“My Dad had a ‘61 in this color and with roof rack. VW advertised they would float. I was 15 and a friend and I tried to drive it in a local reservoir that was just being impounded. It did float but wouldn’t steer and bogged down due to back pressure. Crawled out window and pushed it back to shore. Cranked it watching pea shooters squirt water. It cranked up. We drove it until the floorboards were dry. Did not tell Dad until 10 years later. He couldn’t kill me then, I had kids of my own”

“Styling of this era Accord still looks fresh to my eyes. If it ends up on display at a Honda dealer showroom, will it make customers think, “God, new cars sure are ugly now.” But then again, I may be biased. My daily drivers are 35-year old Hondas.”

Midway through the loop, which was about thirty miles on various roads, we merged onto a local interstate at about 90 mph. “I own both a Ghibli and a Daytona and although I really like the Daytona the Ghibli is my go to car for long drives or if I anticipate stop and go traffic. Both cars have beautiful lines. The Ghibli is more reliable and more user friendly. The steering wheel can be adjusted up/down and the seat back is adjustable. No such luck on the Daytona. This car has power steering while the Daytona feels like a truck at slow speed.
