Sadia Imam’s eyebrow lift look sparks debate on social media

Pakistani actress and television host Sadia Imam has become the center of discussion on social media after her latest appearance drew widespread attention for her noticeably lifted eyebrows. Photos and clips from the appearance quickly circulated online, with many users sharing mixed reactions to her changed look.

Sadia Imam is regarded as one of Pakistan’s well-known television personalities, having earned recognition through her performances in several popular drama serials over the years. She rose to prominence with her work in classic PTV productions and later appeared in numerous successful projects, establishing herself as a familiar face in the country’s entertainment industry. Alongside acting, she has also built a successful career as a television host.

The recent discussion began after Sadia Imam appeared via video link during a television program earlier this week. While viewers tuned in to hear her thoughts during the show, much of the online conversation shifted toward her facial appearance, particularly her prominently arched eyebrows.

Shortly after the broadcast, screenshots and video clips from the program spread across social media platforms, prompting users to comment on what they described as an unusually lifted eyebrow look. Many questioned whether the appearance was the result of a beauty filter used during the video call, while others speculated that it could be linked to cosmetic procedures such as Botox or an eyebrow lift.

Several social media users claimed that the change in her facial expressions made her look noticeably different from her previous television appearances. Some described the look as overly dramatic, while others suggested that cosmetic enhancements should remain subtle to preserve natural facial features.

However, not all reactions were critical. A number of users urged others to avoid judging celebrities based solely on their appearance, arguing that every individual has the right to make personal choices regarding beauty treatments or cosmetic procedures. Others pointed out that lighting, camera angles, makeup, or video filters can significantly alter a person’s appearance on screen, making it unfair to draw conclusions from short video clips.

The discussion once again highlighted how public figures often face intense scrutiny over their appearance, with even minor changes becoming a topic of widespread debate across digital platforms. In recent years, several celebrities from Pakistan and abroad have encountered similar reactions after appearing with different makeup styles, cosmetic enhancements, or aesthetic procedures.

As the clips continue to circulate online, Sadia Imam has not publicly addressed the comments or responded to the speculation surrounding her appearance. Meanwhile, the conversation continues across social media, with opinions remaining divided between those criticizing the look and those calling for greater respect for personal choices and privacy.

Manuel Neuer signals likely retirement at season’s end

Bayern Munich captain Manuel Neuer has said it is “very likely” he will retire at the conclusion of the upcoming campaign, bringing an end to a career that has defined modern goalkeeping. Speaking at Bayern’s training camp in southern Bavaria, the 40‑year‑old confirmed that his one‑year contract extension signed in May would almost certainly be his last. “It certainly looks very likely I’m going to retire,” Neuer told reporters, adding that the strength of the current squad convinced him to play one more season. Neuer has battled recurring muscle injuries but remains a key figure for Bayern, who won the Bundesliga and German Cup double last season before falling to Paris Saint‑Germain in the Champions League semi‑finals. He missed the German Cup final against Stuttgart, with Jonas Urbig deputising in goal. The 2014 World Cup winner retired from international football after Euro 2024 but briefly returned for the most recent World Cup, where Germany exited in the last 32 against Paraguay. Since joining Bayern from Schalke in 2011, Neuer has collected 13 Bundesliga titles, six German Cups and two Champions League crowns. Despite hinting at retirement, he insisted the coming season would not be treated as a farewell tour. “I’m not playing these matches just to say, ‘This is my last game,’” he said.

Ronaldo, Georgina spark fresh wedding rumours

Cristiano Ronaldo and his fiancée Georgina Rodríguez have reignited speculation about their wedding after the couple were spotted wearing matching diamond rings during a summer getaway in Mallorca, Spain. The appearance quickly fuelled rumours that the football icon and his longtime partner may finally be preparing to tie the knot. Photographs published on Friday showed Ronaldo and Rodríguez boarding a luxury yacht with friends while enjoying their holiday in Mallorca. According to The Sun, the Portuguese superstar was seen wearing a large diamond ring on the ring finger of his left hand, a finger traditionally associated with wedding and engagement bands. Rodríguez was also photographed wearing the engagement ring Ronaldo gave her after proposing last year. The sight of both partners wearing diamond rings on their ring fingers immediately sparked fresh speculation that a wedding could be approaching. The rumours gained further momentum after an unverified notice circulated online claiming the couple planned to marry on Saturday at Quinta da Regaleira, a historic estate in Portugal. However, the claims were never officially confirmed and were later dismissed. Sources close to the couple denied the reports, pointing out that Quinta da Regaleira remained open to the public on the alleged wedding date and was scheduled to host an evening musical performance, making a private ceremony highly unlikely. Fans nevertheless continued to speculate on social media. One user on X wrote: “They have been wearing matching luxury rings for years, but hopefully this means the actual date is finally set.” Another commented: “If he still failed his promise he said, ‘the next day after the World Cup, he will propose to her with the WC trophy.’” Although neither Ronaldo nor Rodríguez has publicly commented on the latest rumours, the couple have repeatedly spoken about their commitment to one another. They have been together since 2016 and share a family with their children, while Rodríguez also helps raise Ronaldo’s older children. Ronaldo has previously addressed the topic of marriage, explaining that he intends to marry Rodríguez when the time feels right. Speaking about his future plans, he said: “I’m going to marry her because I believe it’s the right time. Not just because she’s the mother of my children, but because she’s the person I love most.” The heartfelt statement has frequently been cited by fans whenever speculation about the couple’s wedding resurfaces. For now, there has been no official confirmation that wedding plans are underway. Despite the excitement generated by the matching diamond rings, reports of an imminent ceremony remain unverified. Still, the latest photographs have once again captured the imagination of fans, many of whom hope the football superstar and his longtime partner will soon make their relationship official after years together.

Duki road renamed after acid attack survivor Dr Ma…

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has announced that a major road in Duki district will be renamed after Dr Mahnoor Nasir, a female doctor who survived a severe acid attack earlier this year. The decision has been taken to honour Dr Mahnoor’s courage, resilience and dedication to her profession. The chief minister said her determination and commitment to duty had made her an example for women across Balochistan. Under the notification issued by the provincial government, Haji Amanullah Masjid Road near Damani Chowk in Duki will now be known as Dr Mahnoor Nasar Road. The new name will take effect immediately. Dr Mahnoor, a 29-year-old doctor at Civil Hospital Quetta, was seriously injured in an acid attack in June. She suffered extensive burns to her face, chest, legs and other parts of her body. According to police, the alleged attacker was a hospital employee identified as Humayun Shah. Law enforcement officials later traced him while he was attempting to escape on a bus. Police said he was killed during an encounter. Chief Minister Bugti praised Dr Mahnoor for continuing to demonstrate courage despite the severe injuries she suffered. He said recognising citizens who show bravery and remain committed to their responsibilities was a duty of the government. The acid attack triggered strong condemnation across Balochistan. Members of the medical community, government officials and other sections of society called for strict action against those responsible. Doctors in Quetta also staged a strike following the incident. They demanded a transparent investigation and stronger measures to ensure the safety of medical professionals, particularly women working in hospitals. The case also came amid wider legal and social concern over acid attacks in Pakistan. In a significant ruling issued days after the incident, the Supreme Court described acid violence, or vitriolage, as a particularly heinous offence and said its gravity could exceed that of homicide. The renaming of the road is being presented by the Balochistan government as a public tribute to Dr Mahnoor’s resilience. Officials said the initiative is also intended to highlight the importance of recognising women who continue to serve their communities despite facing serious challenges.

Five killed in tragic Car crash on Lahore’s cana…

LAHORE: Five people were killed and another was injured in a tragic road accident on Lahore’s Canal Road after a speeding car reportedly went out of control and struck two pedestrians before crashing into a utility pole and a tree. According to Rescue 1122, the accident occurred on Canal Road near Harbanspura in Lahore. The incident claimed the lives of three young people travelling in the car as well as two pedestrians who were walking along the roadside. According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the car was allegedly performing drifting on the road when he lost control of the vehicle. The car reportedly mounted the footpath alongside the canal and struck two young pedestrians. It then continued moving before crashing into an electricity pole and a tree. The impact of the collision was severe, resulting in multiple fatalities. Three occupants of the vehicle died at the scene, while two pedestrians also lost their lives as a result of being hit by the speeding car. An 11-year-old boy who was travelling in the car was injured in the accident. Rescue teams reached the site after receiving information about the crash and began rescue and emergency operations. The injured child was shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. According to information available after the incident, the four people travelling in the car were cousins. The victims were reportedly young, with the ages of those who died ranging between 15 and 18 years. A report regarding the circumstances before the accident stated that the four boys had allegedly left their home around 6am while their family members were still asleep. They reportedly took the car and went out, after which the fatal accident occurred on Canal Road. The incident has raised concerns about dangerous driving and the risks associated with speeding and performing stunts on public roads. Drifting, particularly at high speed and on busy roads, can result in a driver losing control of a vehicle within seconds. The consequences can be devastating not only for the occupants of the vehicle but also for pedestrians and other road users. Canal Road is an important route in Lahore and carries significant traffic throughout the day. Although the accident occurred early in the morning, the presence of pedestrians near the roadside made the situation particularly dangerous. The deaths of the young people have caused grief among their families and relatives. The fact that the victims were reportedly teenagers has added to the tragedy, while the two pedestrians who were also killed became unintended victims of the alleged reckless driving. Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances of the crash, including the speed of the vehicle and the eyewitness claims that the driver had been performing drifting before losing control. Investigators may also examine the vehicle and the accident site to determine the exact sequence of events. The accident once again highlights the importance of responsible driving, particularly among young drivers. Speeding, reckless manoeuvres and driving without adequate experience can have fatal consequences. The incident serves as a tragic reminder that public roads are shared spaces and that reckless behaviour behind the wheel can put the lives of innocent pedestrians and passengers at serious risk. Families and road safety authorities have repeatedly urged young people to avoid dangerous driving practices and follow traffic regulations. Further details regarding the investigation and the condition of the injured 11-year-old are expected as authorities continue to assess the incident.

KP rejects Rs6.4bn proposed cut in federal transfe…

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has rejected a proposed deduction of Rs6.4 billion from the province’s federal financial transfers. Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said the federal government had sought an additional amount from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa before the provincial budget. The provincial government had linked the release of the additional funds to a meeting with PTI founder Imran Khan and his approval. Afridi said the KP government neither approved nor agreed to the proposed deduction of Rs6.4 billion. He said the additional federal grant had also not been included in the provincial budget for the 2026-27 financial year. The chief minister said the matter was not merely a political dispute but concerned the province’s constitutional and financial rights. He maintained that Article 164 of the Constitution does not give the federal government the authority to unilaterally deduct money payable to a province. According to Afridi, any such deduction requires a clear constitutional or legal basis as well as the consent of the provincial government. He said the Finance Department had clearly conveyed its disagreement with the proposed deduction in a letter issued on August 13. Written instructions were also issued that no deduction should be made without the province’s consent. Afridi said Finance Adviser Muzammil Aslam immediately met the relevant officials of the Accountant General KP. The Accountant General of Pakistan Revenues was also directed not to record or implement any transaction without the clear consent of the provincial government. The chief minister said the provincial government had decided to prepare a summary and ordinance under the 7th National Finance Commission (NFC) after the province did not receive its share for six months. He said the provincial government did not sign the memorandum of understanding concerning the additional amount because a meeting with the PTI founder was not arranged. Afridi said the KP government had already approached the Federal Constitutional Court to seek its constitutional rights under the National Finance Commission. He made it clear that the provincial government would not compromise on its NFC rights. The chief minister further said the federal government had no authority to unilaterally deduct money on the basis of an unapproved memorandum of understanding. He vowed that the provincial government would use every legal and constitutional avenue to protect its rights and defend every rupee of its financial share. Afridi also said that if the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) achieved its Rs15.26 trillion tax collection target, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s share would amount to approximately Rs175 billion. He added that providing the merged districts with their rightful share under the 11th NFC was also one of the provincial government’s conditions.
