Mir Raza’s father says new probe is moving in ri…

KARACHI: The father of young Karachi resident Mir Raza has expressed confidence in the newly formed investigation team. He said he felt, for the first time in 13 days, that the investigation was moving in the right direction.

Mir Raza’s parents, lawyer Jibran Nasir and members of the new investigation team visited locations connected to the case. The visit was aimed at reviewing important points and gathering information that could help investigators understand what happened.

Jibran Nasir said the family had identified several important locations on its own. These locations were later shown to the police. He said Mir Raza’s parents were cooperating fully with the investigators and answering their questions.

Nasir said the investigation team was waiting for the results of samples collected during the post-mortem examination. He said additional samples obtained after the exhumation had also been sent to a forensic laboratory.

The lawyer said the family now believed that an honest and serious officer was handling the investigation. He said the family had earlier faced difficulties in getting the matter investigated properly.

Mir Raza’s father, Mir Hussain, said the family still wanted clear answers about his son’s death. He said the exact circumstances surrounding the incident had not yet been established.

According to him, the initial investigation should have been more effective. He said timely and proper action at the beginning could have taken the case to a different stage.

Mir Hussain said the new investigation team was listening to the family’s concerns. He said investigators were considering the information provided by the parents. The family, he added, now had greater confidence in the process.

He said the main objective was to establish what happened to Mir Raza and how the incident took place. The family wanted every aspect of the case to be examined.

Mir Hussain said Mir Raza’s kitchen was located around half a kilometre from the site of the incident. He also said information about three suspicious individuals had already been shared with the police.

The victim’s father further alleged that the previous investigation team had not properly shared details of the inquiry with the family. He hoped the new team would maintain transparency and investigate the case from all possible angles.

The family said it would continue cooperating with investigators. Mir Hussain said they would pursue the case as far as necessary to uncover the truth and obtain justice for Mir Raza.

Investigators are now expected to examine forensic evidence, statements and other available information. The reports from the forensic laboratory could also play an important role in determining the circumstances surrounding the case.

Wildfires force 43,000 to flee in France

More than 43,000 people have been evacuated from southwestern France as massive wildfires continue to spread across several regions, threatening residential areas, forests and popular tourist destinations. French authorities have launched one of the country’s largest emergency operations of the year as firefighters work around the clock to contain the rapidly advancing flames. The worst-affected area is located near Arcachon Bay and the Cap Ferret peninsula in the Gironde region. The wildfire has already burned through more than 8,700 hectares of land and continues to spread because of strong winds, dry vegetation and extremely high temperatures. Authorities ordered the complete evacuation of the Cap Ferret peninsula, a major holiday destination on France’s Atlantic coast that attracts thousands of visitors every summer. Residents, tourists and campers were instructed to leave immediately as emergency services expanded evacuation operations. To speed up the evacuation, authorities arranged transport by both road and sea. Special boats were deployed from several coastal villages while vehicles used the peninsula’s only highway leading to the mainland. Emergency officials urged everyone in the affected areas to leave without delay for their own safety. French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez described the Gironde wildfire as the largest fire of the current season. He said around 80 homes have been damaged, including nearly 50 houses that were completely destroyed by the flames. More than 1,000 firefighters, supported by helicopters, military engineering units and civil security teams, are working to control the blaze in Gironde. Hundreds of police officers and emergency personnel have also been deployed to help with evacuations, traffic management and public safety. A second major wildfire is burning near Biscarrosse in the neighbouring Landes region. The fire has destroyed more than 2,500 hectares of forest and forced the evacuation of over 23,000 residents, tourists and campers. Local authorities said the blaze remains out of control after continuing to spread overnight. French President Emmanuel Macron has requested international assistance through the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism. Several European countries have agreed to send additional firefighting aircraft and helicopters to help French authorities contain the fires. Croatia is sending Canadair water-bombing aircraft, while Portugal will provide specialised firefighting planes. The Czech Republic and Slovakia are also deploying heavy helicopters to assist emergency crews. Emergency officials said there have been no confirmed fatalities in the Gironde wildfire so far. However, they warned that weather conditions remain highly dangerous and could make firefighting efforts even more difficult in the coming days. Fire experts say the blazes are spreading unusually quickly because of prolonged heatwaves, severe drought and strong winds. These conditions have left forests and vegetation extremely dry, allowing fires to expand rapidly across large areas. Authorities estimate that nearly 50,000 hectares of land have burned across France since the beginning of this year’s wildfire season, making it one of the country’s most destructive fire seasons in recent years.

Kangana Ranaut renews attack on Hrithik Roshan

Kangana Ranaut has once again addressed her long-running feud with Hrithik Roshan after a viral social media trend reignited public discussion about their 2016 controversy. The actress and BJP MP shared a strongly worded message on Instagram, accusing Roshan of encouraging online criticism directed at her and urging him to stop “adding fuel to the fire.” The renewed controversy began after Kangana faced backlash for comments she made about a recent Gen-Z protest in India over alleged corruption in the education system and examination paper leaks. During her remarks, she criticised the protesters, described them as part of a problematic generation and referred to young women as “Generation Gutter,” prompting widespread criticism on social media. As criticism of Kangana intensified, many users revisited her highly publicised dispute with Hrithik Roshan. The discussion quickly evolved into a viral online trend under the slogan: “The World owes Hrithik Roshan an apology.” The trend referred to the actors’ long-running legal and public battle that began in 2016. The dispute originated when Kangana, during an interview, referred to Hrithik as her “silly ex.” Roshan denied that the two had ever been in a relationship, after which both stars exchanged legal notices and accused each other of harassment and defamation. The case ultimately concluded without a definitive legal finding because of insufficient evidence, although public opinion remained sharply divided. As the latest trend gathered momentum, Hrithik responded by commenting on an Instagram post shared by influencer Freddy Birdy. Rather than embracing the online campaign, the actor urged people to avoid taking sides without considering the full context. He wrote: “My friend, siding with ‘A’ just cause you don’t like ‘B’ anymore is a small part of the larger systemic issue plaguing our society. I’ll wait, for when the context to it is the right one, and motivated by facts. That would be fair. But then again, who cares anymore right?” Kangana later responded through her Instagram Stories, directly addressing Roshan and urging him not to encourage those attacking her online. She wrote: “Dear Hrithik, I am happy that you have found your perfect match, Saba Azad and you both look great together, you are in a committed relationship and it doesn’t suit you to tease a woman like this. Instead, you should condemn all those who are harassing and bullying me using your name.” The actress then added another pointed remark, saying: “Stop adding fuel to fire and embarrassing your partner. Hope better sense prevails and you stop making unreasonable comments.” Her latest statements quickly went viral, generating another wave of reactions across social media. While some users supported her right to respond, many others criticised the actress, arguing that reopening the years-old dispute was unnecessary. The exchange has once again brought one of Bollywood’s most talked-about celebrity feuds back into the spotlight. Although nearly a decade has passed since the original controversy, the latest online trend and subsequent responses from both actors demonstrate that the dispute continues to attract widespread public attention whenever it resurfaces.

Duki road renamed after acid attack survivor Dr Ma…

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has announced that a major road in Duki district will be renamed after Dr Mahnoor Nasir, a female doctor who survived a severe acid attack earlier this year. The decision has been taken to honour Dr Mahnoor’s courage, resilience and dedication to her profession. The chief minister said her determination and commitment to duty had made her an example for women across Balochistan. Under the notification issued by the provincial government, Haji Amanullah Masjid Road near Damani Chowk in Duki will now be known as Dr Mahnoor Nasar Road. The new name will take effect immediately. Dr Mahnoor, a 29-year-old doctor at Civil Hospital Quetta, was seriously injured in an acid attack in June. She suffered extensive burns to her face, chest, legs and other parts of her body. According to police, the alleged attacker was a hospital employee identified as Humayun Shah. Law enforcement officials later traced him while he was attempting to escape on a bus. Police said he was killed during an encounter. Chief Minister Bugti praised Dr Mahnoor for continuing to demonstrate courage despite the severe injuries she suffered. He said recognising citizens who show bravery and remain committed to their responsibilities was a duty of the government. The acid attack triggered strong condemnation across Balochistan. Members of the medical community, government officials and other sections of society called for strict action against those responsible. Doctors in Quetta also staged a strike following the incident. They demanded a transparent investigation and stronger measures to ensure the safety of medical professionals, particularly women working in hospitals. The case also came amid wider legal and social concern over acid attacks in Pakistan. In a significant ruling issued days after the incident, the Supreme Court described acid violence, or vitriolage, as a particularly heinous offence and said its gravity could exceed that of homicide. The renaming of the road is being presented by the Balochistan government as a public tribute to Dr Mahnoor’s resilience. Officials said the initiative is also intended to highlight the importance of recognising women who continue to serve their communities despite facing serious challenges.

BTS RM reveals secret behind his success

BTS leader RM has shared an emotional story about his family, revealing how his parents played different but equally important roles in shaping his life and career. Speaking during a recent interview, the South Korean rapper said his father’s unrealized dream became one of the biggest reasons he received unwavering support to pursue music. RM, whose real name is Kim Nam-joon, explained that his father had once hoped to become a cartoon artist. However, financial hardships prevented him from following that dream, forcing him to choose a more practical path in life. The BTS star said his father understood the pain of giving up a lifelong passion. Because of that experience, he never discouraged RM from pursuing music and instead encouraged him to follow his ambitions. According to RM, his father’s own sacrifices inspired him to chase his dreams without fear. He believes his father wanted him to have the opportunity that he never received. While his father motivated him to dream big, RM said his mother offered a different kind of support by helping him stay grounded and make careful decisions. He shared that his mother always encouraged him to remain practical, avoid unnecessary risks and value stability even while pursuing success. Reflecting on his upbringing, RM said he learned to balance ambition with responsibility because of the different perspectives his parents offered. The 31-year-old artist compared himself to the pendulum of a clock, constantly moving between his father’s encouragement to take chances and his mother’s advice to stay cautious. He said the guidance he received from both parents helped shape his personality and career, allowing him to pursue his goals while remaining focused and balanced. RM also expressed gratitude to his parents, describing them as a major source of strength throughout his journey from an aspiring musician to one of the world’s most successful artists.
