Andrew Garfield heaps praise on Tom Holland’s Sp…

Andrew Garfield has made it clear that there is nothing but admiration between the actors who have worn Spider-Man’s famous red-and-blue suit.

The Amazing Spider-Man star recently opened up about Tom Holland’s portrayal of the beloved Marvel superhero, describing him as an “incredible actor” and expressing genuine excitement for Holland’s continued success as Peter Parker.

Speaking during a promotional appearance for his latest film, Garfield was asked about Holland’s time as Spider-Man. Rather than comparing their performances, the Oscar-nominated actor focused on praising his successor, saying, “I love him,” while applauding Holland’s talent and dedication to the role. Garfield also said he is looking forward to seeing Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the latest installment in Holland’s Marvel journey.

Garfield portrayed Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) and its 2014 sequel before passing the torch to Holland, who officially joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2016. Although each actor has brought a different interpretation to the web-slinging hero, Garfield believes the character is in safe hands.

Calling Holland an “incredible actor,” Garfield praised the emotional depth and energy he brings to Spider-Man. His comments reflect the respect that has long existed between the two stars, both on and off screen.

The pair famously shared the screen alongside Tobey Maguire in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, a film that united three generations of Spider-Man for the first time. Garfield previously described the experience as one of the most joyful moments of his career, saying it felt like celebrating the character’s enduring legacy rather than competing over it. During his latest interview, he joked that while he was simply enjoying the ride, Holland had the difficult task of carrying the film’s emotional weight.

Garfield’s supportive remarks come as excitement builds around Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which marks Holland’s latest outing as the iconic superhero. Fans have also continued to speculate about whether Garfield could one day return to the Marvel universe, though the actor has remained playful and noncommittal whenever asked about future appearances.

For Spider-Man fans, Garfield’s latest comments are another reminder that there is no rivalry between the actors behind the mask. Instead, there is mutual respect and appreciation for the responsibility of portraying one of the world’s most beloved superheroes.

As Holland continues to lead the franchise, Garfield says he will be cheering him on—proof that once you’re part of the Spider-Man family, the bond never really disappears.

Atif Aslam reflects on decade-long India music ban

Pakistani singer Atif Aslam has spoken about his decade-long absence from the Indian music industry, reflecting on the ban imposed on Pakistani artistes following the 2016 Uri attack. In an interview with Kris Fade on his YouTube channel, the 43-year-old singer discussed how the restrictions affected his professional relationship with India and his millions of fans there. Atif said it had been almost 10 years since he was banned from working in India, explaining that the decision was made by the Indian government. He also pointed out that Indian artistes have faced similar restrictions in Pakistan, describing the situation as something beyond the control of individual musicians. Atif revealed that he has not recorded a song for the Indian market during the past decade. Despite the ban, however, he said his music continues to reach Indian listeners through different means. According to the singer, some fans use VPNs to access his music, while others share his songs through CDs. Although he made it clear that he does not support piracy, Atif said music ultimately finds its way to audiences who want to listen to it. Addressing his Indian fans directly, the singer delivered an emotional message and assured them that he has not forgotten them. He said he does not necessarily miss working in India but genuinely misses the people who supported his music throughout the years. Atif also reflected on how the ban unexpectedly influenced his artistic journey. He explained that his experience with playback singing had taught him a great deal, but the absence of opportunities in India pushed him to focus more deeply on creating his own music. Rather than viewing the ban entirely negatively, Atif said the situation gave him an opportunity to explore himself creatively. He expressed gratitude to his supporters as well as those responsible for the restrictions, suggesting that the circumstances ultimately encouraged him to develop a different side of his musical identity. The restrictions on Pakistani artistes in India began in the aftermath of the September 2016 Uri attack. The Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association subsequently called on its members to stop working with Pakistani artistes. Restrictions became even stronger following the 2019 Pulwama attack, when the All India Cine Workers Association announced a complete ban on Pakistani actors working in Indian cinema. Despite being unable to work in India for years, Atif has remained one of the most popular Pakistani singers among Indian audiences. His connection with Indian music lovers dates back to his breakthrough with “Aadat,” which featured in the 2005 Bollywood film Kalyug. He later became known for several successful Bollywood songs, including “Tera Hone Laga Hoon,” “Tere Sang Yaara” and other popular tracks that strengthened his position as one of the region’s most recognised playback singers. Atif’s latest comments highlight the lasting connection between his music and Indian listeners, even after years of political and industry-level restrictions.

Powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake hits western Colombia, killing at least 111

A powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia on Monday, killing at least 111 people and injuring dozens more in what authorities have confirmed is the country’s strongest earthquake of the 21st century. The massive tremor struck at a depth of 107 kilometres, with its epicentre located near Chocó. Despite occurring deep beneath the Earth’s crust, the intense seismic shock waves triggered widespread destruction across densely populated urban valleys throughout western Colombia and the primary coffee-growing regions. In Pereira, a four-story building collapsed into rubble, while video footage from Manizales captured the catastrophic collapse of one of the side towers of the city’s historic neo-Gothic cathedral. Severe building collapses and casualties were also reported in Cali, where local residents formed human chains alongside emergency responders to shovel away fallen concrete and pull survivors from trapped spaces. Thrusting the administration into its first major crisis just days after his inauguration, President Abelardo De La Espriella declared a national state of emergency. In a live television address, De La Espriella announced that all available state and military resources were being deployed to western Colombia, confirming that the national government’s immediate priority remains the location and rescue of victims trapped beneath collapsed structures. Severe regional communications outages initially delayed casualty reporting from rural zones near the epicentre in Chocó, where Governor Nubia Carolina Córdoba confirmed at least 12 fatalities and scores of injuries. Meanwhile, Colombia’s civil aviation authority halted flight operations across key regional airports, including facilities in Pereira, Manizales, Quibdó, Armenia, Cartago, and Buenaventura, while structural engineers assess airfield and terminal safety. The Colombian Geological Service recorded over 20 aftershocks following the initial quake and warned that additional tremors remain likely. Sitting directly along the seismically active Pacific Ring of Fire, western Colombia previously suffered a devastating magnitude 6.2 earthquake in 1999 that claimed more than 1,000 lives across the same region.

Alzarri Joseph hits back at Daren Sammy over selection row

West Indies pacer Alzarri Joseph has responded sharply to comments made by head coach Daren Sammy. The issue stems from his exclusion from the Test squad for the ongoing series against Pakistan. Joseph did not make the cut for the series. Cricket West Indies had initially explained his absence, citing personal reasons. Later, Sammy offered a different version. He said the pacer had declined the chance to play. Speaking to a Caribbean news outlet, Joseph addressed Sammy’s remarks directly. He said he had already spoken with both Sammy and Cricket West Indies about the matter. He pointed out that the official statement clearly mentioned personal reasons. Given Sammy’s long experience in the game, Joseph said the coach would have known exactly how his comments might land publicly. He added that he had nothing more to say on the issue. The 29-year-old then turned to his fitness struggles. He explained that he has been out of action for a full year. This followed a second stress fracture, which kept him away from international cricket at full intensity for a long stretch. Joseph called Sammy’s remarks controversial. He argued that his body simply was not ready for the physical demands of a Test series. He recalled recent conversations about his workload. This included playing two Test matches alongside five back-to-back ODIs against New Zealand earlier this month. He said he personally knew his body needed time before taking on another long format series. Without proper context, he felt the statement gave an incomplete picture of the situation. Despite the disagreement, Joseph made his priorities clear. He said his focus remains firmly on his job. He is representing the West Indies, not any individual, including the head coach. He added that he is not there to build friendships. His only goal, he said, is to work hard and represent the people of the West Indies. On the field, West Indies currently lead the two-match Test series 1-0. A win in the second Test would give them their first series victory over Pakistan since 2000. This adds even more weight to a contest that has already stirred plenty of conversation off the field. As the series heads toward its conclusion, all attention now shifts to how this selection controversy might shape team dynamics going forward, both on and off the pitch.

According to police, the woman was scheduled to travel to the United Arab Emirates on a private airline under a family visit visa. She was stopped during the immigration process for further verification of her travel documents. Officials said the passenger was travelling on a paper-based visa, for which the airline was required to obtain an OK-to-Board (OKTB) verification before allowing her to travel. The airline staff reportedly took her boarding pass for the required verification process. According to the First Information Report (FIR), the passenger allegedly misbehaved with immigration officials and resisted their instructions during the process. The FIR further alleges that she attempted to take back her passport and other documents from the immigration staff and issued threats to officials. Police said the passenger was offloaded from the flight because of her alleged non-cooperation and resistance during the immigration procedure.
