Gigi Hadid breaks silence after secret wedding rumours

Gigi Hadid has made a fresh social media appearance after recently grabbing attention with a wedding ring during a public outing with her boyfriend, Bradley Cooper.

The supermodel, who was previously in a relationship with singer Zayn Malik, returned to Instagram on Sunday, August 9, sharing a series of photos that gave fans a glimpse into her summer days with her daughter, Khai. The update came just days after Gigi and Bradley fueled speculation that they may have secretly tied the knot.

The 31-year-old model appeared to be enjoying a relaxed summer getaway with family and friends. Among the first pictures she shared was a sweet beach moment featuring Gigi alongside her younger sister, Bella Hadid. Both sisters looked effortlessly stylish as they posed together while enjoying the sunny surroundings.

Another photo showed Gigi spending time with a close friend on a yacht, while their daughters were seen wearing matching swimsuits. The collection of images also captured several warm mother-daughter moments, highlighting how the model has been making the most of her summer break with Khai.

Gigi’s post quickly attracted significant attention from her millions of followers. While many fans praised the beautiful summer snapshots, others could not help but notice how much Khai has grown.

Several followers took to the comments section to express their surprise at seeing the little girl looking noticeably older. Fans described Khai as “so big” and shared their amazement at how quickly she appears to be growing up.

The Instagram update also gave Gigi an opportunity to shift the focus away from the recent wedding speculation and toward her personal life and time with her daughter.

Rumours surrounding Gigi and Bradley intensified earlier this month when the couple were spotted together in Paris. On Monday, August 3, the pair were photographed walking hand in hand through the French capital, with their jewellery immediately catching the attention of fans.

Both appeared to be wearing rings on their hands, leading to widespread speculation that they may have secretly exchanged wedding vows. However, neither Gigi nor Bradley has publicly confirmed that they are married.

The couple, who have reportedly been romantically linked since 2023, have generally kept their relationship away from the spotlight. Their rare public appearances have therefore continued to attract considerable attention.

Gigi’s ring also became a major talking point among fans. The jewellery reportedly features 33 quarter-carat diamonds set alongside 18-karat yellow and white gold in a Grosgrain design. The ring has been reported to cost around $6,450.

Despite the growing speculation, Gigi has not addressed the marriage rumours directly. Instead, her latest Instagram post focused on her summer memories, family and daughter.

For now, fans will have to wait for Gigi or Bradley to confirm whether the rings were simply jewellery or a sign of a secret wedding.

Cardi B hits back at critics demanding more from h…

Cardi B is making it clear that fan complaints will not push her to release more music or create more music videos. Instead, the rapper says constant criticism may have the exact opposite effect. During an X Spaces conversation on August 11, Cardi addressed listeners who have questioned her recent release schedule and wondered why some of her songs receive music videos and more promotional attention than others. Rather than promising to step up her output, the Grammy-winning artist responded with her trademark honesty. (People.com) Cardi explained that complaints do not motivate her to return to the studio. In fact, they can make her want to stop working altogether. She made it clear that she is not interested in allowing outside pressure to dictate her creative process. The rapper also pushed back against the idea that every song needs the same level of promotion. According to Cardi, different tracks can have different aesthetics, visuals and promotional strategies. She does not believe every release needs to receive identical treatment simply because fans expect it. Her comments come as she deliberately takes a break from music. Cardi revealed that she had already planned to take the summer off and spend more time enjoying herself and being with her family. She also acknowledged that she has not been spending as much time in the studio recently. (The Grio) The decision follows an especially busy period for the rapper. Cardi released her long-awaited second studio album, Am I the Drama?, in September 2025. The 23-track project debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, giving her another major career milestone. (People.com) She then took the album on her first full headlining arena tour, the Little Miss Drama Tour. The North American run began in February and wrapped in April, giving the star plenty of reason to slow down afterward. (People.com) Still, Cardi has not completely stepped away from music. On July 31, she released “AH HA,” a solo track that also marked her 30th career top 10 on Billboard’s Hot Rap Songs chart. (People.com) For now, however, Cardi appears determined to enjoy her downtime on her own terms. Her message to critics is simple: demanding more will not speed up her creative process. Instead, the outspoken rapper is choosing rest, family and enjoying her summer — proving once again that she is not afraid to do things her own way.

China rejects US sanctions on research institutions

China has strongly opposed a US decision to place several Chinese research institutions on a sanctions list. Beijing criticised the move on Wednesday. It accused Washington of using national security concerns to restrict scientific and technological cooperation between the two countries. A spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Commerce said Beijing would take necessary steps to protect the legitimate rights and interests of its research institutions. The spokesperson also said China wanted to maintain a stable environment for normal scientific exchanges and cooperation with international partners. Beijing accused the United States of repeatedly expanding the definition of national security. It said Washington had created discriminatory barriers against Chinese institutions. China also criticised what it described as the politicisation and weaponisation of scientific research. According to Beijing, such policies could damage cooperation between researchers and universities in both countries. The Chinese government said the US measures were against the broader global trend of international cooperation in science and technological innovation. Beijing urged Washington to withdraw what it called unjustified accusations against Chinese research institutions. China also called on the United States to correct its policies as soon as possible. It demanded fair, just and non-discriminatory treatment for Chinese research organisations. The dispute comes amid wider tensions between Washington and Beijing over technology, trade and national security. The United States has increasingly tightened restrictions on Chinese access to advanced technologies. Semiconductor manufacturing has become a major area of competition between the two countries. China is also working to expand its domestic semiconductor industry. Beijing aims to reduce its dependence on advanced foreign chips affected by US export restrictions. Last week, the US Department of Defence updated a list of foreign institutions it considers involved in “problematic activities”. The updated list included Chinese defence-related academies and several universities. Shanghai-based Fudan University was also among the institutions added to the list. The latest move is likely to add another point of tension to already strained US-China relations. Beijing has repeatedly opposed US measures targeting Chinese companies, universities and research organisations. Washington, meanwhile, has maintained that its restrictions are linked to national security and technology concerns.

Selena Gomez, Wondermind partners sued by investors

American singer and actress Selena Gomez, her mother Mandy Teefey and former business partner Daniella Pierson are facing a lawsuit from investors in Wondermind, a mental health startup co-founded by Gomez. The investors have accused the three of misleading them about the company’s financial condition, business activities and future plans. The lawsuit was filed in a Delaware court on Thursday. According to the complaint, two groups of investors collectively invested nearly $1.2 million in Wondermind. They allege that the company’s founders and executives made representations about its business that did not match reality. The investors have brought several claims, including securities fraud, common-law fraud and breach of contract. They allege that they were kept unaware of serious problems within the company while their money continued to fund its operations. Wondermind was launched in 2021 with a focus on mental fitness. The company promotes practical ways for people to prioritise their mental wellbeing in everyday life. Gomez is identified as a co-founder of the startup, while Teefey served as its chief executive. Pierson was also a co-founder but left the company in 2023 following reported disagreements with Teefey. The investors claim they were encouraged to put money into Wondermind after being told about major commercial opportunities. These allegedly included partnerships with companies such as JPMorgan, advertising arrangements, celebrity magazine features and plans for a major mobile application. According to the lawsuit, those opportunities either did not exist or failed to materialise. The investors also allege that the promised app was never developed. The complaint claims the investors only became aware of the company’s internal problems after a September report examined disputes within Wondermind and allegations of mismanagement. The investors subsequently contacted Teefey in November and requested that their money be returned. They say Teefey initially indicated that she would respond within 10 days but did not provide a substantive response. The complaint states that Teefey later replied to another notice in April, saying she believed the investment had already been returned. She reportedly referred further questions to Gomez’s legal team. The investors allege that Teefey later said Wondermind had established an escrow account to facilitate repayment. However, they claim repeated requests for information about the account went unanswered. The plaintiffs allege that no such escrow account existed and describe the events as part of an alleged years-long scheme to mislead investors. The lawsuit seeks repayment of the investors’ original funds, along with additional damages and legal costs.

Karachi oil spill: NRL pipeline bursts in DHA phas…

A crude oil pipeline operated by National Refinery Limited (NRL) burst in Karachi’s DHA Phase VI, triggering an emergency containment and repair operation, authorities said. The leak occurred around 10:30pm on Saturday on Khayaban-e-Sehar, Street 13. The pipeline carries crude oil from Keamari to Korangi and reportedly runs through a road median. The incident caused crude oil to spill onto the road, prompting authorities to restrict access to the affected area. NRL’s response team arrived around midnight and began containment and cleanup operations using specialised spill kits. More than 20 drums of leaked oil had been collected, while excavation work was launched to identify the exact point of the damaged pipeline and stop the leak completely. The Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (Sepa) directed authorities to safely remove contaminated soil, sand and sludge and dispose of the material according to environmental regulations. Fresh sand will reportedly be placed after remedial work is completed. Officials urged residents to stay away from the affected location and avoid smoking or using open flames near the spilled oil. They also warned residents against attempting cleanup themselves or washing oil into nearby drains. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.
