Mir Raza’s exhumation set for Saturday

The exhumation of Karachi youth Mir Raza will be conducted on Saturday to determine the cause of his death after authorities reinstated the previous medical board for his second post-mortem examination.

Police and other relevant authorities have been directed to make arrangements for the exhumation. The post-mortem is scheduled to begin at 11am on Saturday.

The medical board, which had earlier been reduced to five members, has now been restored to its previous eight-member composition.

According to the notification, Dr Samia Syed will serve as the board’s convener. Dow University Professor Dr Naseem Ahmed will perform duties as a pathologist, while Dr Farah Wasim has been included as a forensic expert.

CPLC officer Amir Hassan Khan will serve as a forensic identification expert. Dr Kamran, Dr Sri Chand and Dr Daniyal Mirza will also continue as members of the board.

The decision came after Mir Raza’s father, Mir Hussain, expressed serious reservations over changes to the medical board. The exhumation had initially been scheduled for Friday but was postponed following the dispute over the board’s composition.

Mir Hussain had said he would not allow the exhumation until the previous medical board was restored.

His lawyer, Jibran Nasir, also rejected the newly formed board and sent notices to the police and health secretary. He alleged that political interference was affecting the case.

Nasir demanded that the exhumation and post-mortem be conducted by the same eight-member board that had originally been constituted by the Karachi police surgeon on court orders.

Iran warns US: Any aggression will be met with a strong and decisive response

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has warned that any aggression against Iran or its vital infrastructure will trigger a “strong and decisive response”, emphasising that Tehran’s defense doctrine remains grounded in an “eye for an eye” policy. Writing on social media platform X, Araghchi made it clear that Iran will hit back against any strikes on its territory and cautioned that any third parties providing support to such actions will also be viewed as legitimate targets. The warning follows aggressive directives from US President Donald Trump, who ordered US Central Command (CENTCOM) to intensify strikes on Iranian positions and threatened that Iran would pay a steep price as military actions continue. An official from Iran’s Tasnim News Agency reinforced Araghchi’s statement, warning that if US forces target Iranian power plants or bridges, Iran will respond by targeting infrastructure, bridges, and energy assets associated with American interests throughout the region.

Bilawal accuses PML-N of undermining Shehbaz

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has alleged that some elements within the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) are weakening Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s position and creating divisions between the government and its political allies. Addressing an election rally in Poonch, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Bilawal said the PPP’s political differences with the PML-N were normal during elections. However, he claimed that the real problem was internal and involved elements within the ruling party. Bilawal said reports suggesting that the government had collapsed were incorrect. He described Prime Minister Shehbaz as a person with “good intentions”, but questioned whether the premier could succeed if people around him were working against his interests. The PPP chairman alleged that a significant section of the PML-N wanted the prime minister to confront not only opposition parties but also his coalition partners. He also criticised the phased AJK election schedule, questioning why polling was not held on a single day if the region was considered one electoral unit. Bilawal said the elections were being conducted in phases in the name of maintaining peace and ensuring free and fair polling. However, he alleged that the process had instead created opportunities for electoral manipulation. He accused the PML-N of securing seats in advance and alleged that the party had already “taken” seats in Mirpur and Muzaffarabad and was now targeting Poonch and Bagh. The PPP leader urged voters in Poonch and Bagh to respond through their votes in the upcoming elections. The AJK elections are being conducted in three phases. Polling in the Mirpur division was held on July 27, while the second phase in the Muzaffarabad division took place on August 2. The PML-N won nine of the 13 seats contested in Mirpur, while the PPP secured four. In the second phase, the PML-N won 15 additional seats in Muzaffarabad, while the PPP added six. The third phase was originally scheduled for August 10 across the Poonch division. However, the AJK Election Commission has revised the schedule because of security concerns. Under the revised plan, polling on August 10 will be held only in Bagh and Haveli districts. Elections in Poonch district and Pallandri in Sudhnoti district have been postponed. The Election Commission said it took the decision after receiving a report from the AJK home secretary highlighting concerns about the law and order situation in parts of Poonch and Pallandri. The decision follows clashes between protesters and law enforcement personnel in Rawalakot on July 27, which reportedly resulted in several casualties. Tensions have persisted in Rawalakot since early June, with the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) organising periodic protests and sit-ins. The group has been demanding the abolition of 12 seats in the AJK legislature reserved for refugees from Indian-administered Kashmir.

  • Ariana Grande reignites romance rumours with Ricky…

Ariana Grande has reignited speculation about a possible romance with her former boyfriend Ricky Alvarez after featuring him prominently in a new Instagram photo album. The pop superstar shared a series of personal images on Wednesday, giving fans a glimpse into her travels during her ongoing Eternal Sunshine Tour. The post arrived shortly after Grande revealed that she plans to step away from the spotlight once the tour concludes on September 1, saying she needs a break from the intense attention that has surrounded her in recent years. Among the images was a particularly intimate-looking moment involving Alvarez, Grande’s former backup dancer and ex-boyfriend. In the photograph, Alvarez appeared with his arm around Grande, although the pair’s faces were deliberately kept outside the frame. Another picture showed Grande holding closely onto Alvarez, while his face was blurred. The images quickly caught the attention of fans, with many questioning whether Grande and Alvarez could have rekindled their relationship. However, neither Grande nor Alvarez has confirmed that they are romantically involved again, leaving the nature of their current relationship unclear. Grande and Alvarez were previously linked romantically in 2015 and 2016. Their relationship ended years ago, but the pair have remained connected over time, occasionally appearing together in social media posts and public settings. The renewed speculation comes at a significant moment for Grande, who recently announced plans to reduce her public visibility following the completion of her tour. Her decision was reportedly influenced in part by the constant scrutiny surrounding her personal life and career. The singer’s announcement came shortly after widespread online discussion surrounding her appearance in her latest Petal music video. The release generated considerable attention across social media, with viewers commenting on her appearance and sparking another wave of public discussion. Following the reaction to the video, Grande’s representative confirmed that the singer would be “taking a step back from visibility” after completing the Eternal Sunshine Tour. The statement suggested that Grande intends to spend less time in the public eye once her current professional commitments come to an end. Reports have also suggested that people close to the singer have encouraged her to take a break from her demanding career. While Grande has not indicated how long her planned hiatus will last, her decision appears to reflect a desire for greater privacy and distance from constant public attention. Amid those developments, her appearance alongside Alvarez has naturally generated further interest in her personal life. Fans are now closely examining the singer’s latest social media activity for clues about whether the former couple’s connection has developed into something romantic again. For now, however, the Instagram images remain open to interpretation. Grande and Alvarez have not publicly addressed the renewed romance rumours, and there has been no official confirmation that they have resumed their relationship.
