Seven workers abducted in armed raid on Chagai min…

Seven workers were abducted after a group of armed men raided a private mining site in Chagai district and allegedly took away vehicles, fuel and other equipment worth millions of rupees.

According to sources, the incident occurred around 1pm on Tuesday at a mine in Mahian Kaur, located approximately 15 to 18 kilometres west of Chagai town.

Eight unidentified armed men reportedly arrived at the mining site on motorcycles. They took control of the facility and held the workers hostage before taking seven employees away with them.

Four of the abducted workers were from Gilgit. They were identified as Wajahat, Wajid, Shahid and Sabir.

The other three workers were locals. They were identified as Ziauddin from Dalbandin, Shah Saleem from Mahian in Chagai and Saeed Muhammad, who is also from Mahian.

Sources said the armed men remained at the mining site for several hours. They reportedly stayed there until around 7pm before leaving with the hostages and equipment.

The attackers allegedly took a Zambad vehicle and a four-wheel-drive pickup from the site. A motorcycle was also reportedly taken.

More than 20 solar panels were among the items removed from the mining facility. The attackers also allegedly took bedding, kitchen equipment and other supplies used by the workers.

A large quantity of fuel was also taken. Sources said the stolen fuel included around 2,500 litres of diesel and 1,500 litres of petrol.

The attackers reportedly carried out the operation without facing resistance. They then left the area with the seven workers and the stolen property.

The incident was reported to the relevant authorities soon after the attackers departed.

Local administration and security officials have launched efforts to trace the abducted workers and recover the vehicles and other property.

Search efforts are continuing in the area, while authorities are also investigating the identity and motives of the armed men.

The abduction has raised fresh security concerns for workers and private mining operations in Chagai, where remote mining sites can be difficult to secure.

At the time of reporting, there was no confirmed information about the whereabouts or condition of the seven abducted workers.

US military depletes long-range missile stockpile …

The United States has burned through nearly all of its long-range precision missiles during five months of fighting in Iran, according to three people familiar with internal defense data, fueling concern inside Washington about military readiness for future crises. The weapons in question are primarily the Army’s ground launched systems, the Army Tactical Missile System and the newer Precision Strike Missile. Two of the sources said the military has expended virtually its entire supply of both. These munitions let forces strike targets accurately from a safe distance and have already proven vital in Ukraine, where American supplied versions allowed Ukrainian troops to hit targets deep inside Russian territory. The Precision Strike Missile represents a more advanced generation designed to eventually replace the shorter range ATACMS. Defense analysts note that such long-range munitions, each costing more than a million dollars, would also play a central role in any future confrontation with China. The sources declined to specify exact remaining quantities of either weapon. President Donald Trump launched the joint offensive against Iran alongside Israel in February, initially predicting a brief campaign. Instead, the conflict has stretched on for months, and the three sources said they worry that shrinking missile reserves could weaken the country’s ability to deter rivals such as Russia and China going forward. A fourth person familiar with the matter said Central Command, which oversees American forces across the Middle East, has nearly exhausted the land based missiles it held before the war started, though it has managed to replenish supplies by drawing from military stockpiles based elsewhere around the world. All four sources spoke on condition of anonymity. Asked to respond to the stockpile figures, the White House shared a statement from Trump asserting the country holds “far more munitions than anyone in the world” and more than it currently requires. He added that American defense manufacturers are producing at record volumes while also expanding factory capacity. Analysts largely agree that certain categories of weapons, including artillery shells and select missile types, are rolling off production lines at historic rates. Still, they caution that overall output may fall well short of what a prolonged conflict would demand. Lockheed Martin, which manufactures both the ATACMS and the Precision Strike Missile along with the THAAD missile defense system, did not respond to questions about the stockpile figures or the president’s remarks. Raytheon, maker of the Tomahawk cruise missile and the Patriot interceptor, also did not respond to inquiries. Chief Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell defended the state of American readiness, saying the military maintains a deep arsenal capable of protecting national interests and has carried out multiple successful operations across combatant commands. Internal debate over munitions The stockpile figures have circulated through federal government channels over the past week amid tense internal discussions about how much longer American forces can keep striking Iranian targets without depleting reserves needed to respond to crises elsewhere in the world. One source said the drawdown in ATACMS and Precision Strike Missile inventories reflects a deliberate choice by the administration to avoid riskier tactics, such as sending piloted aircraft to drop bombs directly over Iranian territory. Because these missiles allow strikes from a distance, analysts consider them especially valuable against an adversary with sophisticated air defenses, a category that includes China. A March assessment from the Center for Strategic and International Studies noted that these weapons have already been used against targets inside Iran. That same assessment found that Precision Strike Missile stocks started the conflict relatively low, since the weapon is still new to the arsenal, though the Army has placed large orders set for delivery in 2027. Military officials have said ATACMS production is winding down as manufacturing shifts toward the newer missile system. Military leaders have spent weeks warning the president that stocks of defensive weapons, including the Patriot interceptor system effective against ballistic missiles, are running low, according to two of the sources. Several news outlets reported last week that Trump opted against launching another large scale offensive inside Iran partly because military advisers raised concerns about dwindling supplies. A separate US official disputed that account, saying the president held off due to pressure from Gulf states rather than munitions concerns. The extended campaign has also reignited debate over the scope of presidential war powers, since no formal declaration of war or authorization for the use of military force has gone before Congress. Defensive systems also strained A separate assessment published last week by the Center for Strategic and International Studies estimated that the military used roughly 65 percent of its Patriot interceptor stock between February and July, while THAAD interceptor supplies fell by at least 38 percent compared with pre war levels. Two of the sources said those figures align with internal government data, though the underlying numbers could not be independently verified. The military has also used up close to half of its worldwide Tomahawk cruise missile inventory since fighting began, according to one source, a figure that likewise could not be independently confirmed. The Tomahawk, typically launched from Navy destroyers, cruisers and submarines, has long served as the primary tool for striking heavily defended targets without exposing pilots to risk. Raytheon, now part of RTX, has reached a preliminary multi year deal with the Pentagon to expand Tomahawk output alongside other munitions as officials work to rebuild depleted stockpiles amid the ongoing conflict.

Two suspects killed in police encounter in Sheikhu…

Two suspected criminals, identified as Fayyaz Butt and Rehan Butt, were killed in an exchange of fire with police in Sheikhupura, while a case has been registered at Muridke Police Station in connection with the incident. According to police and details mentioned in the First Information Report (FIR), the two suspects were among armed men allegedly involved in a recent attack in Lahore in which three police personnel were martyred and three others were injured. The suspects had reportedly fled the scene following the attack and were later traced to a house in Sheikhupura. The FIR states that a group of three armed suspects entered the residence of a citizen, identified as Abdul Hafeez, and held his family hostage at gunpoint. Abdul Hafeez’s wife and their three children were reportedly inside the house when the suspects entered and took control of the situation. After receiving information about the presence of the suspects, police surrounded the house and launched an operation to secure the area and rescue the hostages. Police officials reportedly called upon the suspects to surrender their weapons and come out of the house peacefully. However, instead of surrendering, the suspects allegedly opened fire on the police, resulting in an exchange of gunfire between the two sides. During the confrontation, a police vehicle was also damaged by gunfire. According to the FIR, the exchange of fire continued for some time before the shooting eventually stopped. When police personnel entered the house and searched the premises, they found two bodies lying in the courtyard. Weapons were also recovered from the scene near the bodies. The deceased suspects were subsequently identified as Fayyaz Butt and Rehan Butt Police have registered a case against the suspects and other alleged accomplices under several serious charges. The FIR includes provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Act along with sections relating to the possession of explosive material, murder and attempted murder. The case has been registered at Muridke Police Station and further investigation is underway to determine the suspects’ alleged involvement in the Lahore attack and other criminal activities. Authorities are also investigating the circumstances surrounding the hostage situation and the suspects’ presence at the residence. Police are expected to examine evidence recovered from the scene, including weapons, and determine whether other individuals were involved in the incident. The development comes after the reported killing and injuries of six police personnel in Lahore, with authorities alleging that the suspects involved in that incident escaped and later took refuge in the Sheikhupura area. The police operation ultimately ended with the deaths of two suspects, while the condition and whereabouts of the hostages were not detailed in the FIR information provided. Officials said the investigation would continue to establish the complete sequence of events, identify any other people involved and determine the suspects’ connection with the earlier attack on police personnel. The incident has also raised concerns over the use of firearms and explosives by suspected criminals and the risks faced by law enforcement personnel while responding to armed confrontations. Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.

Malik Riaz seeks intervention over Bahria Town ass…

Bahria Town founder Malik Riaz Hussain has appealed to senior Pakistani officials for intervention over the ongoing actions against his company and family. In a detailed appeal, Riaz raised concerns over the freezing, seizure and auction of Bahria Town properties. He claimed that assets worth around Rs238.6 billion have already been auctioned or taken into possession. He further alleged that some properties are currently facing auction and sale proceedings. According to the appeal, development projects worth approximately Rs372 billion have also been suspended. Riaz expressed concern over what he described as the forced takeover of Bahria Town assets. He alleged that several properties were being sold at prices far below their actual market value. He maintained that legal proceedings related to several properties and other actions are still pending before the relevant courts and forums. Despite this, he alleged that some Bahria Town assets were being taken over and sold before the legal disputes had been fully resolved. The Bahria Town founder also raised concerns over alleged threats against him and members of his family. He claimed that a person accused of threatening him and his family with serious consequences, including death threats, remains free. According to Riaz, an FIR was registered against the alleged individual. He also said that the matter later came before the High Court. However, he claimed that despite the FIR and court intervention, the accused person has not been taken into custody. Riaz urged senior officials to take notice of the situation. He asked them to review the actions being taken against Bahria Town and its properties. He warned that continued freezing, seizure and auction of the company’s assets could have wider economic consequences. The appeal also highlighted the potential impact on ongoing development projects. Riaz claimed that projects worth billions of rupees have been affected by the current situation. He argued that prolonged uncertainty could affect workers, contractors, investors and other parties associated with the projects. Riaz further alleged that the valuation of some assets did not reflect their actual market worth. He claimed that properties were being sold at unusually low prices. He called for the relevant legal procedures to be followed before any further action is taken against the company’s assets. The appeal comes amid ongoing legal and financial disputes involving Bahria Town and its properties. Riaz has asked the authorities to intervene and examine the allegations raised in his appeal.

Screwworm spreads in Mexico, raising alarm across …

MEXICO CITY: A dangerous flesh-eating parasite known as the New World screwworm is spreading through parts of Mexico and Central America, with hundreds of human infections reported and growing concern over its potential impact on livestock and animal health. The parasite is the larval stage of a particular fly. Unlike ordinary flies, the female screwworm fly can lay eggs in open wounds or vulnerable areas of living animals and humans. The eggs can hatch within about a day, after which the larvae enter the wound and feed on living tissue. The infection, known as myiasis, can become severe if treatment is delayed. In serious cases, the larvae can damage muscles and even reach deeper tissues and bones. A study published in a medical journal linked to US health authorities examined 202 confirmed human cases recorded in Mexico between April 2025 and March 2026. Researchers found that reported infections increased sharply, rising from roughly three cases a week in 2025 to more than nine cases a week during 2026. More than half of the patients examined had infections involving their legs. Other cases affected the head, neck, nose, mouth and eyes, highlighting the parasite’s ability to invade different parts of the body through wounds or vulnerable tissue. The study reported six deaths among the patients examined, although researchers directly linked only one of those deaths to screwworm infection. The average age of patients was about 61, while 72 per cent were men. Researchers also found that 77 per cent of those infected had at least one pre-existing medical condition, potentially increasing their vulnerability to complications. The parasite is considered particularly dangerous for livestock because its larvae feed on living tissue. Untreated infections can cause serious wounds, weaken animals and, in severe cases, prove fatal. The resurgence has also raised concerns in the United States. The country had previously eliminated the New World screwworm after decades of control efforts, achieving eradication in 1966. However, the parasite returned to the spotlight after an infected calf was confirmed in Texas’s Zavala County in June 2026, according to international reports. The development has heightened fears that the parasite could spread further north, particularly through livestock movement and other routes. Health and agricultural authorities face the difficult task of controlling the parasite while detecting infections early. For people, experts generally stress the importance of seeking medical attention for unusual or worsening wounds, particularly after exposure in areas where screwworm is circulating. The outbreak serves as a reminder that a tiny insect can create a major public-health and agricultural challenge when conditions allow a dangerous parasite to spread.

Bradley Cooper and Gigi Hadid have become the center of intense wedding speculation after the couple was photographed in Paris wearing matching gold bands on their ring fingers. The new photos quickly sent social media into a frenzy, with many fans wondering whether the Hollywood actor and the supermodel had secretly tied the knot during a private ceremony in Europe. However, despite the growing rumors, neither Cooper nor Hadid has publicly confirmed that they are married.  The couple was spotted enjoying a relaxed outing in Paris, where photographers captured them wearing coordinating gold rings while spending time together. Their matching jewelry immediately caught the attention of fans, who interpreted the bands as possible wedding rings. The appearance has fueled widespread speculation, although representatives for the couple have remained silent on the rumors.  According to People, the rings have been identified as wedding bands from the French luxury jewelry house Boucheron. Hadid was seen wearing the Quatre Radiant Edition Wedding Band, while Cooper wore the Godron Pink Gold Wedding Band. Although the designs are traditionally marketed as wedding rings, wearing them does not necessarily confirm that the pair have exchanged vows.  Bradley Cooper and Gigi Hadid first sparked romance rumors in October 2023. Since then, the two have gradually become more comfortable sharing glimpses of their relationship in public. Over the past three years, they have attended major events together, traveled across Europe, and supported each other’s careers while largely keeping their romance out of the spotlight.  The latest Paris appearance has only intensified interest in the couple’s relationship. Fashion observers also noted how coordinated their outfits looked throughout the trip, further highlighting how their personal styles have evolved together. While the matching rings became the biggest talking point, many fans also praised the pair’s effortless chemistry during their outings around the French capital.  Despite the excitement, there is currently no official confirmation that Bradley Cooper and Gigi Hadid have secretly married. Most reports describe the situation as speculation based on the rings and the couple’s recent appearance. Until either star addresses the rumors publicly, the reports of a private European wedding remain unverified.  Whether the rings symbolize marriage, an engagement, or simply a meaningful commitment, one thing is clear: Cooper and Hadid continue to attract attention wherever they go. Their relationship has steadily grown stronger while remaining relatively private, a rarity in Hollywood. For now, fans will have to wait for an official statement. Until then, the mystery surrounding the matching gold bands is likely to keep wedding rumors alive, making Bradley Cooper and Gigi Hadid one of the entertainment world’s most talked-about couples.

Keith Urban feels relieved as Nicole Kidman moves on

Keith Urban is reportedly harboring no resentment toward his former wife, Nicole Kidman, following the end of their marriage. The country music star, who is said to have initiated their divorce, is now reportedly at peace with the decision and hopes that the actress finds happiness in the next chapter of her life. According to recent reports, Keith has let go of the guilt he once carried over the breakdown of their relationship. People close to the singer claim that he feels relieved after seeing Nicole seemingly move forward and embrace a new phase of her personal life. The development comes amid growing speculation surrounding Nicole’s alleged connection with businessman Michael Reinstein. The actress and the private equity investor have reportedly been spotted spending time together, fueling rumors that the two may have developed a romantic relationship. Keith was previously said to have struggled emotionally after seeing Nicole become close to another man. Reports claimed that the singer felt devastated and even experienced feelings of jealousy when photographs of Nicole and Michael began circulating online. However, the situation appears to have changed considerably. Those close to Keith now suggest that he no longer feels responsible for Nicole’s unhappiness and is instead pleased to see her moving on. The singer had reportedly been carrying guilt because he believed that ending their marriage had caused Nicole considerable emotional pain. Keith and Nicole officially ended their marriage earlier this year after years together. Following their separation, both stars have been focusing on their individual lives while continuing to co-parent their two daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret. Nicole’s rumored relationship with Michael became a subject of public attention in July when the pair were reportedly seen together in Portofino, Italy. During their time there, they appeared comfortable in each other’s company and were seen having a conversation near a pool. The photographs quickly sparked speculation about the nature of their relationship, with fans and media outlets questioning whether Nicole had found love again. Neither Nicole nor Michael has publicly confirmed that they are romantically involved, and the two have continued to keep their personal lives largely private. For Keith, however, Nicole’s rumored new relationship may have brought an unexpected sense of closure. Rather than remaining bitter about the end of their marriage, he is reportedly happy that she appears to be enjoying herself and beginning a new chapter. The singer’s alleged change in perspective also marks a significant shift from earlier reports suggesting that he was struggling to accept Nicole’s closeness with someone else. His previous feelings of guilt and jealousy appear to have eased as he has come to terms with their separation. While speculation surrounding Nicole and Michael continues, the actress has not publicly addressed the romance rumors. Keith, meanwhile, is reportedly concentrating on his own life and his role as a father. For now, the former couple appear to be moving forward separately, with their children remaining an important connection between them. Despite the emotional challenges surrounding their split, Keith is reportedly wishing Nicole well as she begins what could be a new chapter in her life.
