A 15-year-old boy was killed after a Mazda truck collided with his motorcycle near Chamra Chowrangi in Karachi’s Korangi area on Wednesday.

According to Express News, the teenage motorcyclist died at the scene following the collision. His body was shifted to Jinnah Hospital for the completion of legal and medical procedures.

Rescue officials identified the deceased as 15-year-old Sagar, son of Rajab. Police said the teenager was riding the motorcycle himself when the accident occurred.

Korangi Industrial Area SHO Hukam Dad said the incident took place after the motorcycle was struck by a Mazda truck. Police arrested the truck driver shortly after the accident and took the vehicle into custody.

Authorities have launched a further investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal collision.

The teenager was a resident of Korangi, according to police. After the completion of the necessary legal procedures, his body was handed over to his family.

The incident has once again raised concerns about road safety in Karachi, particularly involving heavy vehicles and young motorcyclists. Traffic accidents involving trucks and motorcycles can have devastating consequences because of the significant difference in size and weight between the vehicles.

Police are continuing to investigate the case, while further details regarding the circumstances of the collision may emerge as the investigation progresses.

The authorities are expected to examine the accident scene and other available evidence as part of the investigation. The arrest of the truck driver means the police can also record his statement and establish the events immediately before the collision.

    All nine educational boards across Punjab have approved a new Digital Result Card System to modernise examination records and make student services more accessible. Under the new system, boards will stop issuing traditional printed result cards to students. Instead, candidates will receive digital result cards through newly developed online result portals. Students will be able to download and print their certificates from home or use commercial printing facilities when needed. The move will also end the Rs550 fee that boards currently collect from each candidate for issuing conventional result cards at the time of admission. As a result, the boards are expected to lose a significant source of revenue. The first phase of the system will cover Class IX and First Year annual examination results. Class X and Second Year students will join the digital system in the second phase. However, students whose results were scheduled for announcement on August 6 will continue to receive printed result cards under the existing system. Board officials said digital result cards for both regular and private candidates will become available online immediately after results are announced. Regular students will access their certificates through their institutions’ online portals, while private candidates will download them directly from their respective board websites. The new certificates will carry QR codes and other security features to prevent tampering and allow educational institutions and employers to verify them electronically. Officials have also confirmed that digital result cards will have the same legal and official status as conventional certificates. They will remain valid for university admissions, employment, scholarships, equivalence certificates, document verification and other academic and official requirements. The initiative marks a major shift towards paperless examination services and is expected to make the process faster, more convenient and easier for students across Punjab.

Over half of the excess deaths occurred during the peak of the heatwave between 25 June and 27 June, with individuals aged 75 and older accounting for roughly two-thirds of the fatalities. The Île-de-France region, which encompasses Paris, recorded the highest impact, experiencing nearly 2,000 excess deaths, an 80 per cent surge above normal levels. The preliminary figures mark the highest excess mortality recorded from a heatwave in France since the historic 2003 heatwave. Authorities noted that the initial tally surpasses total summer heat-related excess deaths from the entire previous year, with consolidated final figures expected following the conclusion of summer health monitoring in the autumn.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also registered the highest number of violent incidents during the quarter. According to the CRSS report, the province recorded 151 incidents, representing 57% of all such incidents reported nationwide. Balochistan followed with 94 violent incidents, making up around 35% of the national total. The figures underline the concentration of militant activity and violence in the two provinces. Security forces have continued conducting operations in both regions to disrupt militant networks, prevent planned attacks and target individuals involved in terrorism.
