Adam Scott reveals awkward moment from daughter’…

Adam Scott has revealed an awkward but hilarious moment involving his daughter and one of his most memorable career setbacks.

The Severance star recently appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where he opened up about his daughter Francesca “Frankie” Scott’s experience in a New York acting program. What began as an ordinary acting lesson quickly became uncomfortable when Scott discovered that his own failed audition for The Office had become part of the class discussion.

Scott explained that Frankie, who is preparing to enter her senior year of high school, was attending an acting program in New York during the summer. On the first day of one of her classes, the teacher decided to show the students two audition tapes.

The first was Scott’s audition for The Office. The second belonged to John Krasinski, who ultimately won the role of Jim Halpert.

The teacher then asked the students to analyze both performances and discuss why Krasinski got the part while Scott did not. According to Scott, the instructor had no idea that one of his students was actually the actor’s daughter.

For Frankie, the lesson was understandably embarrassing.

Scott recalled that his daughter was “mortified” by the situation. The awkwardness became even greater after class, when the teacher stopped Frankie and asked whether she knew either of the actors whose auditions had been shown.

The instructor eventually connected the dots after realizing Frankie’s last name and discovering that she was Scott’s daughter. Scott said the teacher felt terrible once he understood what had happened.

Despite the uncomfortable experience for his daughter, Scott found the entire situation amusing. Rather than being offended by the criticism, he joked that he was simply happy to know that he was being used as a lesson in a prestigious acting class.

The irony is that Scott’s The Office audition did not prevent him from building a successful television career. Although Krasinski became synonymous with Jim Halpert, Scott later landed the beloved role of Ben Wyatt on Parks and Recreation. He went on to appear in projects including Big Little Lies, The Good Place and Severance.

Scott is currently filming the third season of Severance in New York, making the timing of his daughter’s acting experience even more fitting.

What could have been an embarrassing family moment ultimately became a funny reminder that even successful actors experience rejection. For Scott, his old audition may not have won him the role of Jim Halpert, but it has certainly found a new purpose as an unexpected teaching moment for the next generation of performers.

Pakistanis get relief as US visa policy overturned

A US federal judge has struck down a State Department policy that suspended immigrant visa processing for applicants from Pakistan and 74 other countries. US District Judge Jeannette Vargas issued the ruling in Manhattan, finding that the policy exceeded the legal authority of Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The State Department had introduced the suspension in January, preventing consular officials from issuing immigrant visas to applicants based solely on their nationality. Judge Vargas described the policy as unlawful and said it conflicted with federal immigration law. She ruled that the law does not give the Secretary of State the authority to impose a blanket suspension on immigrant visa issuance based on an applicant’s nationality. The policy affected applicants from a wide range of countries, including Pakistan and Bangladesh in South Asia. Several countries in Latin America, the Balkans, Africa, the Middle East and the Caribbean were also included. US authorities had defended the measure by arguing that applicants from the listed countries were considered more likely to become dependent on government-funded assistance after entering the United States. The ruling came in a case brought by immigrant rights organisations, visa applicants and US citizens sponsoring family members from the affected countries. The plaintiffs challenged the State Department’s decision, arguing that the blanket suspension unlawfully restricted access to the immigrant visa process. The decision represents a legal setback for the Trump administration, which has pursued tougher immigration policies since returning to office. The administration has said its immigration measures are intended to strengthen national security and reduce pressure on public resources. Immigrant rights groups, however, have criticised several aspects of the crackdown. They have raised concerns about due process, discrimination and the treatment of ethnic minorities. The State Department had not immediately issued a response to the judge’s decision.

Madaris back Army, reject Fazlur remarks

The Muttahida Madaris Council Pakistan has publicly distanced itself from recent remarks made by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman regarding the Pakistan Army and the country’s martyrs. In an official statement, the council said religious seminaries across Pakistan have always stood with the country’s armed forces and fully respect the sacrifices made by military personnel in defending the nation. It stressed that no seminary or religious educational institution supports any narrative that could be interpreted as being against the armed forces. The council reaffirmed its commitment to national unity and expressed solidarity with Pakistan’s security institutions. It also paid tribute to the country’s martyrs, saying their sacrifices for national security and peace deserve the highest respect. The controversy began after Fazlur Rehman addressed a public gathering in Kasur, where he spoke about the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. During his speech, his comments about soldiers and martyrdom sparked widespread criticism from political leaders and members of the public. Several politicians described the remarks as inappropriate and called on the JUI-F chief to publicly clarify or withdraw his statement. They maintained that the sacrifices of soldiers should not become part of political debate and should always be treated with respect. Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan strongly criticised the remarks and urged Fazlur Rehman to issue a public apology. He also proposed the formation of a Senate committee to examine the issue and determine whether the veteran politician should be formally called to explain his comments. The matter has also entered the legal arena. A sessions court has issued a notice to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) regarding the registration of a cybercrime case linked to the controversial remarks. The agency is expected to submit its response during the legal proceedings. Legal experts say the court will review the available evidence before deciding whether further action is warranted under the relevant laws. The controversy has continued to dominate political discussions, with leaders from different parties expressing contrasting views over the issue. While critics insist that the remarks were disrespectful to the sacrifices of the armed forces, supporters of Fazlur Rehman have defended his right to express political opinions.

Ariana Grande plans secret project before stepping away

Ariana Grande is reportedly preparing a special surprise for her fans as she gets ready to take a break from public-facing work following her Eternal Sunshine Tour. The 33-year-old singer recently revealed that she plans to step away from the spotlight after completing her current tour. Ariana explained that the decision came after years of dealing with intense and ongoing public scrutiny. She has also withdrawn from the upcoming production of Sunday in the Park with George, with her role expected to be recast. Despite her decision to take a break, Ariana is said to be planning one final project connected to her current tour. Reports suggest that the singer intends to film her London performances and turn them into a special that could allow fans to relive the Eternal Sunshine era. The project would reportedly serve as a lasting memory of her return to the stage. Ariana is believed to have been surprised by how much she enjoyed performing again after previously thinking she might never tour in the future. The special could also become a meaningful gift for her supporters as she takes time away from public life. Ariana has repeatedly expressed her appreciation for the fans who have supported her throughout her career and during her latest musical chapter. Earlier this week, the singer completed the North American leg of her tour and shared an emotional message with her followers. She expressed deep gratitude for the experience and said that the past few months had been incredibly special, joyful and fulfilling. Ariana also assured fans that her decision to step away was not made impulsively or because of negative reactions surrounding her career. During a recent concert, she explained that the hiatus had been part of a plan she had quietly considered for a long time. The pop star emphasized that the decision came from a thoughtful and empowered place rather than from frustration. She also addressed concerns that public criticism or negativity had damaged her enjoyment of performing. According to Ariana, the opposite was true. She made it clear that she has genuinely loved being back on stage and has valued the connection she has shared with her audience throughout the tour. The singer’s decision marks a significant change after years of maintaining a highly visible career in music, film and television. Before the Eternal Sunshine Tour, Ariana’s last major world tour was the Sweetener World Tour in 2019. That tour became a major moment in her career and was later turned into a concert film released on Netflix. Her latest tour has similarly attracted considerable attention, making a filmed London performance a fitting way to preserve the experience. While Ariana has not publicly confirmed details about the reported project, fans are now eagerly waiting to see whether the Eternal Sunshine Tour will receive its own official concert special. For now, Ariana appears focused on completing this chapter of her career before taking the time she feels she needs away from the public eye.

Chelsea complete £52 million signing of France defender Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace

Chelsea have signed France international defender Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace in a deal reported to be worth 52 million pounds, or roughly 69 million dollars. Lacroix has put pen to paper on a six year contract with the Blues and will now join his new teammates for pre season training. The 26 year old has earned seven caps for France and featured for his country at the recent World Cup. Speaking after the move was confirmed, Lacroix said he felt proud to become part of a club with Chelsea’s history and winning tradition. He said his conversation with the club’s manager convinced him they share the same vision and ambition, adding that the quality of the squad and the resources around the club make winning trophies a realistic goal he is eager to help achieve. Lacroix joined Crystal Palace from Wolfsburg in 2024 and went on to make 98 appearances for the club. During his time at Selhurst Park, he helped Palace win the FA Cup, the UEFA Conference League and the Community Shield. The defender becomes the latest addition to new Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso’s rebuilding effort this close season. Alonso has already overseen a British record 117 million pound deal for Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers and a 47 million pound move for Atalanta right back Marco Palestra. Winger Geovany Quenda and forward Emmanuel Emegha have also joined the club, completing transfers that were initially agreed last year. Chelsea have further been linked with moves for Brighton striker Danny Welbeck and Brentford midfielder Jordan Henderson. Alonso took charge of the club on July 1 and is tasked with reviving a Chelsea side that finished a disappointing 10th in the Premier League last season, a result that left the club without European football for the upcoming campaign.
