Punjab introduces new vehicle scrapping law for un…

The Punjab government has introduced a new law for vehicle scrapping, allowing unusable and damaged vehicles to be legally disposed of through registered scrapping facilities. The move aims to regulate the disposal of old vehicles and remove unfit vehicles from roads across the province.

According to reports, Punjab Governor Saleem Haider issued the Motor Vehicles Amendment Ordinance, which provides a legal framework for scrapping vehicles that are no longer fit for use.

Under the new ordinance, vehicles without valid fitness certificates may also be sent for scrapping. The law includes vehicles that have been severely damaged in accidents or destroyed by fire and are considered beyond repair.

The new regulations allow vehicle owners to voluntarily apply for scrapping if they no longer want to keep their vehicles. However, the process must only be completed through officially registered vehicle scrapping facilities to ensure proper disposal and prevent misuse.

Officials believe the new system will help improve road safety by reducing the number of unsafe vehicles operating on roads. Old and poorly maintained vehicles can contribute to accidents, environmental pollution, and increased risks for drivers and passengers.

The ordinance also introduces a more organized approach to vehicle disposal, ensuring that scrapped vehicles are handled through approved channels rather than informal methods. Registered scrapping facilities will be responsible for carrying out the process according to legal requirements.

Transport experts have welcomed measures aimed at removing dangerous vehicles from circulation, saying that proper vehicle inspection and disposal systems are essential for safer roads and better environmental management.

The implementation of the new law is expected to impact owners of old, damaged, and unfit vehicles across Punjab. Vehicle owners will now have a legal option to dispose of vehicles that are no longer economically repairable or safe to operate.

The government is expected to issue further guidelines regarding the registration of scrapping facilities and the detailed procedure for vehicle owners in the coming days.

The new vehicle scrapping ordinance represents a significant change in Punjab’s transport regulations, with authorities focusing on road safety, environmental protection, and better management of end-of-life vehicles.

Man arrested after allegedly shooting himself to s…

A young man has been arrested in Kasur after allegedly shooting himself in the leg and staging a fake robbery in an attempt to avoid giving his salary to his family, according to police officials. The unusual incident has drawn attention due to the elaborate plan the suspect reportedly carried out to deceive both his relatives and law enforcement authorities. According to the police, the accused, identified as Adnan, had recently received his salary but did not want to hand over the money to his family as expected. Instead, he reportedly intended to use the money to purchase a new mobile phone. Fearing that his family would insist on receiving his earnings, he allegedly came up with a plan to fake a robbery in order to explain the disappearance of his salary. Police said that Adnan allegedly shot himself in the leg to make the fabricated robbery appear genuine. After sustaining the self-inflicted injury, he reportedly claimed that unidentified robbers had intercepted him, stolen his money, and opened fire before fleeing the scene. The incident initially appeared to be a case of armed robbery, prompting authorities to launch an investigation. However, as investigators examined the evidence and questioned the victim, inconsistencies began to emerge in his account of the incident. Police officers carefully reviewed the circumstances surrounding the alleged robbery and collected forensic and testimonial evidence. Their investigation eventually led them to conclude that the robbery had never taken place and that the injury had been deliberately self-inflicted as part of a staged incident. During the course of the investigation, police also uncovered the alleged involvement of three of Adnan’s friends. According to officials, the three men are accused of providing him with the firearm that was used in the incident. As a result, they were also taken into custody and are being questioned regarding their role in helping carry out the alleged plan. Police stated that the suspects now face legal action for allegedly misleading law enforcement, staging a false crime, and illegally facilitating the use of a firearm. Authorities emphasized that fabricating criminal incidents wastes valuable police resources and diverts attention away from genuine emergencies and victims who require immediate assistance. The case has generated widespread discussion on social media, where many users expressed surprise at the lengths to which the accused allegedly went to avoid giving his salary to his family. Others noted that personal financial disputes should be resolved honestly rather than through actions that could endanger lives and lead to criminal charges. Law enforcement officials reiterated that filing false reports and creating fake crime scenes are serious offenses that can result in legal consequences. They urged the public to cooperate with authorities by providing truthful information and avoiding actions that interfere with criminal investigations. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and police are expected to complete the legal process after gathering all relevant evidence and recording statements from those involved. Authorities have not yet disclosed additional details about the charges that will be filed, but they confirmed that both the main suspect and his three friends remain in custody as the investigation continues.

Alex Cooper’s drink company reportedly shutting …

Alex Cooper’s venture into the beverage industry may be coming to an end. The Call Her Daddy host’s Unwell Beverage business is reportedly shutting down after less than two years on the market. According to a Bloomberg report cited by People, the company is expected to end its beverage operations after releasing a final collection of Halloween-themed drinks this fall. Neither Cooper nor Target, the brand’s main retail partner, has publicly confirmed the report. (People.com) The reported closure marks an unexpected turn for a business that Cooper created after noticing what she believed was a gap in the hydration market. The idea for Unwell Hydration came to her while she was on her 2024 Unwell Tour. Cooper said she often struggled to find hydration and energy drinks that felt designed for women rather than men. She wanted to create something convenient for people with busy lifestyles while also offering lower-sugar options. Cooper previously explained that she would often feel exhausted while traveling and performing. She said many of the drinks she found either tasted unpleasant or contained more sugar than she wanted. That experience helped inspire the concept behind Unwell Hydration. (People.com) The beverage line was developed in partnership with Nestlé and officially launched in 2025. It initially focused on electrolyte drinks before expanding into additional products, including Unwell Focus, Unwell Protein and Unwell Energy. The products were primarily sold through Target stores and online. (People.com) Cooper’s goal was to bring her huge female audience into a category that had traditionally been associated with sports and performance. The company’s branding was closely connected to the wider Unwell media network, which Cooper has continued to expand through podcasts, entertainment projects, merchandise and other ventures. However, the beverage business reportedly struggled to establish a long-term position in an increasingly crowded functional-drinks market. The Cut noted that the brand moved from its original hydration focus into protein and energy products, potentially making its overall identity less clear to consumers. (The Cut) The reported shutdown does not mean Cooper’s larger Unwell business is disappearing. Her media company continues to operate across several areas, and recent reports indicate that Unwell itself has secured new investment that values the broader company at around $500 million. (TMZ) For now, fans may still see Unwell beverages on shelves as retailers sell through their remaining inventory. The final Halloween-themed release could become the brand’s last major product launch. While the drink company may have had a short run, Cooper’s attempt shows how quickly major digital creators are moving beyond social media and podcasts into consumer products—and how difficult it can be to turn a huge online following into a lasting beverage brand. Was Celeste Rivas pregnant? DA reveals detail in D4vd case

A key clarification has emerged in the murder case against singer D4vd, as the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that Celeste Rivas Hernandez was not pregnant at the time of her death, putting to rest speculation that surfaced during recent court proceedings. The clarification follows widespread discussion after prosecutors presented text messages during a preliminary hearing showing that Rivas had previously become pregnant in 2024, when she was 13 years old, and later underwent an abortion. The disclosure led to online speculation that she may have also been pregnant when she died in April 2025. According to the District Attorney’s Office, investigators do not believe Rivas was pregnant at the time of her death. Prosecutors shared the update with People on July 29, explaining that the clarification was issued after an amendment to her death certificate had changed the pregnancy section from “no” to “unknown,” creating confusion about her medical status. The murder case centres on David Anthony Burke, the singer professionally known as D4vd, who has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, including first-degree murder, continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14 and unlawful mutilation of human remains. During the preliminary hearing, prosecutors introduced text messages exchanged between Burke and Rivas regarding the earlier pregnancy. In one message, Rivas wrote, “Both of us aren’t able to take care of it,” while Burke replied, “I know but still.” Prosecutors presented the messages as part of their evidence during the hearing. Court proceedings also included testimony from investigators and forensic experts as prosecutors argued there was sufficient evidence for the case to proceed to trial. The hearing focused on determining whether enough evidence existed to hold Burke over for trial rather than deciding guilt or innocence. Earlier this week, a Los Angeles judge ruled that prosecutors had presented enough evidence for Burke to stand trial on the charges. The decision came after several days of testimony and the presentation of forensic, digital and documentary evidence by the prosecution. Rivas’ remains were discovered in September 2025 inside the trunk of a Tesla linked to Burke. Authorities later ruled her death a homicide, leading to Burke’s arrest in April 2026. He remains in custody after pleading not guilty to all charges filed against him. The District Attorney’s latest clarification specifically addresses speculation surrounding Rivas’ pregnancy status, confirming that while the teenager had previously experienced a pregnancy more than a year before her death, she was not pregnant when she was killed. Prosecutors said the earlier text messages and abortion were unrelated to her medical condition at the time of her death. The criminal case against Burke will now move forward after the judge’s ruling, with further proceedings expected in the coming weeks as prosecutors continue pursuing the charges against the singer.

Eight bodies recovered after Broad Peak avalanche

Rescue teams have recovered the bodies of eight mountaineers following the devastating avalanche on Broad Peak, while the search continues for two missing climbers. Another victim has been identified, but the body remains trapped in an area that rescuers have so far been unable to reach. Speaking to the media, the President of the Alpine Club of Pakistan described the incident as one of the deadliest accidents in the history of Broad Peak. He said a total of 11 climbers are believed to have been caught in the avalanche, triggering a large-scale rescue operation. He said the first phase of the operation began immediately after the incident. On the opening day, rescuers recovered the bodies of two climbers and also found partial human remains believed to belong to another victim. According to the Alpine Club, the first two recovered victims were a Nepalese mountaineer and a female climber from Oman. Rescue operations were carried out under extremely difficult weather and terrain conditions at high altitude. The Pakistan Army assisted the mission by providing helicopters to transport rescue teams and airlift the recovered bodies from the remote mountain. The aerial support played a key role in speeding up the recovery process. The Alpine Club president said that during the latest phase of the operation, the bodies of four Nepalese climbers and one Chinese mountaineer were successfully recovered and transported from the mountain. He added that rescuers have also identified another climber’s body. However, it is located in an inaccessible area, making immediate recovery impossible because of dangerous terrain and the continued risk of avalanches. Search teams are still looking for the remaining two missing climbers. Rescue officials said every effort is being made to locate them despite severe weather, snow-covered slopes and difficult mountain conditions. The tragedy has shocked Pakistan’s mountaineering community and highlighted the dangers faced by climbers attempting to scale some of the world’s highest peaks. Broad Peak, located in the Karakoram mountain range, is one of Pakistan’s tallest mountains and attracts climbers from around the world each year.

Jordan Stephens breaks silence on ‘very tough’…

Jordan Stephens has spoken publicly for the first time about his reported split from Jade Thirlwall, admitting that navigating heartbreak while under the spotlight has been far from easy. The 34-year-old Rizzle Kicks musician addressed the situation during the latest episode of the Miss Me? podcast, where he co-hosts alongside broadcaster Miquita Oliver. Although Stephens did not go into detail about the end of the relationship, he acknowledged that the past few weeks have been emotionally challenging and said he still has not fully processed everything.  “It’s been very tough,” Stephens admitted, explaining that he feels uncomfortable seeing his private life become a topic of public discussion. He said that while he values being honest with listeners, there are limits to what he is willing to share, especially when another person’s privacy is involved.  Reports of Stephens’ breakup with former Little Mix star Jade Thirlwall emerged last week, with several outlets claiming the couple quietly ended their six-year relationship earlier this year. According to reports, the decision was mutual, and the pair remain on good terms despite going their separate ways. Neither Stephens nor Thirlwall has officially confirmed the details of the split beyond Jordan’s recent comments.  During the podcast, Stephens reflected on the difficulty of experiencing heartbreak in the public eye. He said that relationships are deeply personal and that having strangers speculate about them can make an already painful experience even harder to navigate. While he hinted that he may speak more openly in the future, he stressed that now is not the right time because emotions are still raw.  Stephens and Thirlwall began dating in 2020 after connecting during the COVID-19 lockdown. Over the years, they became one of British pop culture’s most admired couples, often supporting each other’s careers while keeping much of their relationship away from the spotlight. They also collaborated creatively, with Stephens contributing to Thirlwall’s solo music following Little Mix’s hiatus.  Rumors of trouble in their relationship grew after fans noticed the couple had not appeared together publicly for several months. Social media users also pointed out that photos and videos featuring one another had been removed from their accounts, adding to speculation before reports of the split surfaced.  Despite the attention surrounding his personal life, Stephens made it clear that he is focused on healing and moving forward. His candid comments offered a rare glimpse into the emotional impact of life after a long-term relationship while highlighting the challenges celebrities face when deeply personal moments become public conversation. For now, both Stephens and Thirlwall appear to be concentrating on their respective careers, leaving fans to respect their privacy as they navigate the next chapter of their lives.
