Car Driver Crashes Into Child Development Center in Kanchanaburi, Injuring 18, Driver Had Suspected Medical Emergency

A serious accident occurred this afternoon (August 7th) injuring eighteen young children when a sedan driver veered off the road and slammed into the Ban Nong Song Ton Child Development Center in Kaeng Sian Subdistrict, Muang District, Kanchanaburi. The crash happened shortly after noon while children were resting inside the facility. It is believed the driver had a medical emergency.
Initial reports confirm 18 children sustained injuries, most suffering head wounds. Rescue teams quickly transported them to Phaholpolpayuhasena Hospital for treatment. Another 16 children escaped unharmed and have since been picked up by their parents.
Authorities suspect the driver may have lost control due to a sudden blackout linked to an existing heart condition.
Ms. Napaporn Nen Thong, a childcare worker at the center, explained the moment of the accident to reporters: “At around 11:43 a.m., while the children were asleep, the car suddenly plowed into the side of the building, causing chaos and injuries.”
Local officials, including the district chief of Muang Kanchanaburi, officers from the Department of Social Development and Human Security, and police from Muang Kanchanaburi Station, have visited the site to oversee assistance and monitor the situation.
