Olivia Culpo opens up about her C-section plan for baby number two

Olivia Culpo is letting fans in on the details of her upcoming delivery, and the emotions that come with it. In a Get Ready With Me video shared on TikTok this Thursday, the 34-year-old model admitted she was struggling with a difficult goodbye, as her husband prepares to head back to work for the football season.

Culpo explained that her husband, San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, was departing soon, and the timing was hitting her hard. She described the moment as overwhelming, saying everything felt like a lot to process at once.

She then walked viewers through her birth plan. Since she underwent a C-section during her first delivery last July, a vaginal birth after cesarean, commonly known as VBAC, was never on the table this time around. A repeat C-section was the medically appropriate route going forward.

What made this pregnancy trickier to plan, she explained, was coordinating around her husband’s demanding schedule. The couple managed to schedule the procedure on a day when McCaffrey’s commitments were comparatively lighter. That way, he would be able to be present for the birth itself, even if only briefly.

Culpo noted that once the delivery is done, McCaffrey will need to head straight back to his team obligations, making this birth experience noticeably different from their first. There wi not be the same stretch of time together afterward that they had before.

She also used the moment to clear up a common misunderstanding about the NFL calendar. Many assume the season kicks off in September when regular games begin, but Culpo pointed out that the reality is different. Training camp starts at the end of July, and from there, players move directly into the season without much of a gap.

That overlapping timeline is exactly why her due date planning became such a delicate balancing act, requiring coordination between her medical team and her husband’s team schedule.

Culpo and McCaffrey announced they were expecting their second child together back in May, sharing the news with fans who have closely followed their relationship since they began dating in 2019. The couple welcomed their first daughter in July of last year, and are now preparing to expand their family once again, this time navigating the added complexity of an NFL season starting right as their new baby arrives.

  • July’s buck moon peaks this week, and wildfire smoke may turn it orange

This week brings July’s full moon, known as the buck moon, which reaches peak illumination at 10:36 a.m. ET on Wednesday, according to The Old Farmer’s Almanack. Even though the exact peak passes quickly, the moon will look full to the naked eye for about a day on either side of that moment, so there is no rush to catch it at the precise minute. Viewing conditions will differ depending on where you are. Those in the Northern Hemisphere will see the moon sitting relatively low in the sky, while Southern Hemisphere viewers get a higher vantage point, though still not as high as what June’s full moon offered, according to EarthSky. Astrologically, this year’s buck moon falls under Aquarius, though it is worth noting that the zodiac sign does not necessarily match the constellation the moon is actually passing through. Noah Petro, who heads the Planetary Geology, Geophysics and Geochemistry Lab at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, said there is flexibility in how and where people view it, as long as they find a spot away from bright city lights with a clear line of sight to the sky. Viewers in the Northeast and Upper Midwest may notice something different this time around: the moon appearing more orange or red than usual. That’s being linked to smoke drifting down from wildfires burning in Canada, which has settled into the atmosphere as a haze. Pamela Gay, a senior scientist at the Planetary Science Institute, explained that the same smoky layer responsible for dimming daytime skies is also what’s tinting the moon’s color. As for the name itself, “buck moon” refers to the time of year when male deer begin growing new antlers. Other cultures have their own names for this particular full moon. The Dakota call it the moon of ripe chokecherries, while the Cree know it as the feather-moulting moon. Petro also drew a connection to NASA’s Artemis II mission, which sent four astronauts on a flight around the moon back in April, describing moments like this full moon as a reminder of humanity’s ongoing connection to what is happening on the moon itself. Looking ahead, five more full moons remain on the calendar for 2026, with November and December set to bring supermoons, when the moon reaches its closest approach to Earth.

Spanish minister bids for top UN labour agency post amid US funding crisis

Spain has officially nominated its Labour Minister and Second Deputy Prime Minister, Yolanda Díaz, to run for Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO). If elected, Díaz would become the first woman to lead the Geneva-based UN agency in its 107-year history. Díaz is set to challenge incumbent Director-General Gilbert Houngbo of Togo, who took office in 2022 as the first African leader of the ILO and is seeking re-election. Her candidacy comes as the agency faces a severe liquidity crisis, exacerbated by unpaid contributions from member states, most notably the United States, which owes 257 million Swiss francs ($315 million) in arrears and has outlined plans to halt funding for the upcoming fiscal year. The nomination highlights her domestic record of labor reforms and social dialogue in Spain, though analysts note her candidacy faces a diplomatic balancing act between securing European support and risking friction with the African diplomatic bloc. The election will take place in November 2026, with the winner’s five-year term beginning in October 2027.

Sharmila Faruqui alleges AJK poll rigging

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Sharmila Faruqui has alleged that her party believes in the power of the vote, while the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) relies on other means to secure political success. Speaking during a television programme on Monday, Faruqui claimed that an atmosphere of fear and intimidation was created in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), giving the impression that the election mandate had already been secured. She argued that announcements of development initiatives, including Green Bus projects, before polling day amounted to pre-poll rigging. According to her, even if the PML-N succeeds in forming a government in AJK with the current mandate, it will struggle to effectively serve the people. Faruqui also questioned the handling of polling in constituencies where the PPP traditionally enjoys strong public support. She alleged that polling staff arrived late in several such areas, raising concerns about the transparency of the electoral process. Referring to the killing of a PPP worker, she claimed that the incident was initially described as resulting from either a push or a heart attack, despite the party maintaining that the worker had been deliberately targeted. The PPP leader further said the AJK elections should not be viewed through the political lens of Lahore or Karachi, as the region has its own unique issues and priorities. She maintained that the people of Azad Kashmir have a longstanding bond with the PPP and asserted that no other political party enjoys the same level of public support in the region. The PML-N has not publicly responded to Faruqui’s allegations. Meanwhile, results from the second phase of the AJK elections continue to emerge, with the PML-N maintaining a clear lead according to unofficial results.
