President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have extended greetings to the nation and the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal.

In their separate messages, they said the day of 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal provides an opportunity to remember the great blessing of Allah Almighty and renew the commitment to the guidance brought by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

President Zardari said the birth of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) marked the beginning of a bright era based on faith, knowledge, justice and fairness. He said the Prophet’s exemplary life provides a complete path towards success and salvation.

The president said a righteous and stable society can only be built on the principles of justice, piety and strong moral values.

He added that true love for the Holy Prophet (PBUH) requires Muslims to make his Seerah and Sunnah an integral part of their practical lives. He urged people to reflect the Prophet’s teachings through their character, conduct and dealings with others.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) remain an eternal source of guidance for humanity.

He said the Prophet’s teachings promote compassion, justice, tolerance, unity and service to others. These values, he added, provide a strong foundation for building a peaceful and prosperous society.

The prime minister urged the nation to renew its commitment to shaping individual character and collective behaviour in accordance with the teachings of Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH).

He called for a collective resolve to work for a peaceful, stable and prosperous Pakistan while promoting unity, brotherhood and mutual respect among citizens.

Both leaders stressed the importance of following the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and making them part of everyday life.

    Two missing women, toddler found dead in Dinga pon…

    GUJRAT: The bodies of three females, including a two-year-old girl, who had gone missing from the Dinga area a day earlier, were recovered from a pond in Mohallah Chaar Gah , police said. The deceased were identified as Arooj Fatima, Haleema Sadia and two-year-old Ruku Fatima. According to police, all three had gone missing from the jurisdiction of Dinga police station on August 25. Following their disappearance, a kidnapping case had been registered at Dinga police station on the complaint of the family. A search operation was underway when their bodies were found in a pond in Mohallah Chaar Gah. Police said a heavy contingent was deployed at the scene after the recovery of the bodies. Crime Scene Unit personnel and teams of the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) also reached the site and collected evidence for further investigation. The bodies were later shifted to a hospital for post-mortem examinations. According to preliminary police findings, the three victims appeared to have died due to drowning. However, police said the matter was still being investigated from different angles and the final cause and circumstances of their deaths would be determined after the completion of medico-legal and forensic procedures. The recovery of the bodies sent shockwaves through the locality, particularly because a kidnapping case had been registered only a day earlier after the three females went missing. District Police Officer Gujrat Faisal Shehzad visited the scene following the recovery of the bodies. He was briefed by police officers and also gathered information from residents of the area about the circumstances surrounding the incident. The DPO directed the officers concerned to conduct a complete and transparent investigation and examine all possible aspects of the case. He said the legal and investigative process should be completed strictly on merit and no aspect of the incident should be overlooked. Faisal Shehzad also met the bereaved family members and expressed his condolences over the deaths. He assured them that police would complete all legal and investigative formalities in accordance with the law. Police officials said the post-mortem reports and forensic examination of evidence collected from the scene would play an important role in determining whether the deaths resulted solely from drowning or whether any other factor was involved. Investigators are also examining the timeline of the disappearance and other circumstances leading up to the recovery of the bodies from the pond. The Dinga police said further proceedings would be carried out in light of the post-mortem findings, forensic evidence and the results of the ongoing investigation. The bodies were handed over for further medico-legal procedures as police continued their investigation into what officials described as a tragic and sensitive case. No final conclusion regarding the circumstances of the deaths had been announced by police at the time of filing this report, while investigators continued to collect evidence and record statements from relevant persons.

    Lebanese PM vows efforts to secure full Israeli withdrawal

During the meeting, Aoun urged the United States to support Lebanon’s demand for a complete Israeli withdrawal from its territory as part of ongoing efforts to stabilise the border. Last month, Lebanon and Israel agreed to a US backed framework under which the Lebanese army would gradually deploy in designated areas while Israeli troops would withdraw from selected locations. The agreement also calls for the Lebanese military to take responsibility for disarming Hezbollah in those zones. Hezbollah has rejected the deal and insists it will not surrender its weapons. Tensions remain high despite the agreement. Lebanon’s army said Israeli forces opened fire near soldiers who were deploying in Zawtar al Gharbiyah on Tuesday. The Israeli military responded by saying its troops fired warning shots after Lebanese soldiers entered an area outside the agreed deployment zone. The border region has remained unstable since Hezbollah entered the regional conflict by launching attacks against Israel in support of Iran earlier this year. Israel responded with large scale airstrikes and a ground offensive that caused widespread destruction across southern Lebanon. Although violence has eased following recent diplomatic agreements, occasional military exchanges continue. During his visit, Salam raised the Lebanese flag in the village and promised that the government would focus on rebuilding damaged communities. He said authorities would work alongside the army to reopen roads, clear rubble, restore essential public services, and create conditions that allow displaced residents to return home safely. Many local residents gathered near the village hoping to receive permission to inspect their homes after months of conflict. Some expressed relief over the arrival of the Lebanese army, saying its presence gave them confidence that life could gradually return to normal. However, military officials advised civilians to wait until security operations in the area are completed before returning. The army is currently conducting security sweeps in villages close to Israeli controlled positions to ensure the areas are safe for returning residents. Officials say these operations are necessary because of the continued risk of military activity near the border. Meanwhile, Lebanon’s state news agency reported additional Israeli drone strikes and artillery shelling in nearby areas on Wednesday. It also said Israeli troops entered the Dubieh area near the border town of Shaqra and raised an Israeli flag over the historic Dubieh Castle. Lebanese Culture Minister Ghassan Salame strongly criticised the move, describing it as a provocative action that violates Lebanon’s sovereignty. He said the government remains committed to regaining control over all historic sites and national territory in the south. The latest incident follows Israel’s seizure of the historic Beaufort Castle in May. International attention has also turned to the condition of several historic castles in southern Lebanon. The United Nations is expected to consider adding five of these sites, including Beaufort Castle and Dubieh Castle, to its list of cultural landmarks at risk due to ongoing conflict. Lebanese officials hope international support will help protect these important heritage sites while diplomatic efforts continue to prevent further escalation along the border.

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said details of deposited gifts are published periodically. He said the records cover gifts received by the president, prime minister, deputy prime minister, federal ministers and other government officials. However, the names of the foreign dignitaries who presented the gifts have not been made public. The Cabinet Division has stated that the valuation of some of the newly listed gifts is still being completed. It has also clarified that the published information is based on records and declarations submitted by individuals and departments. The records show that President Zardari received several valuable and ceremonial items. These included a tea set, sword, golden desert model, woollen overcoat and a Vacheron Constantin Geneve wristwatch. Other gifts listed for the president included a decorative piece, ceremonial sabre set, chessboard, serving bowl and an oil painting. First Lady Assefa Bhutto-Zardari and Bakhtawar Bhutto-Zardari also received jewellery. The records show that both received necklaces. Jewellery sets were also listed among their gifts. Assefa Bhutto-Zardari additionally received a Kumis set. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also received a wide range of gifts. The items included shields, souvenirs, portraits, ties, frames and swords. Some jewellery items were also listed among the gifts received by the prime minister. The records further show several watches, including Rolex and Patek Philippe models. Other items included a coin, traditional dress, clock, sugar bowl and car model. Cups, pens and cufflinks were also among the listed gifts. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar received several items as well. His gifts included a decorative piece and a traditional Chinese stamp. Senator Saleem Mandviwalla received a Bvlgari watch. Former NAB chairman retired Lt Gen Nazir Ahmed received a wristwatch and an INTERPOL commemorative book. Deputy Chief of State Protocol Hafeezullah received a Tag Heuer watch. Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi received a Rolex watch and a hand-chased tea set. Prime Minister’s spokesperson for foreign media Mosharraf Ali Zaidi received a Tag Heuer watch. Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Industries and Production Haroon Akhter received a hand-chased tea set with 24-karat gold plating. The government has said the details of Toshakhana gifts will continue to be uploaded periodically. The Cabinet Division has also placed a disclaimer on the records.
