Maryam Aurangzeb rejects PPP’s rigging claim…

Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) (PML-N) leader and Senior Minister of Punjab, Maryam Aurangzeb, strongly rejected allegations of election rigging made by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), questioning the credibility of such claims by pointing to the PPP’s own government in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

Speaking to the media in Rawalpindi, Maryam Aurangzeb said that the PPP’s accusations of electoral fraud were baseless and contradictory. Referring to PPP leader Nayyar Bukhari’s remarks, she said it was unreasonable to claim widespread rigging on the basis of only two ballot papers when the election involved thousands of votes. According to her, isolated incidents cannot be used to undermine the credibility of an entire electoral process.

She further argued that since the Pakistan Peoples Party is in power in Azad Kashmir, its allegations of election manipulation effectively amount to accusing its own administration of wrongdoing. “If you insist that rigging took place in Azad Kashmir, then you are accusing your own government of conducting fraudulent elections,” she remarked. Aurangzeb added that the people of both Punjab and Azad Kashmir had exercised their democratic right and chosen not to vote for the PPP, and that the party should accept the public verdict instead of making unfounded allegations.

Maryam Aurangzeb also criticized the timing of the PPP’s accusations, noting that claims of rigging were being made as soon as polling began. She argued that elections are won through the support of voters, not through repeated allegations. “You do not win elections by making accusations; you win them by earning the trust and votes of the people,” she said.

Addressing another issue, Aurangzeb questioned attempts to politicize a recent death, stating that the deceased had not died from gunfire. She asked whether political opponents now intended to use even such incidents for political gain, criticizing what she described as the exploitation of sensitive matters for electoral purposes.

Turning her attention to governance, Aurangzeb said the Pakistan Peoples Party should focus on improving its performance in Sindh, where it has governed for years. She argued that better governance would provide meaningful relief to the people of the province. Drawing an analogy, she said that if a student fails to prepare for an examination, they cannot simply lock the examination hall. In the same way, she suggested that political parties cannot blame the electoral process when they fail to secure public support.

Aurangzeb maintained that the Pakistan Muslim League (N) had earned the confidence of the electorate through its performance and public service. She expressed surprise that the PPP was repeatedly raising issues related to gunfire and election rigging, saying such rhetoric reflected an unwillingness to accept the democratic outcome.

She also referred to a speech delivered by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari the previous day, questioning the tone and substance of his remarks. According to Aurangzeb, the PPP should respect the will of the voters rather than challenging the legitimacy of the election without sufficient evidence.

Concluding her remarks, Maryam Aurangzeb emphasized that Pakistan’s electoral system provides legal mechanisms for addressing disputes. She said that if the PPP genuinely believes irregularities occurred, it should present its evidence before the Election Commission or the relevant election tribunals. Instead of complaining publicly, she urged the party to pursue the appropriate legal channels. She concluded by saying that the PPP’s own voters had rejected its narrative and that the party should contest elections through democratic means while respecting the mandate given by the people.

Magistrate launches inquiry into deaths of two gir…

LAHORE: A judicial magistrate has initiated an inquiry into the deaths of two underage girls who died while in police custody in Lahore on August 4. The inquiry was launched after the families of the deceased girls demanded an impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding their deaths. The girls were identified as Amina and Anmol. They had reportedly remained in police custody for more than two hours before emergency services were called to the Township police station. The circumstances leading to their deaths have not yet been fully established. Proceedings have been initiated under Section 176 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. The provision empowers a magistrate to examine deaths that occur in police custody or under other suspicious circumstances. The magistrate can record statements from relevant individuals during the inquiry. Witnesses may also be examined under oath. The law further allows the magistrate to order the exhumation of a body if a postmortem examination is considered necessary to determine the cause of death. The judicial proceedings are expected to focus on what happened while the two girls were being held at the police station. Authorities are likely to examine the circumstances surrounding their arrest, the period they spent in custody and the events that took place before Rescue 1122 was contacted. The timing of the emergency call has also become an important part of the inquiry. The families have sought clarity over the events inside the police station and called for the matter to be investigated independently. The deaths have raised concerns about the treatment of minors in police custody and the responsibility of officials overseeing detainees. The magistrate’s inquiry is expected to establish the sequence of events and determine whether any negligence or wrongdoing contributed to the deaths. Further action will depend on the findings of the judicial inquiry and other available evidence.

Samay Raina takes dig at Badshah with Honey Singh reference

A recent moment from India’s Got Latent Season 2 has caught the attention of social media users after comedian Samay Raina appeared to make a playful reference to the long-running feud between rappers Yo Yo Honey Singh and Badshah. The moment took place during the show’s second bonus episode, released on August 10, 2026. Following a contestant’s performance, Raina picked up the microphone and began singing a line associated with Honey Singh. The comedian started by singing, “Yo Yo Honey Singh ka fan hoon main,” before moving into lyrics that appeared to reference Honey Singh’s hit song Brown Rang. His spontaneous performance quickly became a talking point among viewers, with a short clip from the episode making its way across social media. The performance particularly caught attention because of its apparent connection to the past differences between Honey Singh and Badshah. One clip shared on X prompted users to discuss whether Raina was deliberately poking fun at the history between the two rappers or simply using the well-known song as part of the show’s comedy. Honey Singh and Badshah have been linked to one of the most discussed fallouts in India’s hip-hop scene. The two artists were previously members of the music collective Mafia Mundeer, alongside other prominent names from the Indian rap scene. However, their professional association eventually came to an end as both artists pursued separate careers. Their differences later became the subject of public discussions, particularly over songwriting, credits and creative contributions. Badshah had previously spoken about his involvement with Brown Rang, claiming that he had written the song’s lyrics. Honey Singh, meanwhile, remained closely associated with the track’s music and production. The disagreement between the rappers continued to attract attention for years, even as both artists achieved major success individually. Their comments about the past have occasionally brought the issue back into the spotlight. In 2024, Badshah spoke about moving on from the differences, indicating that he no longer wanted to remain focused on the past. Honey Singh later commented on the matter and questioned some aspects of the reported reconciliation. Discussions surrounding their relationship resurfaced again through public statements and social media conversations in 2025. Against this backdrop, Raina’s performance was quickly interpreted by some viewers as a tongue-in-cheek reference to the rappers’ history. Although the comedian did not explicitly explain the intention behind the moment, the combination of Honey Singh’s name and Brown Rang was enough to spark speculation and amusement online. India’s Got Latent Season 2 premiered on June 20, 2026, with regular episodes following a fortnightly release schedule. The show has continued to attract attention for its unpredictable performances, comedy segments and viral moments. The programme’s bonus episodes have followed a separate release format, with some content available to YouTube members. The second bonus episode added another memorable moment to the series, as Samay Raina’s Honey Singh reference quickly became a topic of conversation among fans.

Billy Strings reacts after fan throws object onstage

Billy Strings has opened up about a shocking moment during his recent concert in Indiana after a fan threw an object at him while he was performing on stage. The incident took place on Thursday, August 6, during one of the bluegrass musician’s sold-out shows in Fishers, Indiana. Strings was in the middle of addressing the audience when an object, reportedly believed to be a lighter, was thrown toward him and struck him on the head. The unexpected incident came just as the singer was expressing his excitement about being back in Indiana. Strings had previously been forced to postpone a performance, making the return particularly meaningful for him. “Thank you so much, I’m so glad I can make it down here. To make up for last time,” he told the audience before the object hit him. Clearly frustrated by what had happened, Strings immediately reacted from the stage. He questioned why anyone would throw something at him, especially when he had been preparing to tell the crowd how happy he was to perform for them. “What the hell, man? Maybe not. Maybe I shouldn’t have come back,” the musician said in an angry response. He went on to express his disappointment, pointing out that he had been feeling positive about the crowd before the incident interrupted the moment. “I was just getting ready to say how much I’m happy to be here, and I love you guys,” Strings said while addressing the person responsible. The musician’s reaction became one of the most talked-about moments from the concert, as fans expressed concern over the decision to throw an object toward a performer. Strings appeared determined not to let the incident completely derail the show, but the experience clearly left him frustrated. In a later remark, he made a strong statement about identifying the person who had thrown the object. Following the incident, Strings also appeared on stage wearing protective headgear, seemingly taking extra precautions during his performances. The Indiana concert was particularly notable as it marked an important return to the stage for Strings following his previous major performances. He had most recently performed during Willie Nelson’s Outlaw Music Festival Tour stop in Spokane, Washington. During that appearance, Strings paid tribute to legendary singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, who was also present at the event and performed “All Along the Watchtower.” Strings has also experienced deeply emotional moments during his career. Months after that performance, he paid tribute to his late mother during an emotional concert in Lexington, reportedly taking the stage only hours after learning about her death. Despite the difficult moments surrounding his recent performances, Strings has continued connecting with audiences through his music. However, the incident in Indiana has highlighted the risks performers can face when audience members behave unpredictably during live shows.

Lahore family death mystery solved, Police reveal …

LAHORE: Police have claimed to have solved the mystery surrounding the deaths of a US national and her three children in a private housing society in Lahore, saying forensic evidence indicates the woman fatally poisoned her children before taking her own life. Addressing a press conference on Friday, Lahore DIG Investigation Zeeshan Raza said forensic findings and the investigation suggest the woman mixed potassium cyanide into ice cream and gave it to her three children on July 17 before consuming the poisoned dessert herself. According to investigators, the woman had recently arrived in Lahore from the United States with her husband and children. Police said the investigation revealed she had been suffering from mental health problems and had allegedly searched online for methods of suicide before the incident. The DIG further stated that investigators believe the woman also attempted to serve the poisoned ice cream to her husband, but he did not consume it. Police said the investigation included forensic analysis, digital evidence and interviews with family members. Authorities also conducted a polygraph examination of the husband as part of the inquiry before concluding that he was not involved in the deaths. During the investigation, police traced the source of the chemical allegedly used in the incident. Officials said the woman had arranged for the parcel containing the chemical to be delivered to a friend’s residence instead of her own address. As part of the probe, police arrested two additional suspects, including the owner of an online chemical business and a delivery rider. Investigators allege the shop owner illegally sold potassium cyanide online and received Rs138,540 for the transaction. Police said both suspects will face legal proceedings for their alleged role in supplying the hazardous chemical. Investigators added that a comprehensive case file is being prepared in coordination with prosecutors to ensure the accused are prosecuted under the relevant laws. The case shocked the country after the woman and her three children were found dead under mysterious circumstances earlier this month. Authorities say the investigation relied on forensic evidence and digital records to reconstruct the sequence of events. The incident has also renewed concerns about the online sale of highly toxic chemicals and highlighted the importance of stronger oversight, as well as greater awareness and access to mental health support for individuals experiencing severe psychological distress.
