Iqtidar Wali Khan launches strong criticism of PTI…

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Iqtidar Wali Khan has launched a strong criticism of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), accusing members and supporters of the party of placing former prime minister Imran Khan above Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and questioning their commitment to the country’s founding principles.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Iqtidar Wali Khan alleged that some PTI supporters consider Imran Khan a leader greater than Quaid-e-Azam and do not accept the Two-Nation Theory. He questioned how figures such as Barrister Gohar, Ali Zafar, Umair Niazi and Asad Qaiser, whom he described as patriotic individuals, could remain associated with the party while it was allegedly pursuing such politics.

The prime minister’s aide accused PTI activists of repeatedly becoming part of what he called anti-state movements and attempting to continue the events of May 9. He also criticised slogans associated with PTI supporters, including “No Khan, No Pakistan,” and alleged that they compared Imran Khan with Quaid-e-Azam while making fun of Allama Iqbal’s vision for the country.

Iqtidar Wali further criticised the PTI’s previous government and levelled serious allegations regarding its administration. He claimed that during the party’s tenure in power, the second floor of the Prime Minister’s House had allegedly been turned into a dance floor, where he alleged that drinking and dancing gatherings were held. He also made allegations about the presence of practices related to black magic within the government setup.

He further accused the PTI leadership of making statements that, according to him, undermined the country’s defence capabilities during periods of tension with India. He claimed that when a conflict or Indian attack arose, some PTI figures would say that there was not even enough fuel available for Pakistan’s tanks.

The special assistant also criticised PTI supporters for holding protests on Independence Day. He questioned why anyone would choose the national day for political demonstrations, arguing that such actions could cause concern among Pakistan’s enemies rather than contribute to national unity.

He appealed to political parties to carefully consider PTI’s political conduct before forming alliances or cooperating with its leadership. Referring to comments attributed to Maulana Naseem Shah about the difficulties faced by Pakistan decades after Allama Iqbal’s dream, he urged political forces to examine what he described as the party’s actions before extending political cooperation.

Iqtidar Wali also targeted the PTI-led government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He claimed that the party had governed the province for around 15 years while repeatedly promoting slogans such as “Riyasat-e-Madina” and “Naya Pakistan.” He alleged that, despite these claims, individuals involved in drug trafficking, smuggling and the ice-drug trade had gained influence in the province.

He further alleged that some people who previously lacked sufficient resources even for basic expenses had become owners of high-end hotels after gaining political influence.

The remarks by Iqtidar Wali Khan come amid continued political tensions between the government and PTI. His statements reflect the sharp political divide between the two sides, with the government repeatedly accusing PTI of undermining state institutions, while PTI has consistently rejected such allegations and maintained that its political struggle is aimed at protecting democratic rights and securing political justice.

Kusal Mendis ruled out of LPL 2026 With hamstring injury

Sri Lanka’s ODI captain Kusal Mendis has been ruled out of the remainder of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2026 after suffering a hamstring injury during Colombo Caps’ match against Kandy Royals. The wicketkeeper-batter sustained the injury while attempting a run during the contest, although Colombo Caps went on to register a six-wicket victory. Following medical assessments, Sri Lanka Cricket confirmed that Mendis will begin his rehabilitation at the National High Performance Centre. His absence is a significant setback for Colombo Caps, who have appointed Kamindu Mendis as captain for the rest of the tournament. The injury also raises concerns for Sri Lanka ahead of their two-match series against India, scheduled to begin on August 15. Mendis is a key member of the national side across formats and was expected to play a leading role, including wicketkeeping duties. However, officials have not yet announced a timeline for his recovery. Before the injury, Mendis had been in outstanding form. He opened his LPL campaign with a brilliant 79-run knock against Galle Gallants and continued to demonstrate the consistency that has made him one of Sri Lanka’s most dependable batters. Earlier this year, he enjoyed a memorable Pakistan Super League season, scoring 550 runs in 11 innings at an impressive strike rate of 168.19, making him one of the competition’s standout performers. Mendis has also carried that momentum into international cricket in 2026, scoring 408 runs in 14 innings across all formats. In One-Day Internationals alone, he has accumulated 211 runs in four innings at an outstanding average of 70.33. Sri Lanka’s medical staff will now closely monitor his recovery, hoping the experienced batter regains full fitness in time for the upcoming international assignments. His absence from the remainder of the LPL is a major blow for Colombo Caps as they continue their campaign without their captain and leading run-scorer.

Sadia Imam’s eyebrow lift look sparks debate on social media

Pakistani actress and television host Sadia Imam has become the center of discussion on social media after her latest appearance drew widespread attention for her noticeably lifted eyebrows. Photos and clips from the appearance quickly circulated online, with many users sharing mixed reactions to her changed look. Sadia Imam is regarded as one of Pakistan’s well-known television personalities, having earned recognition through her performances in several popular drama serials over the years. She rose to prominence with her work in classic PTV productions and later appeared in numerous successful projects, establishing herself as a familiar face in the country’s entertainment industry. Alongside acting, she has also built a successful career as a television host. The recent discussion began after Sadia Imam appeared via video link during a television program earlier this week. While viewers tuned in to hear her thoughts during the show, much of the online conversation shifted toward her facial appearance, particularly her prominently arched eyebrows. Shortly after the broadcast, screenshots and video clips from the program spread across social media platforms, prompting users to comment on what they described as an unusually lifted eyebrow look. Many questioned whether the appearance was the result of a beauty filter used during the video call, while others speculated that it could be linked to cosmetic procedures such as Botox or an eyebrow lift. Several social media users claimed that the change in her facial expressions made her look noticeably different from her previous television appearances. Some described the look as overly dramatic, while others suggested that cosmetic enhancements should remain subtle to preserve natural facial features. However, not all reactions were critical. A number of users urged others to avoid judging celebrities based solely on their appearance, arguing that every individual has the right to make personal choices regarding beauty treatments or cosmetic procedures. Others pointed out that lighting, camera angles, makeup, or video filters can significantly alter a person’s appearance on screen, making it unfair to draw conclusions from short video clips. The discussion once again highlighted how public figures often face intense scrutiny over their appearance, with even minor changes becoming a topic of widespread debate across digital platforms. In recent years, several celebrities from Pakistan and abroad have encountered similar reactions after appearing with different makeup styles, cosmetic enhancements, or aesthetic procedures. As the clips continue to circulate online, Sadia Imam has not publicly addressed the comments or responded to the speculation surrounding her appearance. Meanwhile, the conversation continues across social media, with opinions remaining divided between those criticizing the look and those calling for greater respect for personal choices and privacy.

Iran’s supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei names Bag…

TEHRAN: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei has reshuffled two key positions in the country’s security and political establishment, appointing Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr as his political adviser and former Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander Mohsen Rezaei as his representative on the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC). The appointments were announced through messages attributed to Khamenei on social media on Sunday, according to reports, placing two veteran figures with extensive military and political experience in prominent roles at a sensitive moment for Tehran. In his message to Zolghadr, Khamenei cited his “valuable experience” while appointing him as a political adviser. Zolghadr has held several senior positions in Iran’s security establishment and previously served as secretary of the SNSC. The move follows Zolghadr’s departure from the council’s top administrative position. Reports said Rezaei has been appointed to replace him as secretary of the powerful security body, while also serving as Khamenei’s representative on the council. Rezaei is a veteran figure in Iran’s political and military establishment. He served as commander of the IRGC for much of the Iran-Iraq war era and has held a range of senior political positions. He has also previously run for Iran’s presidency. The latest appointments are drawing attention because the SNSC plays a central role in coordinating Iran’s defence, security and foreign-policy decisions. Although the council is formally chaired by President Masoud Pezeshkian, its work brings together senior political, military and security institutions. The timing of the reshuffle is particularly significant as Iran faces continuing pressure over regional security and negotiations surrounding the Strait of Hormuz. Recent diplomatic efforts have focused on arrangements for shipping through the strategically important waterway, making changes within Tehran’s security leadership especially closely watched. Both Zolghadr and Rezaei are associated with Iran’s security establishment and have extensive experience in military affairs. Analysts are therefore likely to watch closely for any indication that the appointments could affect Tehran’s approach to negotiations, regional security or relations with the United States. The reshuffle also strengthens the role of figures with longstanding links to the IRGC within the leadership structure. Rezaei had already served as a military adviser to Mojtaba Khamenei before taking on the latest assignment. For Zolghadr, the new position keeps him within the senior leadership circle despite his exit from the SNSC secretaryship. His experience in security and political affairs could allow him to continue playing a role in shaping policy from the Supreme Leader’s office. The appointments come at a critical time for Iran, with international attention focused on Tehran’s security posture and the future of the Strait of Hormuz. Whether the changes represent a broader adjustment in Iran’s negotiating strategy remains to be seen, but the elevation of two experienced security figures is likely to keep Tehran’s next moves under close scrutiny.
