoyable. The Fiesta ST is a close second but the FIT had better (less) torque steer when burning the tires in the wet. It would get rubber past 2nd gear on moist roads.
    Indestructible….unless you drive it…”

“Beautiful car. I started at Cadillac in 1957 and the finished Broughams were moved to the executive garage for final inspection and cleanup. I had a small part of that process.
Later in the early 1960s when I worked in the Cadillac parts warehouse on Riopelle and we were surprised by the volume of spring replacement spring kits we were selling for this car. I recall we sold more replacement kits than the number of Broughams built. In many cases Cadillac replaced the air bags with springs…”

I got it from the original owner’s family, and am technically the 4th caretaker. Since I also specialize in Fiats, I have serviced it mostly from new.
We take it on club tours, and it’s comfortable at an indicated 70+ mph. In 2024 we won worst in class at the concours d’lemons in Seaside California, and last year we…”

His crew had sent him to borrow a multimeter. He would just show up and pay the late regristration fees so everyones crew wouldn’t be packed with “crew” there just to catch a look at him as a star. I think he enjoyed just being one of us club racers. Very pleasant to talk to. He wasn’t in a hurry to get back to his crew who might have…”

Everything runs smoothly, looks sharp, and feels road-ready without a worry. If you’re looking for a motorhome that’s been treated with pride and attention to detail, this one is a rare find. Took my son to 1st day of kindergarten and also helped him move into college his freshman year. 3 trips to Disneyworld, trips to Toronto, NYC, Pittsburgh, several to Indiana etc. Was a great riding van, large gas tank, decent milage. Made it from Disney to south of Raleigh on 1 tank. Our SES was the “sport ” version, this is the top of the line. We had some electrical issues…”

Sure, they sip more fuel than their diesel sisters, but the buy in price and cheapness of maintenance and repairs make it much less of an issue. I sold mine 5 years ago and have regretted it ever since. It towed a 12k 5er all over the west, no problem. Uggh!”
