Mathira reveals age and cosmetic procedures she has undergone

Pakistani television host and actress Mathira has candidly spoken about her age, cosmetic procedures, and her views on ageing during a recent appearance on Inqilaab Voice’s podcast The Hot Seat. Known for her outspoken personality, the television star shared personal details while addressing beauty standards, self-confidence, and life in the public eye.
Mathira has established herself as a prominent television personality through hosting, acting, and her active presence on social media. With more than 2.6 million Instagram followers, she has appeared in projects including Chaal, Quddusi Sahab Ki Bewa, Nagan, Dil Ke Rung Hazar, 21 MM Show, and Raasta. She is also recognised as a single mother raising three sons while balancing her career.
During the podcast, Mathira honestly revealed her age while dismissing society’s obsession with youth and appearance.
She said, “I will be honest, I am 34. I think I am a thick woman, and I can still turn heads. Youth is a part of your life; no one can live forever young. To be famous is written in your fate; not everyone becomes famous.”
Speaking about her journey in the entertainment industry, Mathira emphasised that she built her career on her own.
“Who launched me and gave me fame? No one, I am self-made. I am not worried about my future and youth. I’m a public person who loves private life, and I’m not worried about weight shaming,” she said.
The actress also addressed rumours surrounding cosmetic procedures and openly admitted to having undergone several treatments over the years. She explained that her nose surgery was not done for cosmetic reasons alone but was necessary after an accident.
“I did get a nose job, that’s for sure, because of my accident my bone got slanted or disfigured. I got it done in Turkey,” Mathira revealed.
She further acknowledged that she occasionally opts for non-surgical cosmetic treatments.
“Yes, I do get a bit of fillers or Botox. I did get a bit of liposuction 15 years ago,” she shared.
Mathira also challenged the stigma surrounding ageing, particularly the pressure placed on women to remain young. According to her, society often unfairly judges women based on their age while celebrating youth as the only standard of beauty.
Expressing her views, she said, “A woman doesn’t get old that easily. Have you seen Shakira, how well is she doing? We have stereotyped women, saying women ageing or ‘Umer dhalna’ is a very disgraceful thing.”
Her remarks resonated with many viewers, as she encouraged women to embrace every stage of life instead of feeling pressured by unrealistic beauty standards. Throughout the conversation, Mathira maintained that confidence, self-acceptance, and individuality matter far more than age, adding that she has never allowed criticism over her appearance or body to affect her outlook on life.

Supreme Court upholds death sentence in woman’s …

The Supreme Court has issued a landmark ruling concerning women’s rights, declaring that a woman’s right to seek khula (judicial divorce) is a constitutional right and that violence against a woman exercising this right amounts to an attack on the Constitution. A three-member bench of the Supreme Court dismissed the jail petition filed by convict Waseem Abbas and upheld his death sentence. Justice Muhammad Hashim Khan Kakar authored the four-page detailed judgment. According to the judgment, women are fully protected under Articles 9, 14 and 25 of the Constitution, which guarantee their security, dignity and equal rights. The court said that anyone who uses violence against a woman seeking khula would face the full force of the law. It observed that killing a woman for exercising her legal right is an act of brutality and open defiance of the law. The Supreme Court further ruled that a convict involved in a cold-blooded and planned murder does not deserve any concession. The judgment also clarified that the testimony of relatives cannot automatically be rejected in cases involving crimes committed within the privacy of a home. The court said forensic evidence recovered from the crime scene provided conclusive evidence against the accused. The forensic examination established a match between the recovered bullet casings and the pistol linked to the crime. The Supreme Court found no legal or factual flaw in the decisions of the lower courts and upheld the death sentence awarded to Waseem Abbas. According to the case record, Waseem Abbas shot and killed his former wife, Shehnaz Bibi, on October 11, 2020. She had obtained a legal khula decree from a family court before the incident. The convict allegedly entered the woman’s home and killed her around 48 hours after she obtained the decree. A trial court subsequently sentenced Abbas to death and awarded him 10 years in prison. The Lahore High Court later upheld the death sentence.

George and Amal Clooney evacuate beloved French ho…

George and Amal Clooney have been forced to leave their picturesque home in southeastern France after fast-moving wildfires swept through the region, placing thousands of residents at risk. The Hollywood couple, who live in Brignoles with their nine-year-old twins, Ella and Alexander, confirmed their evacuation as emergency crews battled the devastating blazes.  The Clooneys revealed the news in a heartfelt letter addressed to Brignoles Mayor Didier Brémond. In the message, the couple admitted they had no way of knowing whether their cherished home would survive the disaster. Despite the uncertainty, they expressed hope for the safety of their neighbors and pledged to stand by the local community during the recovery effort.  “At this point we have no idea whether our beautiful home makes it through this terrible moment,” the couple wrote. They also stressed that, regardless of what happens to their property, they remain committed to helping Brignoles rebuild. “We love Brignoles and our friends who live there,” the letter added.  The wildfires have spread rapidly across several parts of southern Europe, including France, Spain, Italy and Greece, fueled by extreme heat and dry weather. French authorities have carried out thousands of evacuations as firefighters continue working around the clock to contain the flames. Reports indicate that some of the fires have grown to cover an area several times larger than Paris, highlighting the scale of the crisis.  George and Amal made France their primary family home in recent years, choosing the quieter lifestyle of Brignoles over the constant attention of Hollywood. The couple has previously spoken about wanting their children to enjoy a more private upbringing, away from the spotlight. George has often described life in the French countryside as peaceful and ideal for family life.  Although the family has temporarily left the area, their message made it clear that they remain emotionally connected to the town they now call home. Their promise to help with recovery efforts has been widely praised by local residents and supporters, who have applauded the couple’s commitment during a difficult time.  As firefighters continue battling the blazes, the fate of the Clooneys’ home remains uncertain. However, the couple’s focus appears to be on the safety of their community rather than their own property. Their response serves as a reminder that natural disasters affect everyone, regardless of fame, while also highlighting the importance of standing together in times of crisis.

Renowned mountaineer Nirmal Purja among 10 killed …

British Nepali mountaineer Nirmal Purja has died along with nine other climbers in an avalanche on Broad Peak in Pakistan, according to his expedition company. Elite Expeditions confirmed the death of the 43 year old climber on social media, saying the news came with profound sadness and heartbreak following Thursday’s avalanche. Purja, who was born in Nepal and later served in the British army, had earned global recognition for climbing the world’s 14 highest peaks in just over six months in 2019. Pakistani officials had earlier reported the recovery of the bodies of three other climbers from the same expedition, identified as American Mallory Geis, Nadhira Ahmed Abdullah Al Harthy from Oman and Pur Bahadur Gurung from Nepal. Nepal’s Prime Minister Balendra Shah also confirmed Purja’s death, saying the loss of six Nepali climbers and four foreign climbers, including world record holder Purja, in Pakistan’s Karakoram range had shocked the nation. Shah said the climbers’ courage and contributions would continue to inspire others. Naila Kiani, a spokesperson for the Alpine Club of Pakistan, which is coordinating rescue operations, told a British broadcaster that Purja had led numerous expeditions she had personally taken part in and described him as an extremely experienced and fearless climber with strong leadership skills. Kiani said the Alpine Club would only formally confirm his death once his body has been recovered, though she acknowledged rescuers fear all members of the group have died. She said search teams have spotted some bodies but have not yet been able to reach them. Rescue teams in Pakistan have been searching for the missing climbers on the world’s 12th highest peak following the avalanche, which struck the 8,047 meter summit in the Karakoram mountain range. Purja was leading the multinational climbing group at the time. Also known as Nims, Purja rose to international fame in 2019 after climbing all 14 of the world’s peaks above 8,000 meters in 189 days, breaking the previous record by more than seven years. His achievement later became the subject of a Netflix documentary titled 14 Peaks: Nothing Is Impossible. At the time of his historic climb, he described the effort as grueling but humbling, and said he hoped to show that determination, self belief and positivity could make anything possible. Purja served in the British military for 16 years, including a decade in the special forces, and received an MBE from the late Queen in 2018 in recognition of his extreme high altitude mountaineering achievements. He lived in Hampshire in southern England with his wife and three year old daughter, and was also known as the first Gurkha soldier to climb Everest while still serving in the British military. In his final social media post, shared on Monday, Purja wrote that he had not originally planned to climb Broad Peak. He said his trip had initially been focused solely on Gasherbrum II, another peak in the Karakoram range, but that he realized shortly before departing for Pakistan that summiting Broad Peak as well would leave him needing just one more mountain to become the first person in history to climb all 14 peaks above 8,000 meters twice without supplemental oxygen. He described the added goal as something that emerged unexpectedly rather than as part of a plan, writing that opportunities tend to present themselves quietly to those already putting in the work. He added that he was asking Broad Peak for nothing more than safe passage up and back down, saying he never took any mountain for granted. Broad Peak is widely regarded as one of the more difficult peaks for climbers to summit. The mountain was first successfully climbed in 1957 by an Austrian expedition, and while many climbers have reached its summit since then, dozens have died attempting the ascent. One of its deadliest recorded years was 2013, when at least six climbers lost their lives on the mountain.

Shubman Gill’s sister Shahneel Gill joins The Traitors season 2

The Traitors Season 2 is all set to begin, with excitement building among fans following the official introduction of this season’s contestants at a special event held on July 30. The reality show, known for its intense strategy, deception, and mind games, is returning with a fresh lineup of participants from different backgrounds, promising viewers another season filled with drama and suspense. Among the contestants is Shahneel Gill, a familiar name to cricket fans because of her connection to Indian cricket star Shubman Gill. Although Shahneel has often been seen cheering for and supporting her brother during his cricketing journey, she is now stepping into the spotlight to create an identity of her own. By participating in The Traitors Season 2, she is looking to establish herself beyond being known as the sister of one of India’s leading cricketers. Shahneel has gained a considerable following on social media over the years, where she is admired for her fashion sense, lifestyle content, and close bond with her family. Her public appearances at cricket matches and supportive posts for Shubman Gill have made her a recognizable personality among cricket enthusiasts. However, The Traitors will present a completely different challenge, requiring contestants to rely on intelligence, strategy, communication skills, and psychological gameplay rather than popularity alone. The reality series is based on trust and betrayal, with contestants working together while secretly trying to identify the “traitors” hidden among them. Participants must form alliances, make difficult decisions, and survive elimination rounds, making the show one of the most engaging reality formats in recent years. Shahneel’s participation is expected to attract both reality TV fans and cricket followers, who are eager to see how she performs in such a competitive environment. This also marks the second time this year that a member of an Indian cricketer’s family has entered a major reality television show. Earlier this year, Shresta Iyer, the sister of Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer, participated in the second season of Netflix’s reality show Lock Upp. Her appearance drew significant attention from cricket fans and entertainment audiences alike, highlighting the growing crossover between the worlds of sports and television entertainment. The increasing presence of cricketers’ family members in reality shows reflects a broader trend in the entertainment industry. While these personalities may initially gain recognition because of their famous relatives, such platforms provide them with an opportunity to showcase their own personalities, talents, and individuality. Reality television allows contestants to connect directly with audiences, helping them build independent careers and public identities. With a diverse cast and fresh faces, The Traitors Season 2 is expected to deliver plenty of excitement, unexpected twists, and memorable moments. Shahneel Gill’s inclusion has already generated considerable buzz, and viewers will be watching closely to see whether she can successfully navigate the game’s challenges and emerge as one of the standout contestants of the season.

Germany faces ICJ hearing over Nicaragua’s Gaza …

THE HAGUE: The International Court of Justice (ICJ), the United Nations’ highest judicial body, has announced that it will hold public hearings in September to examine Germany’s preliminary objections in a case filed by Nicaragua over alleged violations of international law related to the occupied Palestinian territory, particularly the Gaza Strip. According to an official statement issued by the court, the hearings will take place from September 7 to September 10 at the Peace Palace in The Hague. The proceedings will focus solely on Germany’s objections to the court’s jurisdiction and the admissibility of parts of Nicaragua’s legal claims before the case can move forward on its merits. Nicaragua initiated the case on March 1, 2024, accusing Germany of breaching its obligations under the Genocide Convention, the 1949 Geneva Conventions, their Additional Protocols and other principles of international humanitarian law. The Central American nation argues that Germany has failed in its duty to help prevent genocide by continuing political, financial and military support for Israel during the conflict in Gaza. Nicaragua also claims Germany’s decision to suspend funding for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) contributed to worsening the humanitarian situation. According to Nicaragua, the ongoing conflict, which began in October 2023, has created what it describes as a recognized risk of genocide against the Palestinian population in Gaza, making all states party to the Genocide Convention responsible for taking preventive measures. Germany formally challenged the case on October 21, 2025, filing preliminary objections that argue the ICJ does not have jurisdiction to hear the dispute. Berlin also contends that several of Nicaragua’s claims are legally inadmissible. Under ICJ procedures, consideration of the main case has been suspended until the court decides whether it has the authority to proceed. The hearing schedule provides Germany with the first opportunity to present oral arguments on September 7, followed by Nicaragua on September 8. Germany will return for a second round on September 9, while Nicaragua will deliver its final submissions on September 10. The case is being closely watched by governments, legal experts and international human rights organizations, as the court’s eventual ruling on jurisdiction could determine whether one of the most closely followed legal disputes arising from the Gaza conflict proceeds to a full hearing on its merits.

Messi returns as Inter Miami held to draw

Lionel Messi made his long-awaited return for Inter Miami on Saturday after an extended break following the FIFA World Cup, helping his side earn a 2-2 draw against Columbus Crew in Major League Soccer (MLS). The Argentine captain featured for the first time since the World Cup final, coming off the bench in the second half. Although he created several dangerous moments and came close to scoring, he was unable to find the net in his comeback appearance. The match was delayed by 40 minutes due to bad weather before Inter Miami made a bright start. Veteran striker Luis Suarez opened the scoring in the 16th minute, continuing his impressive run of form with his seventh goal in four matches. Columbus Crew restored parity in the 34th minute after an own goal by Casemiro. However, Inter Miami regained the lead before halftime when Suarez provided a precise assist for Noah Allen, who headed the ball into the net. The visitors refused to give up and found the equaliser late in the match. Midfielder Brais Mendez, making his debut for Columbus Crew after joining from Spanish club Real Sociedad, curled home a free kick in the 84th minute to secure a share of the points. The draw brought an end to Inter Miami’s six-match winning streak, though the club remained second in the MLS Eastern Conference standings. In another MLS fixture, Polish striker Robert Lewandowski delivered a memorable performance in his first home appearance for Chicago Fire. The veteran forward scored twice to inspire his team to a 2-1 victory over Charlotte FC. Lewandowski netted his first goal for Chicago to cancel out Charlotte’s early lead before scoring again moments later. He completed his brace in the second half, helping Chicago register its first league win since the World Cup break. Messi’s return and Lewandowski’s impressive display added fresh excitement to the MLS season as several international stars resumed club action following the conclusion of the World Cup.
