Immigration office closures during Songkran announced
Immigration office closures during Songkran and other April public holidays are set to affect Hua Hin, Cha-am and the rest of Thailand, with foreigners being advised to plan ahead for visa extensions, 90-day reporting and other services.
Officials said immigration offices nationwide will close from:
- 4 to 6 April 2026 for Chakri Memorial Day and the substitution holiday
- and again from 11 to 15 April 2026 for the Songkran festival.
The closures mean anyone with deadlines falling around those dates is being encouraged to deal with immigration matters early rather than leaving them until the last minute.
With Songkran one of the busiest travel periods of the year, immigration offices are also likely to see heavier demand before and after the holiday, increasing the chance of delays and long queues.
April holiday closures and what residents should know
The April closures are not limited to immigration offices.
District offices, the Department of Land Transport and most bank branches are also due to observe the public holidays. However, some bank branches located inside shopping malls are expected to remain open.
Thailand Post branches in shopping centres are also expected to continue operating as usual.
Royal Thai Police and Tourist Police stations will remain in operation throughout the holiday period.
For foreigners living in or visiting Hua Hin and Cha-am, the main advice is to check any upcoming deadlines carefully and make arrangements in advance, particularly for services that cannot be delayed.
