Vaneeza Ahmed reveals menopause impact on her marriage life

Vaneeza Ahmed, one of Pakistan’s most celebrated former models and actresses, has opened up about her personal experience with menopause and the significant impact it had on her physical and emotional well-being.

The former top model enjoyed a successful career in the fashion industry before making a strong mark in acting. Over the years, she appeared in several popular dramas, including Tum Se Mil Ker, Zanjeer, Na Janay Kia Hoga and Tum Hi To Ho. In recent years, she continued to impress audiences with her performances in acclaimed projects such as Ehd-e-Wafa and Kuch Ankahi.

Now 55, Vaneeza is married and is a mother of two daughters. She has also become increasingly vocal about women’s health, particularly the physical and emotional challenges women can experience during menopause.

During a recent appearance on Nida Yasir’s morning show, Vaneeza spoke candidly about how menopause affected her personality, emotions and relationship with her husband. She explained that she experienced significant changes in her body and struggled with frequent mood swings and irritability.

According to Vaneeza, she initially did not understand why she was suddenly reacting differently to situations that she had previously tolerated. Her emotional changes also began creating tension in her marriage. She said her husband questioned what had happened to her, while the lack of understanding about menopause contributed to emotional distance between them.

The actress explained that hormonal changes during menopause can affect women’s emotions and responses. She noted that women may suddenly find themselves less willing to tolerate things they previously ignored, which can sometimes lead others to describe them as rude, stubborn or difficult.

Vaneeza stressed that women and their families need greater awareness about menopause so these changes are not misunderstood. She also highlighted the importance of paying attention to mental health during this stage of life.

Sharing advice with married women, Vaneeza encouraged them not to neglect themselves while managing their family responsibilities. She clarified that prioritizing personal well-being does not mean abandoning relationships, but rather making health a priority.

She recommended maintaining a healthy routine, exercising regularly and making time for activities that bring happiness and relaxation. Vaneeza also encouraged women to reconnect with simple activities they enjoyed during childhood.

With a lighthearted suggestion, she advised women to turn on their favorite music, dance and simply enjoy the moment. Her message focused on self-care, movement and giving women permission to take time for themselves.

Vaneeza’s candid discussion has highlighted the importance of understanding menopause as a natural stage of life rather than treating its emotional and physical effects as a personal failing. Her experience also serves as a reminder that greater awareness and communication can help women and their families navigate this transition with more empathy and understanding.

    China unveils hyper-realistic robotic head

Although companies around the world—particularly in China—are making rapid progress in developing humanoid robots capable of walking, moving, and interacting like humans, creating robotic faces that display truly lifelike expressions has remained one of the biggest challenges in robotics. Engineers have long struggled to replicate the subtle emotions and facial movements that make human communication so natural. A Chinese startup is now attempting to bridge that gap by introducing a highly realistic robotic head that closely resembles a human face in both appearance and expression. The innovation represents a significant step toward narrowing the divide between humans and machines. The company behind the project, AgiBot Farm, was founded in 2024 by Yuhang Hu, an engineer from Columbia University. Its latest creation, the Origin M1, is an advanced robotic head designed to reproduce a wide range of human facial expressions with remarkable precision. Unlike conventional robots that often appear stiff or expressionless, the Origin M1 can imitate subtle facial movements that are essential to human interaction. These include raising or furrowing the eyebrows, producing a gentle smile, moving the eyes naturally, and displaying other delicate expressions that convey emotions. Such realistic facial behavior makes conversations with the robot feel more natural and engaging. Beneath its lifelike silicone skin lies an intricate mechanical system powered by 25 to 42 ultra-quiet micro motors, depending on the model. These miniature motors function similarly to human facial muscles, expanding and contracting in coordinated patterns to create highly accurate facial movements. This sophisticated design allows the robot to produce smooth and realistic expressions instead of the rigid movements commonly associated with traditional robots. The robot’s eyes are equally advanced. Hidden within its pupils are tiny cameras that enable it to observe and analyze its surroundings. These cameras help the robot detect objects, monitor movement, and better understand the environment, allowing it to respond more intelligently during interactions. To further enhance communication, the Origin M1 is equipped with built-in microphones and speakers. These components allow the robot to hear human voices, process spoken language, and engage in conversations. This combination of vision, hearing, and expressive facial movements brings the robot much closer to human-like communication than previous generations of humanoid technology. However, such cutting-edge innovation comes at a premium price. The most advanced version of the Origin M1 is currently available for approximately US$150,000, making it suitable primarily for research institutions, technology companies, and specialized industrial applications rather than everyday consumers. Looking ahead, AgiBot Farm plans to make the robot even more intelligent by integrating lip-sync technology and large language models (LLMs). These upgrades will enable the robot not only to understand spoken language more effectively but also to generate facial expressions that match the tone, emotion, and context of a conversation. As a result, future versions of the Origin M1 could communicate in a way that feels increasingly natural, empathetic, and human. The development of robots like the Origin M1 highlights the rapid pace of artificial intelligence and robotics. As these technologies continue to evolve, experts believe that highly expressive humanoid robots could eventually play important roles in healthcare, education, customer service, research, and companionship, bringing humans and machines closer together than ever before.

His noticeably slimmer physique sparked widespread discussion on social media, with many users expressing concern over his health. Some fans questioned whether the actor was suffering from an undisclosed medical condition, while others speculated that his transformation could be linked to weight-loss medications. The sudden change in his appearance quickly became a topic of conversation among social media users. Several people expressed concern and wondered whether the actor had deliberately lost a significant amount of weight or whether there was an underlying health issue. The speculation intensified as photographs and videos of Sohail from the show’s finale circulated online. However, Sohail Khan has now clarified the reason behind his weight loss and denied that it was caused by weight-loss medication. According to the actor, the transformation was primarily the result of health problems he experienced during the early days of the reality show. Explaining the situation, Sohail revealed that he fell ill during the initial period of his participation in the show. He said that he experienced anxiety and a stomach infection, which significantly affected his health and eating habits. As a result, he had to make considerable changes to his diet and restrict the amount of food he consumed. The actor explained that his weight loss was therefore not the result of using any medication specifically intended for losing weight. Instead, it happened naturally because of the illness and the dietary restrictions he had to follow while recovering. Sohail also acknowledged the important role played by the other participants during this difficult period. He said that the love, care and support he received from his fellow contestants helped him remain part of the show for nearly five weeks despite his health struggles. His clarification has helped address the concerns raised by fans and social media users regarding his appearance. While sudden changes in a celebrity’s physical appearance often lead to speculation online, Sohail’s explanation suggests that his weight loss was closely connected to his health issues during the reality show’s early days. His clarification has now provided fans with a clearer understanding of what caused the change.

Pakistan discovers high-grade lithium in Khairpur

Pakistan has taken a significant step toward joining the global lithium supply chain after the discovery of high-grade lithium in Sindh’s Khairpur district, a development that could pave the way for the country’s first domestic lithium industry and strengthen its ambitions in clean energy and advanced manufacturing. The breakthrough comes as the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) signed a strategic agreement with the Pakistan Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology (PINSTECH) to develop technology capable of extracting lithium from geothermal brine on a commercial scale. The agreement follows the successful identification of high-quality lithium in water produced from a well in Khairpur, raising hopes that Pakistan could eventually reduce its dependence on imported battery materials while creating a new high-value industrial sector. Officials familiar with the project said the collaboration will focus on designing an efficient and commercially viable extraction process. If successful, the initiative could lay the foundation for a local lithium value chain, supporting industries involved in electric vehicle batteries, renewable energy storage systems, and other high-tech applications. The discovery is also expected to attract interest from investors looking to capitalize on the rapidly growing global demand for lithium, a critical mineral used in rechargeable batteries that power electric vehicles, smartphones, laptops, and grid-scale energy storage systems. In another major development, authorities have expanded lithium exploration across Sindh. Plans are underway to investigate eight to ten additional wells in search of further lithium-rich geothermal brine deposits, increasing the likelihood of identifying commercially viable reserves. Energy experts believe Pakistan’s emerging lithium potential could diversify the country’s mineral resources, generate export opportunities, and create skilled employment if exploration results continue to be positive and commercial production becomes feasible. While further scientific studies and economic assessments are still required before large-scale production begins, the Khairpur discovery marks a milestone in Pakistan’s pursuit of critical minerals. Industry observers say sustained investment in research, technology, and infrastructure will be essential to transform the discovery into a competitive domestic lithium industry capable of supporting the country’s long-term energy transition and industrial growth.

Sindh orders three-year appointment of Qaim Ali Sh…

The Sindh government has directed Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) to take immediate steps for the three-year appointment of Professor Dr Nighat Shah, daughter of former Sindh chief minister Qaim Ali Shah, just one day before her scheduled retirement. The directive was issued following a decision of the Sindh Cabinet. Secretary of the Boards and Universities Department Abbas Baloch has also issued a formal notification in this regard. According to the notification, the provincial cabinet discussed the matter during its meeting held on August 5 under agenda item 16. The cabinet cited the broader public interest, continuity of specialised medical services, academic leadership, postgraduate medical education, research, innovation and institutional standards as reasons for considering the appointment. The notification initially states that the vice chancellor should consider appointing Dr Nighat Shah as a professor for three years. However, it subsequently directs the university administration to take immediate steps to process her three-year appointment. The university has also been instructed to implement the cabinet decision without delay and submit a report on the action taken to the Boards and Universities Department on a priority basis. The appointment has raised questions because the government has referred to a notification issued by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) on May 19, 2026. The PMDC had allowed public medical and dental institutions to hire retired faculty members on a purely contractual basis until the age of 65. However, the council had clarified that the policy was enabling in nature and was not mandatory for any institution. Under the PMDC policy, individual institutions were allowed to make decisions according to their requirements, rules, regulations and available resources. The PMDC notification also stated that contractual appointments of retired faculty would not create any right to permanent employment, seniority or absorption into the regular cadre. It further clarified that such appointments should not adversely affect the promotion opportunities, career progression or cadre structure of junior faculty members. The case has therefore raised questions about the need for the provincial cabinet to intervene in the appointment of a particular retired faculty member when the PMDC policy leaves the decision to individual institutions. The PMDC notification is a general policy applicable to public medical and dental institutions. It does not specifically direct any institution to appoint an individual faculty member. The proposed appointment has also triggered concerns over seniority within JSMU. Associate professors Dr Shazia Naseeb, Dr Nasreen Fatima, Dr Saba Khan, Dr Iram Majid and Dr Maimoona Rehman are reportedly among those whose seniority could be affected by Dr Nighat Shah’s appointment. The issue is likely to attract further attention because the proposed appointment comes immediately before Dr Nighat Shah’s retirement. Questions are also being raised about how the decision could affect existing faculty members and their career progression.

India cricketer Abishek Porel arrested over rape allegations

KOLKATA: Indian wicketkeeper-batter Abishek Porel has been arrested by Kolkata Police in connection with a case involving allegations of rape and other sexual offences, with a court remanding the 23-year-old cricketer to three days of police custody. Porel was arrested on Monday night and produced before the High Court the following day. The development comes as police investigate allegations made against the emerging cricketer. The allegations have not been proven in court. The case was filed on June 23. During an earlier hearing on July 14, the court was informed that police needed to take further steps to seize electronic devices allegedly linked to the accused. According to court proceedings, investigators were seeking the devices because they allegedly contained obscene photographs of the complainant. The court directed police authorities to continue efforts to apprehend the individuals concerned and seize the devices to prevent the alleged material from being circulated. During the August 11 hearing, the court was informed through a message from the officer in charge of Mogra Police Station that one of the respondents had been arrested on the night of August 11. Police subsequently sought additional time to complete the required legal and investigative procedures. Porel, who bats left-handed and keeps wicket, has emerged as one of India’s promising young domestic cricketers. He has represented Bengal and has played 32 first-class matches, while also featuring in 35 Indian Premier League games. His most recent competitive cricket came during the 2026 IPL season, when he appeared in four matches for Delhi Capitals before the tournament concluded. The arrest is likely to draw significant attention because of Porel’s growing profile in Indian cricket. However, the allegations remain subject to investigation and judicial proceedings, and no conclusion about his guilt can be drawn from the arrest alone. The police investigation is expected to focus on the allegations, the electronic evidence mentioned in court and statements from those involved in the case.
