Ian McKellen surprised Anthony Mackie played Captain America

Anthony Mackie has shared a lighthearted behind-the-scenes story from the set of Avengers: Doomsday, revealing that veteran actor Sir Ian McKellen did not realize he was playing Captain America when the two first met.

While speaking during San Diego Comic-Con, Mackie recalled his first interaction with the legendary actor, describing it as one of the most memorable moments of filming.

According to Mackie, he introduced himself to McKellen with admiration, telling the acclaimed actor how honored he was to work alongside him. McKellen greeted him warmly before asking a simple question about his role in the upcoming Marvel film.

Mackie said McKellen asked, “So what are you doing in the film?” to which he replied, “I’m Captain America.”

The exchange left Mackie amused, especially considering his character has been the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Captain America for several years.

Sam Wilson, portrayed by Mackie, officially became Captain America after Steve Rogers, played by Chris Evans, passed him the iconic shield at the end of Avengers: Endgame. Since then, Wilson has embraced the mantle, taking on the responsibility of leading a new generation of heroes while forging his own identity as Captain America.

Despite now being one of Marvel’s leading stars, Mackie admitted that he still feels starstruck when working with legendary actors. He said sharing the screen with performers like Ian McKellen remains a surreal experience, regardless of his own success within the franchise.

McKellen is returning as Magneto, reprising one of the most iconic roles from the X-Men film series. His appearance in Avengers: Doomsday is part of Marvel Studios’ ambitious plan to bring together characters from multiple superhero franchises for the first time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The upcoming blockbuster is expected to feature heroes from the Avengers, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four, creating one of the largest ensemble casts ever assembled for a Marvel film. The crossover has generated significant excitement among fans, who have long hoped to see these iconic teams share the screen.

Marvel Studios has gradually expanded its interconnected universe through the multiverse storyline, paving the way for the return of several fan-favorite characters and actors from earlier superhero films. Avengers: Doomsday is expected to play a major role in that ongoing narrative while setting the stage for future Marvel projects.

Mackie’s humorous encounter with McKellen has quickly become a fan-favorite story, highlighting the friendly atmosphere behind the scenes despite the film’s massive scale and star-studded cast. The anecdote also reflects the mutual respect shared between established Hollywood legends and the newer generation of Marvel stars.

Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on December 18, with fans eagerly awaiting the epic crossover that promises to unite some of Marvel’s most beloved superheroes and villains on the big screen.

Indian technology provided to Afghan Taliban repor…

Security experts have claimed that technology allegedly provided by India to the Afghan Taliban for use against Pakistan has also failed to achieve its intended purpose. According to a report, the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) are receiving what the report describes as full support from the Afghan Taliban regime, along with financial assistance from India. The report further claims that the groups are being supported through various means as part of activities directed against Pakistan. The report stated that the Afghan Taliban regime claimed to have carried out a drone attack against Pakistan in June 2026. However, according to the report, the drone was intercepted and destroyed in the air by Pakistan’s air defence system before it could reach its intended target. Security experts cited in the report said the drones allegedly used in the attack were supplied by India. They described the drones as relatively low-grade in terms of technology, with limited operational capabilities. According to the assessment, the systems lack the sophistication required to effectively penetrate Pakistan’s modern air defence network. The reported incident has once again drawn attention to the growing use of unmanned aerial vehicles, or drones, in regional security and military operations. Drones have increasingly become an important tool for surveillance, reconnaissance and attacks because of their relatively low operating costs and ability to operate without putting pilots at direct risk. However, experts say the effectiveness of a drone depends heavily on its technological capabilities, including its range, navigation system, communication links, payload capacity, electronic protection and ability to avoid detection. Less sophisticated drones can be vulnerable to modern radar and counter-drone technologies, particularly when they are detected at an early stage. According to the report, Pakistan has developed and deployed defence mechanisms capable of detecting and neutralising such aerial threats. The country’s air defence network is equipped to identify incoming objects and take appropriate measures to prevent them from reaching sensitive targets. The report claims that the destruction of the drone demonstrates the limitations of the technology allegedly supplied by India and highlights the challenges faced by armed groups attempting to use relatively unsophisticated unmanned systems against a country with established air defence capabilities. Security experts further maintained that the incident demonstrates the importance of advanced detection and interception systems in countering the increasing drone threat. As unmanned systems become more widely available, countries across the region are investing in technologies designed to detect, track and neutralise hostile drones. The report also linked the alleged use of Indian-supplied drones to broader security concerns involving militant groups operating in and around the region. It claimed that the TTP and BLA have benefited from support from the Afghan Taliban and financial assistance from India. These claims, however, remain allegations and would require independent verification. The reported June 2026 incident is likely to remain a subject of discussion among security analysts as Pakistan continues to strengthen its air defence and counter-drone capabilities. The episode also highlights the technological competition surrounding unmanned aerial systems and the growing importance of electronic and aerial defence measures. According to the report, Pakistan’s ability to detect and neutralise the drone before it could cause damage demonstrates that its existing defence mechanisms can pose a significant challenge to low-capability unmanned aerial systems.

Jersey Shore star Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi shar…

Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi is focusing on recovery after undergoing a hysterectomy as part of her treatment for stage 1 cervical cancer. The Jersey Shore star shared a heartfelt health update with fans after having surgery on Friday, revealing that while the procedure was successful, the recovery has been more difficult than she expected. Polizzi documented the experience on TikTok, giving followers an honest look at her journey from the hospital bed.  In the emotional video, the 38-year-old reality television personality thanked fans for their support while admitting she is still struggling physically and emotionally. Although she tried to stay positive, Polizzi said recovering from such a major operation has been challenging. She also shared a lighthearted moment by showing the meal she enjoyed after surgery—curly fries with ketchup—which brought a smile to many of her followers.  Polizzi first revealed her stage 1 cervical cancer diagnosis in February after receiving results from a cone biopsy. Doctors diagnosed her with adenocarcinoma, a form of cervical cancer, but assured her that it had been caught at an early stage. A subsequent PET scan showed no signs that the cancer had spread, leading doctors to recommend a hysterectomy to prevent future complications.  Before undergoing surgery, Polizzi admitted she was nervous about the procedure, calling it one of the scariest medical experiences she had ever faced. She explained that the operation would remove her uterus and cervix through an abdominal incision, making recovery more demanding than any surgery she had previously experienced.  Throughout her health journey, the mother of three has remained committed to raising awareness about cervical cancer and the importance of routine screenings. Polizzi revealed that she had experienced abnormal Pap smear results for several years before receiving her diagnosis, encouraging women not to delay regular checkups, even if the appointments feel uncomfortable or intimidating. She credits early detection with giving her the best possible chance for a full recovery.  Support has poured in from fans, family members and fellow Jersey Shore castmates, many of whom have praised Polizzi for openly sharing her experience. She has said that documenting her journey is her way of helping others feel less alone and encouraging more people to prioritize preventive healthcare.  Despite the difficult recovery, Polizzi remains optimistic about the future. She has assured followers that she is taking things one day at a time and focusing on healing. Her candid updates have transformed a deeply personal battle into an important conversation about early detection, women’s health and the power of sharing personal experiences to help others.
