“Ah, the memories! This was my first-ever brand new car, purchased in Petersburg, Virginia when this fresh Army Quartermaster second lieutenant received a small fortune (It seemed so at the time) from the Army in TDY pay and turned it into Kenosha metal. Mine had the 343 not the 390, but was exactly this color, same transmission, and the brown leather which was original to this car, too. The car accompanied me to my first–and only–duty station in West Germany because officers’ car-shipping was…”

“This is my car. I have had every generation of 911, air cooled and water cooled, turbo and NA, all of which are in various states of “hot rod”. Even my CGT has some mods. I bought this car to hot rod as well, but it was so mint that I couldn’t do it, it is truly flawless inside and out. However, my OCD got the best of me and I invested whatever was needed to make the car perfect and decided to let it go as an offering to the BAT community. @hoarsche enjoy!”

“Wow !! Brings back wonderful memories as I learned how to drive on my Dad’s ‘60 Bonneville convertible ..He was a “car guy”having several Chrysler letter cars before I talked him into the Bonneville. Our neighbor had a ‘59 Bonneville convertible and he took me for a ride on a warm summer night with the top down …When he hit the gas and I heard that VROOOM of the carbs opening I was smitten !!
He told my Dad to make sure he ordered the Tri/Power option to match the power of his…”

“Many years ago i used to take quite a few road trips and generally would find any excuse i could make up just to do so . There was always a destination , but the journey was the reason , just a love of being on the open road and feeling young and unencumbered . I always used to have my “Road Trip” tape which i had previously recorded and was quite long and had a wide variety of music to listen to on the road but the same song , first up on the tape , “Vehicle” by The Ides of March always…”

Baja California and back to Sacramento in a slant six Dart? That is an absolute adventure and proof positive that these cars were built for exactly that kind of journey. No drama, no breakdowns, just mile after mile of honest reliable transportation through some pretty unforgiving terrain. That slant six was one of the toughest engines ever bolted into an American car and your story is a perfect reminder of that.
Thank you for sharing that memory and for the kind words. That is…”

His crew had sent him to borrow a multimeter. He would just show up and pay the late regristration fees so everyones crew wouldn’t be packed with “crew” there just to catch a look at him as a star. I think he enjoyed just being one of us club racers. Very pleasant to talk to. He wasn’t in a hurry to get back to his crew who might have…”

“Long ago,(Y2Kish) my parents owned a small apt complex where a 85 year old lady was a long time tenant. She had a Fairlane almost identical to this, but a coupe, with an automatic. And she patronized a muffler shop with a sense of humor. I hope they didn’t charge her too much for making it sound almost exactly like a GT350. Braaaap!
The dog dish hubcaps found both here and on Mrs. Nitzkowski’s Fairlane reminded me of her Humane Society bumper sticker. “It’s OK if my dog is driving.…”

“I’m the previous owner that purchased this off of BAT earlier this year. I’ve owned a lot of cars and this car is one of the best. It will not disappoint! The only reason it left my collection is because I traded several vehicles to Parin on a larger purchase. I loved the car bc it reminded me of the older Ferraris and Lamborghinis without the mechanical headache and all the creature comforts of a modern car. Nothing to pick on this one. You are absolutely right, this is the BMW powered version with the additional gear setup to align engine and gearbox. Early cars had the straight-cut gears and the later cars the helical gears, this Guarà Spyder fitted with the latter as you can softly hear in the driving video.…”
