The tension between the two rappers has been developing for years. The decision is reportedly based on California’s so-called “slayer statute.” Such laws are designed to prevent an individual from financially benefiting from the death of someone they are accused of intentionally killing. The statute can restrict a person’s ability to inherit or receive assets connected to the alleged victim. Reiner’s trust was established by his parents after his birth in 1993 and is now valued at more than $1.5 million. In a court filing, Reiner claimed that he was expected to receive half of the trust once he reached the age of 30. However, he said that the money had never been transferred to him. He is now seeking access to the funds, arguing that they are needed to pay his attorneys and support himself while incarcerated. His request reportedly includes money for his commissary account, which he said would allow him to purchase everyday necessities such as socks and personal hygiene products. The dispute over the trust comes shortly after prosecutors secured an indictment against Reiner in the deaths of his parents. On Wednesday, August 12, a Los Angeles grand jury reportedly indicted him on two counts of first-degree murder. The charges relate to the deaths of Rob and Michelle Reiner. Prosecutors presented evidence to the grand jury, which ultimately determined that there was sufficient evidence for the case to proceed toward trial. The indictment also reportedly includes a special circumstance allegation of “lying in wait.” Prosecutors allege that Reiner deliberately waited for his parents before attacking them when they were vulnerable or unaware. The additional allegation could significantly increase the potential consequences if Reiner is ultimately convicted. Depending on how the case proceeds and the applicable sentencing rules, a conviction involving such circumstances could expose him to extremely severe punishment, including life imprisonment without parole or potentially the death penalty. For now, Reiner remains entitled to the presumption of innocence, and the allegations against him have yet to be proven in court.     Salman Raja demands Imran’s medical access

    ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Salman Akram Raja has called for meetings between the party’s founder, Imran Khan, and his sisters and medical team. Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Raja said PTI representatives had met the Registrar of the Supreme Court. During the meeting, they requested that the cases involving the party founder be taken up for hearing without further delay. The PTI leader also demanded that Imran Khan be allowed to meet his sisters. He said access to his doctors should also be restored so that his health can be properly monitored. Raja said the party had been assured that the pending cases would be scheduled for hearing next week. He added that the relevant cause list would also be issued. He expressed concern over the long gap between Imran Khan and his doctors. According to Raja, the PTI founder has not been able to meet his medical team for around one and a half years. Raja questioned the reason for preventing regular medical consultations. He said the issue was particularly important because of concerns about Imran Khan’s health. The PTI leader also discussed the former prime minister’s political activities. He said Imran Khan had the right to express his political views. However, Raja said the party was prepared to ensure that political discussions did not take place if they could affect Imran Khan’s health. He said the priority at present was his medical well-being and access to proper healthcare. Raja said the matter would be taken before the court next week. He indicated that the party would seek judicial intervention on meetings with family members and doctors. The PTI has repeatedly raised concerns over access to Imran Khan and his medical care. The latest demand comes as the party awaits hearings in several cases involving its founder.

    Electricity tariff may rise by Rs1.34 per unit under quarterly adjustment

    ISLAMABAD: Electricity consumers may face higher power bills for the next three months as the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) considers a proposal seeking to recover an additional financial burden from consumers through the quarterly tariff adjustment mechanism. Nepra has reserved its decision on a request submitted by electricity distribution companies seeking to pass on around Rs34 billion in additional costs to consumers. According to sources, the proposed adjustment could increase the electricity tariff by approximately Rs1.34 per unit each month for three months. If approved, the additional charge would be reflected in consumers’ electricity bills during the applicable period. The quarterly tariff adjustment is used to account for changes in various costs incurred by power distribution companies, including fluctuations in generation and other sector-related expenses. The adjustment is subsequently passed on to consumers after regulatory scrutiny. Sources said Nepra has not yet issued its final decision on the request. The regulator will examine the financial details and relevant data submitted by the distribution companies before determining whether the proposed increase should be approved in full, partially accepted or rejected. The final decision is expected to clarify the exact amount to be recovered from consumers and the period over which the additional charges will apply. Until Nepra announces its decision, the proposed Rs1.34 per-unit increase remains under consideration and should not be treated as a final tariff hike.

    Pakistan has renewed its commitment to strengthening relations with Belarus and Central Asian countries. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held separate meetings with the foreign ministers of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan. The meetings were held on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers meeting.The discussions focused on bilateral relations, trade, investment, regional connectivity and security. Dar met Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov and reviewed the progress of relations between the two countries.The two sides agreed to expand cooperation in several important areas. These include trade, investment, defence, agriculture, technology and workforce exchanges.They also discussed ways to strengthen economic ties and increase bilateral business activity. Pakistan and Belarus are also preparing for the next session of their Joint Ministerial Commission.The ninth session is scheduled to take place in Islamabad on August 11 and 12, 2026. The two countries are expected to use the meeting to explore new areas of cooperation.Dar and Ryzhenkov also discussed regional developments. The Belarusian foreign minister appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to support dialogue and promote peace and stability in the region. Dar also met Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev.The two ministers reviewed the positive progress in relations between Pakistan and Kazakhstan. They agreed to accelerate the implementation of agreements reached during recent high-level exchanges.A key focus was the implementation of 37 memorandums of understanding signed during a high-level visit. The two countries also agreed to increase cooperation in trade, investment, transport, energy and regional connectivity. People-to-people contacts and cooperation at international forums were also discussed.Kosherbayev appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to support regional peace and diplomacy. He also invited Dar to visit Kazakhstan.The Pakistani foreign minister accepted the invitation and said the visit would take place at a mutually convenient time. In another meeting, Dar held talks with Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin.Both sides described Pakistan-Tajikistan relations as close and longstanding. They agreed to further expand cooperation in several sectors.These include trade, investment, energy, connectivity and culture. The two ministers also highlighted the importance of stronger people-to-people contacts.They agreed that regular high-level exchanges could help deepen bilateral relations. The two sides also discussed regional and global developments.They stressed the importance of cooperation through international and multilateral platforms. Tajikistan also expressed support for Pakistan’s efforts to promote peace and the peaceful resolution of regional issues.Dar also met Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov. The two ministers reaffirmed the importance of the Pakistan-Uzbekistan strategic partnership. They reviewed progress in bilateral cooperation.Trade, investment, connectivity, energy, culture and people-to-people relations were among the key areas discussed. Dar and Saidov also stressed the importance of stronger links between the business communities of both countries. They said closer business engagement could help increase trade and investment.The two ministers also discussed the implementation of understandings reached during Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s recent visit to Pakistan. They agreed that existing agreements should be converted into practical projects through timely implementation. Dar’s meetings took place during his visit to Kyrgyzstan for the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers meeting. Islamabad also reaffirmed its readiness to assume the SCO chairmanship for 2026–27.Pakistan has expressed its intention to promote greater cooperation among member states.     Search operation resumes for seven missing Broad Peak climbers

    GILGIT: Search and rescue teams resumed their operation on Saturday morning to locate seven climbers who remain missing after a deadly avalanche struck Broad Peak earlier this week. The mission restarted after weather conditions improved, allowing rescuers to return to one of the world’s most challenging mountain environments. The rescue operation had been suspended late Friday because of heavy snowfall, poor visibility and the continuing risk of avalanches. Officials said improving weather conditions enabled both ground and air teams to resume the search. The avalanche occurred on Thursday while a 10-member international expedition was climbing Broad Peak, an 8,047-metre mountain in Pakistan’s Karakoram range. According to regional authorities, the climbers were ascending at an altitude of around 6,600 metres when they were caught in the massive avalanche. Three climbers were confirmed dead after their bodies were recovered on Friday. The deceased were identified as Omani climber Nadhira Ahmed Abdullah Al Harthy, Nepali mountaineer Pur Bahadur Gurung and American climber Mallory Geis. Their bodies were later airlifted to Skardu. Seven climbers are still missing. They include internationally renowned Nepali mountaineer Nirmal Purja, fellow Nepali climbers Kili Pemba Sherpa, Nima Sherpa, Nawang Thindu Sherpa and Gyalu Sherpa, Pakistani climber Sohail Sakhi and Chinese climber Wang Zhong. According to the local administration, a three-member civilian rescue team led by renowned Pakistani mountaineer Sarbaz Khan resumed the ground search on Saturday morning. Experienced Nepali climbers already stationed at the Broad Peak base camp also joined the rescue effort to assist in locating the missing mountaineers. Pakistan Army helicopters have also been deployed to support the operation. Rescue officials said helicopters are assisting with aerial surveillance, transporting rescue personnel and assessing areas that remain inaccessible by foot. Officials from the Alpine Club of Pakistan said the search operation remains extremely difficult because of steep mountain slopes, unstable snow, harsh weather and the constant threat of further avalanches. These conditions continue to slow rescue efforts and increase risks for search teams. Rescuers have also been using drone technology to scan the mountain. During the operation, drone footage reportedly identified signs of additional climbers at an altitude of around 6,000 metres. Ground teams are attempting to reach the location despite dangerous terrain and difficult weather conditions. The international rescue effort has also received support from renowned Nepali climber Mingma David Sherpa, who travelled to Pakistan to assist in the search for Nirmal Purja and the other missing climbers. Authorities said the expedition team was last in contact on Thursday morning before communication was lost. Data from the climbers’ tracking devices later suggested that several members of the team had been swept hundreds of metres down the mountainside by the avalanche.
