KETI BUNDER: More than 300 patients benefited from free healthcare services during a one-day medical camp organized at the Town Committee Gharobari in Taluka Keti Bunder, District Thatta. The camp focused on the diagnosis and treatment of oral diseases, hepatitis screening, and general health consultations, aiming to improve access to quality healthcare for residents of the area.

The medical camp was held under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Gharobari Sorath Mazhar Abro, Mukhtiarkar Gharobari Maqsood Ahmed Jokhio, and Chairman Town Committee Gharobari Muhammad Ramzan Panhwar. Local residents, including women, children, and elderly patients, attended the camp in large numbers and received free medical examinations, medicines, and professional consultations.

A team of experienced healthcare professionals, led by renowned dental surgeon Dr. Shyam Kumar of Civil Hospital Makli and Dr. Mehran Abro, conducted detailed examinations and provided treatment for various oral and dental diseases. Patients were also screened for hepatitis, while doctors educated them about preventive measures, personal hygiene, and the importance of early diagnosis and timely treatment.

District Health Officer (DHO) Thatta, Syed Safdar Shah, visited the camp to review the arrangements and interact with the medical staff. He appreciated the dedicated efforts of the doctors, paramedics, and organizers in delivering quality healthcare services to the local community. Speaking on the occasion, he said that free medical camps are essential for improving public health, particularly in remote and underserved areas, as they provide timely medical assistance and create awareness about disease prevention.

Residents expressed gratitude to the district administration and health department for organizing the camp and hoped that similar healthcare initiatives would continue regularly to benefit people living in rural areas of Thatta.

The PTI chief also criticised major political parties, accusing them of politicising the post-election situation instead of focusing on the concerns of the people. According to Gohar, the low voter turnout reflected growing public dissatisfaction with the existing political system. He further claimed that the election results had failed to inspire public confidence and urged all stakeholders to prioritise transparency, accountability and democratic values. Calling for an impartial inquiry, PTI demanded that those responsible for the reported killings and use of force be identified and held accountable. Party leaders said an independent investigation was necessary to establish the facts, ensure justice for affected families and restore public trust in democratic institutions. The party concluded by urging authorities to avoid further escalation and resolve political disputes through dialogue, warning that prolonged instability in AJK could undermine both democratic credibility and Pakistan’s longstanding position on the Kashmir issue.

    PML-N eyes two-thirds majority in AJK

    Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah has expressed confidence that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will form the next government in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) with a two-thirds majority. Addressing an election rally in Bagh on Saturday, Sanaullah urged voters to turn out in large numbers for Monday’s polling in Bagh and Haveli. He said the PML-N had won 24 seats in the first two phases and needed six more seats to secure a two-thirds majority. Sanaullah predicted that the party would win four additional seats in the August 10 elections in Bagh and Haveli, while securing another five seats when polling takes place later in the remaining constituencies of Poonch Division. He said AJK voters had placed their trust in the PML-N, its leader Nawaz Sharif and the party’s development record in Punjab. The third phase was initially planned for all 11 constituencies of Poonch Division. However, authorities revised the schedule due to law and order concerns. Polling on August 10 will now take place only in Bagh and Haveli, with elections in the remaining constituencies to follow later. Sanaullah also promised that a future PML-N government would focus on development projects across AJK. He further said the government would hold talks with representatives of the proscribed Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), which has been protesting across the region and demanding the removal of 12 seats in the AJK legislature reserved for refugees from Indian-administered Kashmir. Sanaullah said resolving the JAAC’s concerns would be among the new government’s priorities if the PML-N secures a two-thirds majority.
