Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi is focusing on recovery after undergoing a hysterectomy as part of her treatment for stage 1 cervical cancer.

The Jersey Shore star shared a heartfelt health update with fans after having surgery on Friday, revealing that while the procedure was successful, the recovery has been more difficult than she expected. Polizzi documented the experience on TikTok, giving followers an honest look at her journey from the hospital bed. 

In the emotional video, the 38-year-old reality television personality thanked fans for their support while admitting she is still struggling physically and emotionally. Although she tried to stay positive, Polizzi said recovering from such a major operation has been challenging. She also shared a lighthearted moment by showing the meal she enjoyed after surgery—curly fries with ketchup—which brought a smile to many of her followers. 

Polizzi first revealed her stage 1 cervical cancer diagnosis in February after receiving results from a cone biopsy. Doctors diagnosed her with adenocarcinoma, a form of cervical cancer, but assured her that it had been caught at an early stage. A subsequent PET scan showed no signs that the cancer had spread, leading doctors to recommend a hysterectomy to prevent future complications. 

Before undergoing surgery, Polizzi admitted she was nervous about the procedure, calling it one of the scariest medical experiences she had ever faced. She explained that the operation would remove her uterus and cervix through an abdominal incision, making recovery more demanding than any surgery she had previously experienced. 

Throughout her health journey, the mother of three has remained committed to raising awareness about cervical cancer and the importance of routine screenings. Polizzi revealed that she had experienced abnormal Pap smear results for several years before receiving her diagnosis, encouraging women not to delay regular checkups, even if the appointments feel uncomfortable or intimidating. She credits early detection with giving her the best possible chance for a full recovery. 

Support has poured in from fans, family members and fellow Jersey Shore castmates, many of whom have praised Polizzi for openly sharing her experience. She has said that documenting her journey is her way of helping others feel less alone and encouraging more people to prioritize preventive healthcare. 

Despite the difficult recovery, Polizzi remains optimistic about the future. She has assured followers that she is taking things one day at a time and focusing on healing. Her candid updates have transformed a deeply personal battle into an important conversation about early detection, women’s health and the power of sharing personal experiences to help others.

    The Young Doctors Federation has launched a strong campaign against the current postgraduate (PG) medical induction testing system, calling for an end to what it describes as unnecessary and repetitive examinations for doctors seeking admission to postgraduate training programmes. Dr Hassan Baloch, Convener of the Young Doctors Federation, said the federation had begun a vigorous movement against the postgraduate induction test, drawing a parallel with its previous efforts that led to the elimination of the National Licensing Examination (NLE). He said doctors already face multiple examinations during their medical education and professional careers, and forcing them to sit for several tests for the same postgraduate induction purpose creates an additional burden. He demanded a simpler and more transparent system based on merit. Dr Baloch proposed two possible alternatives. The authorities should either use FCPS Part-I or the Joint Centralized Admission Test (JCAT) as the basis for postgraduate induction, or introduce a single national postgraduate entrance examination for doctors across the country. He argued that conducting multiple examinations for the same objective wastes candidates’ time, increases financial pressure through repeated examination fees, and creates unnecessary complications for medical graduates competing for postgraduate training positions. The Young Doctors Federation also called for a unified and transparent induction mechanism that ensures equal opportunities for all eligible doctors. Dr Baloch pointed to the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT), which serves as a common entrance examination for undergraduate medical admissions, and India’s NEET-PG system as examples of centralized testing models. He stressed that Pakistan should also adopt a single, transparent and merit-based mechanism for postgraduate medical induction instead of requiring doctors to navigate multiple examinations and selection processes. The federation’s campaign seeks reforms in the postgraduate induction system and aims to push authorities toward a more streamlined process that reduces the burden on doctors while ensuring fair and merit-based admissions to postgraduate medical training.

Naqvi argued that if the country’s institutional framework had functioned effectively over the years, Pakistan would have been in a much stronger economic and administrative position today. He stressed that his comments should not be interpreted as criticism of the federal government, of which he is a member. Responding to questions about his own performance as interior minister, Naqvi said he is accountable to the prime minister and welcomes an objective assessment of every federal ministry. He suggested that the government publicly release the performance results of all ministries so citizens can evaluate how each department has performed. The interior minister also noted that he regularly attends official duties and said his attendance record stands at approximately 70 percent. He emphasized that transparency and accountability should apply across the federal cabinet. Praising Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Naqvi said the premier works between 14 and 16 hours a day and has continued to pursue reforms despite challenging circumstances. He credited the government with improving tax collection, strengthening Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement, and introducing reforms in several sectors. According to Naqvi, the prime minister could achieve even greater results if Pakistan’s governance system functioned more efficiently.       KARACHI: Gold prices in Pakistan continued their upward trend on Monday, with the price of gold per tola increasing by Rs2,000, according to the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association. Following the latest increase, the price of one tola of gold reached Rs461,936 in the domestic market. The latest rise comes amid an increase in international gold prices, which have also strengthened in the global market. According to the association, the price of 10 grams of gold increased by Rs1,715, bringing the rate to Rs396,035. The continued rise in gold prices is likely to keep the precious metal attractive for investors and buyers who traditionally consider gold a store of value during periods of economic uncertainty. In the international market, gold prices also recorded an increase. The price of gold rose by $20 per ounce to reach $4,395 per ounce. The latest movement in domestic gold prices reflects the influence of international bullion rates, while local market conditions and currency fluctuations can also affect the price of gold in Pakistan. Gold remains one of the most widely followed commodities in the country, particularly among investors, jewellery buyers and households that use the precious metal as a form of savings. Changes in gold prices can therefore have a direct impact on consumers, particularly those planning to purchase jewellery for weddings and other important occasions.     Israel says Hezbollah tunnel network destroyed in southern Lebanon

    Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Israel Katz announced that Israeli forces had destroyed what they described as a major Hezbollah tunnel network in southern Lebanon. According to a joint statement released on Friday, the underground tunnels in the Beaufort area were considered an important part of Hezbollah’s alleged plan to enter communities in northern Israel’s Galilee region. The Israeli government said the military used around 700 tons of explosives to demolish the tunnel system. Officials described the operation as part of Israel’s continuing efforts to eliminate Hezbollah’s military infrastructure in southern Lebanon. They claimed the action was necessary after accusing Hezbollah of violating the ceasefire agreement that had been reached between the two sides. Before the Israeli announcement, Lebanese media reported a series of powerful explosions across several locations in southern Lebanon. Blasts were heard in the town of Hadatha, around Deir Mimas near Beaufort Castle and in the area between Arnoun and Yahmar. Residents said the explosions echoed across nearby districts and caused widespread concern during the night. The military operation comes only weeks after Lebanon and Israel signed a United States backed framework agreement on June 26 aimed at reducing tensions along the border. The deal outlined a gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied Lebanese territory while the Lebanese army would expand its presence in the south and armed groups would be disarmed. Although Hezbollah was not named directly, the agreement was widely understood to include the group. As part of the first phase of the agreement, the Lebanese army began deploying forces in the town of Zawtar al Gharbiyeh on July 21 after Israeli troops pulled back from the area. The town was selected as one of the first locations for implementing the security arrangements outlined in the agreement. Despite the deal, tensions remain high. Israel continues to maintain a military presence in parts of southern Lebanon. Some of these areas have been occupied for decades while others have been under Israeli control since the conflict that took place during 2023 and 2024. Reports also indicate that Israeli forces recently advanced more than 10 kilometres into Lebanese territory during their latest operations. According to Lebanon’s Health Ministry, Israeli attacks carried out since March 2 have killed 4,333 people and injured more than 12,200 others. The figures reflect the heavy human cost of the ongoing conflict, which has continued despite diplomatic efforts to restore stability along the border. Lebanon’s National News Agency also reported that large explosions shook the southern regions of Yohmor al Chqif, Arnoun and Kfar Tebnit overnight. The blasts were so powerful that shockwaves were felt in towns far from the affected areas. In the Marjayoun district, explosions near Beaufort Castle reportedly shattered windows and damaged nearby homes in Qlayaa. Residents described strong vibrations and the smell of gunpowder spreading through the area after the blasts. The agency further reported that Israeli forces carried out heavy machine gun fire near al Mansouri and Biyout al Sayyad in the Tyre district while artillery shells struck al Mansouri. Tank movements were also reported near Baraachit hill heading towards Aainata in the Bint Jbeil district as military activity continued across southern Lebanon.
